I'm 28. I never knew Cash and Petty played together. They are both 2 of my favorite artist of all time. That makes my heart smile.

I maintain that Johnny was a Rock Star. He played country music, but he was a Rock Star.

He was a country star. Rock and roll didn’t invent being a rebel , my gosh…. It’s very old fashioned actually. Jazz stars, blues stars.

John Cash 's "Hurt" and that album "American IV" converted me to Country music in my 40's. I grew up loving Mozart, Bach and Beethoven (who i still love)

Rusty Cage was the perfect song to cover and not just because Grunge was about being real and gritty. It fit his situation perfectly. Nashville tried to lock him up as a revered relic but he wasn't having it.

The Grammys are in lock step with artists that can win based on name recognition, because Grammy voters literally don’t listen to the music.

I find it interesting that we never knew he did this album really until he died. This makes me angry at the radio stations for not playing his work. No Johnny is a fighter ..perseverance inspite of controversy ..he cut his teeth on.

Sadly, country music has degenerated into a rap fest about booty shorts and tailgate parties. Do any of you know your music history? Do any of you have any sort of roots? A cultural, familial stability? Sorry for the big words. But suck it up Buttercup. Country. Real Country is about working hard, playing hard. loving hard, praying hard. There is ethics, faith and a general, ( even if you sin a little )sound moral background to the music. Everything that is missing now a days. What plays on the top 40 stations is not country. You might as well listen to Kanye (you know, the dude that banging Brucella's daughter).

The new country singers are a bunch of Nancy boys. Country is supposed to be sung by guys who lived the life of poverty, crime , tragedy and humor.

And they would reject him again and again. It’s like rock radio playing 60 year old Eric Clapton or Paul McCartney instead of young Nirvana during the 90s. Or rap radio playing run dmc all of a sudden, again decades later. Your disrespect of the country music audience is cringey. How predictable, some white dude believes how he sees things is the right way to see things.

And CMT played this video. Calling themselves out? Confusing. But with the internet, I don't have to listen to modern country radio which is embarrassingly bad, just watered down pop. Modern country music has truly lost its soul.
