Thanks to Rick Rubin for his insight into what Johnny cash still had to offer. I am a long time fan of Johnny cash and I am now a fan of Rick Rubin and thanks to Rick Rubin. I miss you Johnny but your music will go on for ever. The great Johnny cash will never die.

I think Rick Rubin gave more of a damn about Johnny Cash than Nashvile did in the 1990's and I am sure teeangers and 20 somethin's that listen to Red Chili Peppers, Slayer, Nirvana, and Weezer like Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. Wanna bet?

I graduated high school in 92 and liked all of the above at the time and still do. I hated mainstream country though

I'm 26 and I am happy to say I've been a Cash fan for about 13 years now, thanks to my dad. He used to play an old Johnny Cash Greatest Hits album which I really liked but it was hearing the work he did with Rick Rubin that really made me a fan for life especially American Recordings. The Man In Black & his guitar. I don't think you can beat that. That's just amazing music.

Mr.. Johnny Cash= integrity forever. The Kris Kristofferson thumbs up is priceless. I had the privilege of hanging around with Kris around the coffee houses of the Prince Arthur McGill ghetto. Another Prince of truth in country music. Thanks for the fantastic memories Kris.

"It's all him..all of his paradoxes" that's an amazing summery from his daughter. Cash was a paradox and wasn't controllable any more because he didn't need Nashville anymore. Their loss was our gain.

Historical murder ballads? Is that what you call misogyny and singing about violence against women?
