1981. My brother Richard Bassil, (RIP) is on bass. This song was a top ten hit. Atlanta Lady, off the same album, was also in the top twenty that year. Both songs written by Jesse Barish.

Hi Jonathan. I am Anthony. I played with your brother and guitarist John DeCaro after that had left Marty's band. I am a drummer. I often wondered what happened to Rich and John. I am really sorry to hear that Rich passed. I played with them for a few years and we had a band called Total Stranger. We start playing all around the Philly Tri State area. I have a few cassettes of recordings that i made from live shows and studios we went to record at. The band was really good. I used to love to hang with your brother cause he was funny. I remember him hauling around his big bass rig that was on wheels and a cover that had Balin written on it in Red. I just came across this video and wanted to let you know i had the pleasure of knowing your brother.

sweet score Love Marty Ballin never did get a chance to listen to the album CD might be available on line Marty Ballin Love Your Heart❤
God, what a great singer. His phrasing, his dynamics, his heart and his masculinity on his sleeve when he sang. Only Lenny Welch could be called comparable.
Disfrutando esta hermosísima canción en Mayo 2024 ❤ Se ve el sentimeinto con que canta esta canción Marty Balin. Y todos los músicos excelentes. Grandioso el bajista Richard 👍

@@bassil1 Did he write the bass line? If so, i wonder why he doesn't get writing credit. Does he get residuals for when song is played? Of is it more like a contract job where they come in and play for a flat one time fee?? I just practiced this song last night : )

@@zxccxz164 Yes I suppose he did..it’s pretty simple. You will not get songwriter’s credit for it, however…just pay for the session.
I love Marty. Jefferson Starship is one of my favorite bands. The Marty Balin era of starship was the best. Makes my heart melt when I hear his voice. ❤️❤️🩹
This man was the best voice of Jefferson Starship/etc.... Yeah I know, Grace Slick and she had a great voice too., but Marty Balin = Best All Around Voice ever... Here in this video he goes flat sometimes at the end of a line, but it's live, and sometimes that happens...He was so young in this video !!!!

And when they are younger their voices are still developing. If you listen to Def Leppard and K. C. And the Sunshine band, their voices changes for the better as I am sure Marty Balin’s did as well. What a genuinely beautiful voice.
If I could have kissed him just once I would never have asked the gods for anything else.
Hermosa cancion

Didn't care much for his solo stuff but loved his work with JA and JS. He was a fantastic singer and the backbone of some of their best tunes.
Not the greatest voice ever, but his songs always hit you right in the guts.
