Can't beat it for a reason...still amazing value!

Dear Stevealicious,Thanks for this video. I totally agree with you. The Dw-290 has indeed a magic aura to it. I own three, from different decades (The 90s, the 2010s, 2020s) I love them all! it’s interesting to notice the different features of each of them, and I’ve made a couple of videos on my channel highlighting them. Thank you for this video!

Probably the best watch i've ever owned, I'm on my 4th one now, 1st one i lost, 2nd one i broke a connection while trying to replace the battery, 3rd came off my arm after catching it on a branch while crossing a creek, 4th one i still have. The second one is the most interesting because i pulled the movement out and put it through a few tests, although not under any pressure, i stuck it in a jar of water for 12months, not a drop got inside, i then froze it in a container filled with water for a few days, took it out and boiled it for 15 minutes and still not a drop of water inside, i then stuck it in a jar filled with Methylated spirits for 3 days, then in a jar of water again and still not a drop got inside that case. I just love this watch, i wear it all the time. I think the first one i bought was in the 1980's and cost me $200 Australian, I lost that one within the first week, the next one cost me $200 too but the other 2 i bought off eBay for $60 and $100. Just goes to show how much profit stores make.

According to the forums, this one was discontinued in September of 2015, but I'm guessing there were tons of them made, since they're still available in the Casio web store.

I got this as a kid in the 90s. I remember looking at it in the shop for ages before I saved enough to buy it. I had no idea it was in mission impossible. No idea whatever happened to it. May have to get another.

had to reverse import one of these because they're not available in japan. Still worth it--it's a G shock without the bulk! unless you work with power tools you probably won't need the shock rating anyways

It lasts a lot anyway, if it would be solar, the el light would be not so bright

The only thing I don’t like about my 290 is the strap, I ended up taking the straps off of my CA-53 and swapped it.

Yeah, I don't mind them, but I can see how people would want to replace them!

Nowadays they cost about (equivalent of) 60-70 USD in my country, which makes them not really a good deal anymore. I had one, lost it in the mountains of Slovakia unfortunately

Make one out of carbon core, put a sapphire glass and every metal part of titanium, a dlc display and leave it on normal batteries, or make is solar

NO! That would kill the magic of this watch. It’s genuine as it is.

A true classic ....unfortunately that strap is considered one of the most uncomfortable straps ever made by casio. Ive boiled my strap a few times, soaked it in hot water for hours...tried to soften it but it still leaves marks on my wrist. If i losen it too much the watch doesnt sit on my wrist properly. Luckily most 19/20 mm straps fit on the watch so i got an alti-6000 strap and wow...what a difference.

with the dw-290, it is easy to change the strap...you don't need any special attachments

Casio is moving away from Electro Luminescence (EL) for environmental reasons. LED's (Light-Emitting Diodes) create less harmful industrial waste compared to EL's.

The turquoise lettering comes of itself very quickly after you just start it wearing
