As you may know, I am a big supporter of cartoon Animator and I've used it since I started my animation journey.
But there is another popular animation software out there called Moho. So how does it compare and which one will I use? Will I switch or will I stay?
I discuss this in this video

Thanks for your effort in this comparison, but it will be more helpful if you insert some videos and examples, no offense! but it is too dull only talking

In Moho, you can create actions that are reusable as motions without having to recreate them. It saves a lot of of time. Cartoon Animator is best for short quick animations which is helpful in this case. Moho allows for better looking smooth animations. It all depends on your needs. For 360 bodies Moho is best.

How does Moho compare with the automatic lip sync in Cartoon Animator? How do the Mocap features compare? It should also be noted that CrazyTalk Animator had the ability to move in 3 directions. The problem was the complexity of rigging the Flash Symbols. The Puppet Tool by Ibis Fernandez made it easier, but it was and still is very labor intensive. Iharacter t should be noted again that these G2 characters can still be created in Cartoon Animator with the Toon Titan Puppet Creator by Fernandez.

I have to agree with you cartoon animator is great for starters and if want to make short animation. if you want to level you skill up your animation than moho is a great addition.I am gonna use both to improve myself.

The motions ( at an extra cost ) are a big time saver in Cartoon Animator if you are looking for quick short animations, but the cost can add up very quick $$$. But if that's what you need and you don't mind spending the extra money, that will work well for you.

If you are going to make a new animation program, features I like: Moho has the Wind feature, you bone your plants and they blow fast slow and independently, good for hair and clothes too. In CA, you have to rig a lot of spring bones to do that. Also, I like the Parallax feature in Moho better. Also look at this animation software called Mental Canvas. It's all about having transparent parallax slides to draw on (which you can do in Moho and CA, but you also can turn your canvas at an angle thus creating a 360 x, y, z world. It's hard to bring in a .gif file into CA. you have to key every frame in. I don't know about Moho. I think I would just .gif all my characters walking and just import them in to save time. I think Moho has a path maker so your character follows a path. Canva and PowerPoint have one. Also, I am looking for a process to put a Mixamo movement onto a 2D character. Some people have done it but not good tutorials. In CA, you can only put it on a G3 character.

Moho look amazing, and the fact that you can animate Raster artwork is extremely compelling. But it is just so hard to learn! And tedious when you do!

@@startanimating695 I had started animation with Anime Studio 10. So i have been using Moho since their babyhood. But it is still tedious. Drawing, masking, setting up smartbones, handling libraries in Moho just are. I have been outsourcing more and more task to blender. And even though im less familiar with it, it just faster and more convinient. Since the premier of the grease pencil the community got more intresred in 2d animation. I have to say Blender modifiers and shortcuts are magic. It is simply less steps to do anything in it and you have way more options.

Excellent tutorial ! Even if some video is missing to illustrate your point. I think like you that Cartoon Animator has amazing functions and is more accessible for a beginner. But to progress in animation and improve myself I will use Moho.

I have CT5 and Moho 12.5. Moho is so much more faster and never had a crash as in CTA5 I've got a lot. CTA5 always spins my CPU, too. and veeeery slow.I so much regret buying it, even though these phisics things are cool. (Moho 14 has it too though)

Mark Diaz of 2D animation (training co with courses for several Reallusion products) had a presale earlier in the year for a course on how to use 360 full body rotation with cartoon animator so I'm pretty sure this is in the works at Reallusion. Also, I'm curious if you use the webcam or Live Face mocap options for CA and whether that gives you more control over the facial expressions? The spring motions for hair etc in CTA5 makes the world of a difference for more realistic animation - perhaps it's time to upgrade? ;)
