I don’t think either of them are. Aiden was perfect and everything she thought she wanted from Big, but she grew bored of him and started an affair. Same with Big and Natasha. Carrie likes the chase and Big knows deep down she’s not the marrying kind. In real life they didn’t marry each other but they wanted a Hollywood ending for good ratings or whatever.

I remember watching this series as teenager and thinking how cool Big is, it was, no wonder all the ladies like him. Rewatching this at 36, it is such different experience. Guy is rich and that is all. Huge ego, and acting at 40+ like big man child. Almost all his cool moves are related to money -> giving Carrie 40K, buying their dream apartment. All of his perfection and coolness was from Carrie's point of view. No wander he treats her as doormat, she made him into some uber being, instead of seeing him as who he really was.

I agree. When he went to paris to " rescue " her I was so happy. Now as a 38 year old after watching carrie tell him off right before she left I thought finally she grew a spine! They are so toxic 4 eachother. The show creator darren starr & the original writer both said it was a mistake to have carrie & big wing up together. Darren said it killed the whole message of rescuing & finding ur own happiness & not necessarily meaning ur happiness depends on a man. I think Charlotte's story when it comes to a man was just much better. Yea her goal was to be a mom & wife. Their is nothing wrong w/ that. She wanted the ideal man & to have the easy road to kids. She met the tall dark & handsome yale bred wealthy neurosurgeon in trey. On paper they were perfect beautiful people who were wasps came from wealthy backgrounds & were educated & successful. As soon as charlotte could not get pregnant easily things fell apart. His mom was way to involved in treys life & he told her very personal things. I also like when they split trey was not portrayed as some monster. He posed for the home & gardens spotlight b/c it was important to her. Even though they had a pre nup he gave her that beautiful Manhattan apt. He finally stood up to his mom in the telegram about giving Charlotte anything she wants ( albeit through telegram not in person so trey still had some growing to do w/ his mom but that was a big step ) a domineering oedipal mother son thing is a horrible thing & really does ruin a marriage or relationship. Then she met harry. He was not conventionally good looking like trey but charlotte was comfortable w/ him he made her laugh he treated her like a queen & I loved that they both compromised to be together. He told her he had to marry a jewish woman. It was something that was important to him. He wanted his kids raised Jewish. So this led to charlotte telling him as he was upfront w/ her that it was not hopeless that she had a bio baby but odds were not good. He did not even blink. He told her of theyd cant have kids theyll adopt. So by not being so glued to her ideals she found her soul mate. When she stopped obsessing over a baby she was able to get pregnant. She miscarried but it was encouraging b/c she at least was able to get pregnant. They adopted their little girl & than she finally got pregnant again & carried to term. I know this happened to my aunt. She adopted a baby & a few years later got pregnant. This is a lot more common than people think. They stop feeling such pressure & it happens. So in the end charlotte achieved her dreams by growing & changing

I think people misunderstand the whole you’re not the marrying kind comment, Carrie literally wasn’t? She never was a traditional girl where she wanted the ring, the wedding and the children? She asked Big for a really big closet instead of a diamond engagment ring?! When they did decide to marry. It was his way of letting her know he knows exactly the type of woman she is and that this whole marriage fiasco she’s giving him is rubbish, she wasn’t the marrying kind, unless it was Big of course. As toxic as they both were they did have a lot of chemistry. The writers messed with us a lot because there would be times you’d be thinking wake up Carrie he isn’t into you! But then you’d see her try to move on and Big was chasing her like a rash?! So bad, but as toxic as it was they were for eachother.

Pour moi c'est l'histoire d'une femme un peu enfant qui se perd beaucoup trop dans ses questionnements. Elle a une dépendance affective et s'accroche à un homme qui ne veut pas d'elle. Même après toute ces années elle n'a pas le déclic pour se dire "maintenant c'est fini je mérite mieux que mr big" dommage. Sinon j'adore cette série car l'amitié entre les 4 filles et leurs vies est vraiment cool.

Chemistry NOT enough.

Well you dont get to be that age and still single because you make good choices. Big divorced twice and Carrie who is over 30 and ruined both her major relationships because she was pretending to be something shes not and both men would have prefered her to be fully herself. Aden wouldn't have been foolish enough to stick around and big would have respected her. Aden wanted a loving wife, a drama free life and a family. Thats not something carrie can offer. She would have been much better suited to stay with Big. Had she been able to listen to him when he told her whatche wanted and needed and had she been honest with him and not tried to be "together carrie" and then lash out when she doesnt get her way. I think if they had better communication their chemistry would have brougjt tjem back together time and time again but with a better outcome.

It was around 2000. Rent was far far cheaper in Manhattan, even after accounting for inflation. And Carrie’s apartment was rent-controlled, as we learn in a different episode. But of course, this is make believe. Somebody with a career writing a measly sex column probably wouldn’t be able to afford that lifestyle in real life.

They have chemistry but it's a shame everything was so toxic at the start and she had to cheat on the really sweet guy Aiden who showered her with love. Carrie really obviously wanted big to propose to her and Aidens proposal just wasn't enough. I'd marry Aiden in a heart beat!
