That was a turning point. You know Melo got that bag to go to Syracuse. The NBA then, was against helping the the high school jump partnership with NCAA. Look at KD at Texas highlights. They both got paid.

Couldn’t believe he was a freshman. Most polished college player I’ve seen. Excellent post player, great transition/open court, mid range, long ball, good handles, good rebounder, played through contact...different

Zion didn't need college and Duke did not even make it to final four even though they were one of the favorites to win the tournament. Melo won a national championship on a team that wasn't even ranked before the season start.

His worst game in that tournament was against Oklahoma State, who had a guy named Tony Allen guarding him for a lot of it. He ended up being one of the best defensive wings in NBA history. Auburn had Marquis Daniels, who had a 10 year NBA career. Melo looked like a polished NBA all-star level player at 18 years old. As great as he was, that Syracuse team was fairly loaded. They had Warrick at PF, who was an all-american the next 2 years, and played 8 years in the league. Gerry McNamara is a legend at Syracuse, and not just because of 2003. They had a solid bench that year too.

Carmelo Anthony is a legendary basketball player and is one of the best basketball players who has ever played basketball. When he played at Syracuse that is when most people who knows basketball knew he would be a hall of fame basketball player

When young Melo was flooding it was crazy. At one point he was unstoppable on the block... Quickness and strength. The NY rip with the 3s only..Long term investment on those knees. One of the best. Given props.

Melvin sanders did an amazing job of guarding Anthony in that ok st game.

Carmelo is one of the best 3 level, iso scorers of all time. An underrated skill as an offensive player is the ability to manipulate the defenders body and use their physicality against them. A lot of scorers are looking to avoid the defender while Carmelo is looking for the contact.

Maybe maybe not. The Knicks built their system around him -- he was their guy -- and they never achieved much success. As a Knicks fan I'm jaded, but I think the jury is out as to whether a Melo-centric roster could ever win a chip
