Right up there with the missing 18 minutes from the Nixon tapes in the annals of great American mysteries.

On the one hand, knowing the drama behind the scenes makes Casey's performance even more impressive. On the other, seguing out from an uptempo song didn't matter at all, as the nicely delivered story did its job of setting the mood regardless of what was last played. So Casey was overreacting there, but he was also a pro for making it work.

Agreed. He was a perfectionist, and he was having a bad day. Only difference between him and us, is he had his bad day with an open mic nearby, and tape rolling!

Make me wonder how they picked out the long distance dedications. I dare they use to get hundreds if not thousands of them a week. Would have to have back stories that stoodout.

And yet when he calmed down enough, he totally nailed it. His vocal talent was up there with Orson Welles, who also had meltdowns in the studio when he was legit dealing with idiot directors and engineers.
