In seriousness, I think it only counts as "cooking" if you expose it long enough for the temperature of the actual food to get that high. Hopefully that's not happening because I think most food would be kinda gross after a lukewarm simmer at 120 F, regardless of whether you're trying to keep it raw or not...

yeah, I can completely relate to that. and you know what?- they make it by grinding the whole dry thing- both skin and flesh of the carob pod, removing just the seeds. so the powder is very astringent/acidic- just like most of the commercial nut products /nut milk/ yoghurt etc/, btw. if you don't remove the skin prior to processing, , acidity/astringency is guaranteed.

@@veronicavieyra4392 Nope, cocoa powder is definitely vegan, no problems there. If memory serves, some vegans believe(d) that the theobromine in chocolate was addictive, toxic and overexcited the body or some rot like that. I like trying new things, so I gave it a shot. Chocolate simply cannot be mimicked.

A couple years ago I declared it my 1970s Hippie Carob Revival Year! I was a self-professed carobaholic in the 1970s. In tiny little health food stores we could get carob coated candy bars, carob ice cream, carob chips, carob "nestle quick" for milk, carob powder for baking, etc. In the 1980s we could get Edensoy's Carob soy milk. So a couple years ago I started baking with it again. Sadly, this year (2019) was the death knell for buying carob powder at Whole Foods and my local grocery store-- they removed Bob's Red Mill Carob Powder and Chatfield's Carob Powder from their shelves. Now I have to get it at the health food co-op and they carry it in the small bulk containers with the bulk spices. For the record, my favorite current carob treat is a carob cupcake with a carob glaze. P.S. Yes, you can get raw carob powder online, but I get the roasted style.

wow that's probably the first time I've heard an american talk about a "product" (let's include food here) that is difficult to get for them but readily available in my country. I mean not that I am a fan of carob, but I do make an effort every once in a while to do a sneaky cake with it or something and my go to recently has been banana bread with carob and it's pretty good! and this is coming from me, who also thinks the smell and taste of carob on its own is like crushed tree bark with forest dirt or something, I Hate the smell. but ye when I combine it, I can live with it lol (my partner Loves it, also chews the stalks(?) on their own like a giant weirdo so I try to make it work somehow lol)

Could you do a video on Raw Bliss? His videos are honestly quite concerning, even as raw foodists go.

The impact from eating raw is anything but peaceful. The amount of bananas and food shipped from other countries and omg the irradiated almond thing. If it's the way people are supposed to eat it should be sustainable too.
