Exactly! She was so pathetic and clingy. She could waited for the guy to ask... It's Paris. She could have insinuated she wanted she wanted to go... But no, she went psycho.

Becky Goodhair thing is... this show depicts many men in its entirety flesh and bone unfortunately. I mean, just look at the guy you replied this to, he thought it was pathetic and psychotic and clingy going out to proof the entire point of this episode. So after all it’s not just a show it’s real life.

Also Big could have just implied he wasn’t going to propose just because she moved (kind of like Charlotte expected proposal soon after she converted for Judaism and caused the fight between her and Harry).

@jazinegrrrl Perfect insight. To think she ends up with the guy. I get he's a fan favorite. Suave, debonair yada yada. But for him to go through such a major character transformation with only an affair as an altering arc, rings unrealistic to me. In the real world, Carrie would be his second ex wife.

I never looked at the 2 of them and went ohhh how romantic everrrr. They were 2 adults who were supposedly worldly and sophisticated and experienced but their r/s seemed dysfunctional, a living breathing wreck. I felt there was no purity in the feelings they had for each other. It was just sex, fine dining, the occasional sleepover at each other's homes and a whole plethora of conflicts because of being on different pages. The only r/s in the 6 seasons I felt envious of was the one of Charlotte and Harry. The way she told him I dont care if you ever marry me I just wanna be with you and then he knelt to propose. That beats Carrie's moments with Big in expensive dresses inside expensive restaurants any day.

You forgot when miranda told steve she loved him in the laundry room. That beats charlotte's proposal moment in my opinion. I mean to hear those words coming from miranda... you KNOW she meant them. And then Steve just smiling and going- i love you too. I mean COME ON, it's *you* " sorry but even typing the scene out brings tears to my eyes let alone watching it. It was so pure, so genuine, so unexpected. In a fucking laundry room, no romantic setting, no marriage proposal, no streets of paris with the eiffel tower in the background(carrie's case in the last ep), just completely unplanned and heartfelt and i love that she had known for a long time but took a while to admit it so it was real from the start whether she knew it or not. Best moment in the whole show

YES! Everyone acted like Big was this horrible person for not wanting her to come to Paris, but realistically? He wasn’t wrong. Carrie would have uprooted her whole life to follow him to Paris for a year, and as we all saw in season 6, that is a terrible idea- she was miserable and lonely in Paris. And what pisses me off the most? Carrie literally led Aiden on two seasons later, to the point where she *accepted his marriage proposal* even though she did not actually want to marry him. And this was after cheating on him, too. And yet Big was somehow the problem? Yeah, I don’t think so. Carrie was a terrible girlfriend who made everything, even Big’s work obligations, about her.

Thank you! I was going to comment something like this, but you've said it. Big was always honest with Carrie: he found her interesting and wanted sex. He never made any indication of wanting a relationship. Carrie pushed and tried to get more personal. Big knrw Carrie was immature and emotionally unstable so he never wanted outright to tell her, "Look. I'm not into you". Big's only fault is that he should have cut off all ties with her to make it clear that he didn't want her.

cirila dewi lanch oh well. Men act like this only because you allow them to. When you find someone that doesn’t respect you and treats you shitty you just have to let them go and move on. Clearly Big never really wanted a serious relationship with Carrie, yet she kept pushing and going back to him and trying to make it happen. She looked desperate to him and men don’t find desperate women attractive at all. So if someone doesn’t want you, have some self respect and let them go. Their loss. But what do I know huh

The scene is completely realistic in my opinion, especially when she says you said you loved me and he replies.. I do.. while he’s also saying not to move to Paris for him? It’s a complete mind fuck, that would confuse anyone. People can say what they want about Carrie she was immature, a shit friend, she was pathetic etc but I can’t fully blame her in this on and off relationship, he was like a magnet to her, he would chase her and then push her away in such an ongoing cycle, and it was hard for her to completely cut it off especially because he had money, class, and she was attracted to him etc and when you really look at it he wasn’t an awful evil guy, he just wasn’t the best when it came to their on and off toxic relationship , he never really knew what the hell he was doing! I wouldn’t be surprised if he had met Natasha around this time and so he was off with Carrie all of a sudden Iv been in a situation like that, where I was in a toxic on and off relationship with a guy who would mind F me constantly, telling me he didn’t want a relationship and girlfriend right now but if he did he would date me, it was a mess. But he ended up cutting me off when he did meet another girl behind my back and behaved like Big did here. In the end they didn’t last just like Big and Natasha didn’t, and he did try contacting me and crawling back into my life, only I grew up and I forced myself to leave him in the past. Sometimes I wish Carrie had of been as strong to do so too! But sometimes I can’t help but love their relationship here and there throughout the show.

Carrie kept going off by the rails, throwing fits at Big's place, at parties, in restaurants, in the streets everywhere really and that's just fine. There's no great love, not even much in common except they're both narcissists. She wanted the status, glamor and riches he could provide.

Look, some women want more casual relationships, some are looking for more of a commitment. We're not a monolith. But the issue here was a woman more interested in commitment with a man who was not. That's just a toxic set up and it's not going to work. I think Big was misunderstood with this Paris thing tbh. He said he didn’t want to tell her until he got more details because it wasn’t 100% happening and she freaked out about how he never factors her in and then says to him the next day “I’m not gonna come” which either means she just invited herself or he wanted her to come. And also he says “I have to be in a relationship where if I have to go to Paris I have to go to Paris” which probably means his previous wife wasn’t bothered that he went away for long amounts of time as it was for work and he himself didn’t think it was as big of a deal as Carrie thought it was as she has probably never been in a long term relationship with a wealthy business man who puts his work as one of the main priorities. He just thought if he told Carrie it would be a quick talk and not a deep chat and assumed that they would do long distance/ he would come to NY a few times and vice versa. So Carries outburst was confusing to him and at this point he realized he couldn’t be with someone who didn’t understand what his work requires that’s why he replies with “I understand”. So in conclusion Big wasn’t the bad guy in this situation but instead needed someone who understood his work. It was not about that he didn’t love Carrie, which he did, it was about his job.
