Thank you Mr Greg Anderson. What I am searching for (and it will probably be a long wait) is a Solar powered watch with a smooth sweeping second hand (e.g. Bulova Accutron UHF movement, but solar powered).

I got the version of this watch with the red hands- the bezel is fixed but it is solar powered and it is my go to watch that I grab amongst my small collection. It does not have a screw in crown like the Duro's but it is water resistant, great watch.

The 'diver' bezel is great for timing occasional things. It's great for a little kid time out. The clicking is dramatic and they know they'll have to serve the full 5 minr.

Nobody that dives is wearing a Casio or any dive watch these days lol. The lume alone is basically useless on most Casio's , the Marlin also has useless lume.

@@RobertNES816 many divers still do. Its easier to set the time right on a watch while on a plane or traveling than the time on a dive computer. Some computers are easier to set than others, but a dive watch is easiest. Return times are set by clock, regardless of how long you dive, and being late to return can get a diver into trouble.

odd, doesn't take much to make the bezel spin, or the crown screw down, the real cost is milling the steel to form a case. All Casio needed to do was fit this movement, face and hands in Duro case which has been around for ages; Duro case is pretty loose inside for the current movement, so is this solar watch, easy to add spacers to make it fit right. 🤔

It's not a dive watch. It's a dive style watch.

These have a Seiko V158 Movement. I have the feild version of this watch and was impressed Casio would use something better then a Miyota movement.

Just got one off Amazon without knowing that the bezel doesn't rotate. Kind of weird for a "dive watch", but overall I'm very happy with it.

Looking forward to a future release of perhaps a solar-powered Duro.

How about transferring this solar-diver's mechanism into Duro's case? I don't know if it would fit in it btw, they look similar in diameter to me idk.

I just bought the 106 because I wanted the 200m water resistance and the screw down crown I know Casio says you can dive with their 100m watches. I might get one of these as I like the solar Casio's too and I only have one.

Great review - very professional look to this video as well. Casio makes a dive watch with many bells and whistles that may ( not 100% sure ) but may set it's time automatically etc. See the Frogman series - expensive and large - but very interesting to research.

These non moving bezels are such a let down and a bit of a con. Its not as if the online descriptions always make it clear. I do expect more honesty from Casio. It would probably cost nothing allow movement but then that would undermine their more expensive models. I have bought the non solar casio version that has a moving bezel and i am impressed, date but not day display though. MDV-107-1A2VEF £66 on uk Amazon

Im not much of a dive watch guy, but I like this one. Just a heads up, when you are in AM and the day date change over, set the day/date before going and setting it to PM.

Many of your viewers are disappointed with the fixed bezel and I agree. But at this price, something's gotta give. What do you cut? Stainless steel case? Solar? 100m WR level? Options include the MRW200's which DO have a rotating bezel but not steel and not solar, or trading up to the "Duro", but still no solar. Frankly, I do not know how Casio sells some of their under $30 at retail watches, both analog and digis, and make any money. I am grateful for Casio, as well as your very comprehensive reviews.

I guess I prefer a collection of dozens of inexpensive watches rather than a couple of costly collectibles. What can I say about Casios? They’re inexpensive and they last for decades!

@@GoodTimekeeper FYI, look into the Casio MTD1053. Similar to the Duro but in a 40mm case, and with a steel bracelet. Out of production but still available. Black or blue. Have a good day.

I do wonder if some of these fixed bevels might be un-fixed from the inside. Ie could the construction really be the same as the movable ones, just crippled to protect the higher price models?

Also, maybe I could get one of those watches with a GPS receiver for the time... and then I’ll travel to places where Multi Band 6 transmitters are out of range. Again, those get pricey!

lack of rotating bezel is a big nock on what would have been a great watch. Putting fake features on watches is BS.

I have a G-Shock MTG-900 that’s still running 15 years after I bought it and it have never been serviced.

Nice find! They are releasing their first Oceanus Diver soon btw, that one should have both atomic timekeeping as well as solar. I expect a hefty pricetag though.

Some folks really want the bezel to rotate. The Duro does have a rotating bezel. This one has a bezel which doesn’t turn. Personally, I don’t use the rotating bezel feature but some other folks really feel it is essential. And, of course this watch is solar powered and the Duro is not.

I wonder why a fixed bezel?

If I understand, it is impossible To screw the crown on this model. I want To be sure because I just received my watch from amazon. In the instruction manuel they dont talk clearly about it thanks.

You are correct. The crown is just for decoration and it does not rotate on this one.

Casio seems to always leave one feature out, maybe so you don’t find the perfect watch and stop buying. If they made a Casio Duro with day as well as date, plus solar and multiband, they could probably sell it for $250 or more.

I don’t know. I have others with rotating bezels. I didn’t need this one, I suppose, but I really wanted solar power. I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually make one just like this AND with a rotating bezel, but I don’t know.

Ehh I’ll be keeping my MDV106-1A since it has a screw down crown. Replacing it with solar isn’t enough to switch. Casio in my opinion missed it with this model.

Which month is the 27th? 🤔😂

This is all good until a bezel that should be a unidirectional is fixed.

THE BEZEL should be rotating and this would tumble down all current divers watches

Funny that a square G Shock has twice the water resistance than this diver style watch.

To be fair, the Casio website calls it a “CASIO Diver Inspired Solar Analog Watch.” I don’t know why they didn’t make it a rotating bezel since they must know how much folks enjoy that on the Duro. But I, for one, find myself never turning the bezels on my diver-inspired watches anyway. The only times I seem to touch them is when I notice they’re not aligned directly with the 12:00 marker and I turn them to be that way.
