The DW 290 watch is aboslutely great! This should be called the Monster Casio watch. I had my first one 21 years ago as a present, being exposed to a various tough conditions during these years and it is still ticking with only minor scratches on the screen, two battery replacements and two strap replacements! Just purchased my second one after finding it is still being produced by Casio. Excellent timepiece / masterpiece and a great review of it. Thanks!

Do you find the electro luminescence backlight to be of same color and intensity? I see mine as a darker shade of blue while the newer ones have a hint of green

it isnt while it is a good watch there are better ones tht look much better and more simple but yet still complex monitors

Great tutorial. Thanks. I lost mine 2 years ago during a jog session when i arrived home and realized it was no longer on my wrist. Since then i really missed the watch. Kept on buying other casio including the g-shock but non of them have such attraction such as the Dw 290. Yesterday i finally ordered the watch again from local seller and cant wait to have it back on my wrist 😊

My two favorite Casio watches are the DW-290 and the W-740.

The history of DW290 start with the amazing Casio DW 340 WR300M , and after that Casio made the W740 WR100 and finally Casio made the famous DW290.

Thank-You so much Sir, i have owned my CASIO G-SHOCK DW-5610SU-3 (MODULE [3229]) for 120 days now and could not figure out how to auto-repeat the countdown timer, even though i've watched your tutorials numerous times.. i have the green on black 2-tone (1-piece) bezel.. i intend to swap the ADJUST and LIGHT pushers as i use the adjust function repeatedly throughout each day but never use the backlight.. the only use i have for the LIGHT button is to activate the AUTO-REPEAT function, which i have wanted to utilize several times now, but could not remember how.. the only other modification/upgrade i would like to have is a Nuclear Diamond Battery..

if anyone is wondering, i need the AUTO-REPEAT function of the COUNTDOWN TIMER if i am ever to step in and direct traffic due to power outages, rolling blackouts, rolling brownouts, Coronal Mass Ejections, or Electro Magnetic Pulses.. also useful for timing ones rounds, if one patrols on a scheduled basis, or not spending too much time on any one task or at any one location..

This review of the DW-290 was the best I've ever seen. The functions of the 290 and 5600 are just amazing. It seems Casio did a step back with the GW-M5610.

I bought this watch today and I just realised that mine came with 3231 module.

How do I invert day and months? (so that day is displayed on left and months on right) I am in UK. We usually write day, months, year... Apart from that and the green writing "Illuminator water resistant 200m..." rubbing off within a months no issues with the watch.

I have an older DW-290 (the 1219 module) and the calendar only lasts until 2029.

No worries, after that you just Google repeated years for 2030 and you put whatever is offered between 1995 and 2029 and I think the calendar should then be correct for another 7 years

Sorry for the late response. I imagine that by the time 2030 comes out there will be numerous sites that can calculate those repeated years, so more than a solution will come. Thanks for the help. You have an awesome channel!

Have you opened the caseback and does the older module have a trimmer screw? I understand (but not 100%) that Casio removed the trimmer in the later module. Thank you.

What I need, is how to replace the battery for this watch. I think about broke the movement trying to rip the battery out of it today. All I'm seeing on KZread, is battery replacements for G-Shocks which aren't the same.
