    You know, I always think about the scene where Carrie says "35 is not 25" and Miranda responds with "Thank God" every time my birthday rolls around or when I worry about getting older. I interpret Miranda's line meaning that the older you get, the more wise and less immature you become, so it always makes me feel a bit more comfortable about aging. I'm grateful for it. 🙂

    You had misunderstanding with your girls or something? ..Well ...there are saying in Japan " a man have 7 enemies while he steps outside the house" while we make up new one which goes " women have 70 enemies while she goes outside ( for work)" and then, I personally created another saying " women&feminism 's enemy is men, but if you are female who got pretty face, you have countless (unseen) enemies amongst women". So do not be discouraged girl, you let go and make new friend! I'm really mot sure how to comfort you but mine too got married all overseas + one just lost touch with me (after there was rumor that she said something horrible about me) ...I'd always assume, although she was my intimate friend, she had personal mental problem by birth or by environment (=not her fault) and cherish our memories, ... OR wonder maybe she never said horrible things about me but there was some evil enemy making up lies to hurt our relationship out of jealousy.... Anyway, I don't think about her it get easier and easier with time.....I assume she is doing fine wherever she is, she once used to be chosen by me as friend she should be tough :) ! Yours probably doing fine cherishing your memories... just don't think into it. Ppl daily die you lose friends, you assume she is gone, you will be ok💪🏻 it's not like former-soulmate ever be your frenemies....💮

    Charlotte is the most positive uplifting friend and Miranda is a mega realist who knows she doesn't really need a man to complete her and she's well off and Samantha is just a goddess who could get whoever she wanted to be honest and as the show wore on, Carrie became more and more selfish and bitchy. But altogether they all meshed I guess

    Savannah Buxton Why the misogynistic language and why does every SatC clip become a Carrie-bashing fest, even when she behaves well in the clip? She did nothing wrong here. Char judged Samantha in the series all the time. And Samantha was deeply flawed. She cheated too. It’s such a night vs day experience coming from clips of The Sopranos, my other favorite HBO show. Guys root for and empathize with Tony through all of his horrid flaws and his were much worse than Carrie’s. What is it about flawed female protagonists that inspires such intense ire that male ones do not? It’s like women have no code or loyalty or ability to empathize with their metaphorical sisters. The gendered socialization really smacks you in the face when viewing these spaces for commentary back-to-back. Women’s internalized misogyny is just off the charts in this era.

  • @AddBowIfGirl

    @AddBowIfGirl

    3 жыл бұрын

    25 Yes you can criticize women and their choices. I never said that you couldn’t or shouldn’t. How did the show itself constantly point out that Charlotte was deeply flawed? She was written to be unapologetically traditional-leaning and most fans adored that writing choice and adore her character. What are you talking about? You don’t think Carrie cheating on Aidan was meant to be seen as a flaw? Charlotte caught Carrie cheating in one episode and called her out in a way that the audience, me included, agreed with. You think the writers meant for us to disagree with Charlotte in that scene? Then there’s the scene where Carrie tries to apologize to Natasha after all the cheating and Natasha has the most brilliant response subverting viewer expectations at the time that, again, fans agreed with. Your interpretation that the writers meant for us to see Carrie as flawless and perfect is so incredibly wrong and ridiculous. She was clearly written very deliberately to be a human, so naturally flawed, character. What “quirky” behavior of Carrie’s didn’t age well? No, women calling women misogynistic slurs, and hating them disproportionately and beyond what is reasonable, and being unable to see their humanity because they make bad decisions sometimes, very much _is_ a display of misogyny. Misogyny that I called “internalized misogyny” because if you’re a woman with such gender biases in your subconscious, that means that it’s your own kind you’ve been brainwashed to despise and throw to the dogs so easily. Irrationally hating or having inhumane double standards for your own kind is hating internally. You didn’t actually make an argument at the end there. You didn’t even explain how I was wrong. You just said sort of sarcastically that it was hilarious. But why is what I said hilarious? My observation that men are more kind and empathetic to flawed male characters (and real men by extension) than women are to flawed female characters (and real women by extension) is both valid and true. Nothing is misogynistic about noticing the lack of sisterhood with women vs the very strong brotherhood and “bros before hoes” mentality most men seem to have either consciously or subconsciously.

    The special valueband uniqueness of this show is that it’s not just a show, or some comedic romantic shit with a lot of namess guys and a couple of sexy ladies. It’s a show that spans from one time to another. When we are in our 20s, doubting abt life, we watch it; when we are in our 30s and worrying abt getting old, we remember it; and when we are in our 50s - or, 140s (haha), we were still missing it , in a way that’s so nostalgia that, one night, after dating and happy talk with your soulmates of whatever kind they are, you may find yourself bingewatching it scene by scene on KZread. That’s the value of the show.

    I didn't have a meltdown. I am the only person who lied about her age the other way: I said I was 30 when I was 23. On the night before my 30th birthday, I was watching the clock with dread, stupidly convinced I wouldn't see my actual 30th because I'd lied about it 🤦🏻‍♀️

    I love Samantha. I am 43. I am so grateful that I am not trapped in a hellish marriage with a guy I don't love and screaming children bc I felt so desperate to be married. I am a university and college educated woman with a great career, and an awesome home and vehicle which I purchased myself. Any man would have to be able to offer me something better than what I have in order to be with me. Get your head out of the sand woman.

    Welcome to her box. Her box as in the check mark box for her age. But box is also slang for a female body part.

  • @alyssaheller7860

    @alyssaheller7860

    Жыл бұрын

    I don't think it was used as a double entendre. Samantha was talking about the age frame box. Samantha was a bit older than carrie, charlotte, and Miranda and generally had the most healthy views on and relationship with her age, aging, her body, and sex. She was open minded and non judgemental. Samantha was really wonderful and such a great friend. Why, in the context of this scene and this conversation would Samantha ve talking about her vagina? Carrie was feeling insecure about getting older and turning 35, from moving from the 30-34 box on forms to the 35-45 box. And Samantha, was making her feel better by that comment which said Carrie wasnt alone in that box and Samantha was older and still looked great, had no trouble getting a man, men were still attractive to men/ Samantha was still desireable, etc. Exactly what would the point of the double entendre be? Just cuz box is another slang word for a womans vagina, doesnt mean it was being used as a double entendre here. If it was, it made no sense. And im an English major.
