Because he never won anything. Didn’t win an mvp, defensive player of the year, never made it to the finals. I don’t know if he’s ever made it to a conference finals. Don’t know if he ever won a scoring title either. So to me he was a superstar in his time and was arguably top 5 players in the league with Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Melo, Tim Duncan. So now at the end of his career hes honestly got no accomplishments in his nba career aside from 3 gold medals and a college championship, but again nothing in the nba. So it’s sad he never won anything and because of that he will never be regarded as a top 50 players of all time. But he had everything individually to be one.

In my opinion, Melo is the best scorer to ever play the game. A dominant 3 level scorer. A bull in the paint, a mid range specialist, and crazy range from beyond, and gets hot fast. If he had a flaw in his game, he can be a blackhole type player. He is so good, his teammates can get stuck watching him, and their mind gets taken out of the game.

Melo was amazing. He was the only players in his time that was taking and making tough contested shots consistently. His problem was that he couldn’t do it in the flow of an offense. The ball would always get stuck with him while everyone clears out. It kinda killed the flow of the game. Nowadays you have to play and get your shots in the flow of the offense like KD. Even Luca and Kyrie can’t win even though they are amazing iso players. I noticed over time that no matter how good a player is, if he dominates the ball to much it doesn’t always translate to wins, even if he plays well. The flow and pace of the offense is more important in these times.

The truth is he never quite took care of his body and when the little athleticism he got started to drop he could no longer score at the efficient high clip that he did and so he’s weaknesses started to show more. As great of a superstar as he was he was never a great passer nor a great defender, he could rebound but he wasn’t an elite rebounder. The best thing he did was score and when that started to go down due to age he seemed useless. No need in paying him max dollars when he wasn’t ALL THAT anymore. He could no longer truly be the best player on a team and carry them, and his ego wouldn’t accept a lesser role so he was out of the league and had to humble himself and learn to play a lesser role. Same thing was happening to Westbrook. If the Clippers hadn’t signed him(and shown new life with them) that boy would be out of league cause nobody wants him for the same reason nobody wanted Melo anymore.

@@brandonsantiago2298 🧢🧢🧢 he wouldnt accept a lesser role yet he came off the bench for 3 teams??? and he was on a vet min contract for 3 or 4 years so idk what "all that" money is. melo's scoring went down cuz of his role, age doesnt affect the skills he has. he can score on ANYBODY with 3 dribbles max. ask PG who set some okc scoring records in his first year there... MELO‼️ melo was balling and i'd love to ask PG or russ or billy donovan why melo got less touches as the season went on. ik they didnt have a gameplan for him cuz he was a last minute acquisition but it looked like melo went from option 2 to option 3, understandably since PG was in his prime, but even option 4 some nights

@@matttheknicksfan bro stop it, Carmelo kept thinking he was Nuggets/Knicks Carmelo and wanted to take a lot of shots and carry an offense when he no longer could. That’s why he didn’t fit well in okc and the rockets. He played only 10 games with the rockets and was cut, was out of the league until mentally he accepted a role players role, he talked about it himself for crying out loud. The Blazzers gave him and a chance and he proved he could still play good but as a role player, knowing his role, when to shoot and do his thing. Just the fact that you say that age doesn’t affect the skills that you have is idiotic. Of course your skills are there but when you age your body can’t do what it used to. So your mind is telling you one thing but your body does another. Why do you think people retire in the first place??? Their skills are there but when Father Time hits them they can’t keep up with young bloods, they can’t guard them, don’t have the energy and strength as before, don’t have the same jump or athleticism and it affects your game. So like I said when the best thing he had (scoring) started to go down then he could no longer hide his weaknesses cause he was never a great defender nor passer, nor an elite rebounder but he was a great scorer, now you can’t score as well and can’t defend, pass or rebound? You’re out we don’t need you. It was sad, it was very sad cause you still feel that a superstar like him should’ve gotten a better treatment from the league than to just cut him like he was nothing, when he was Carmelo friking Anthony. But his ego and attitude didn’t help. Carmelo still to this age doesn’t want to be a veteran player like Haslem or Duncan at the end of their careers where just mentors the young players. He wants to be a key player in a team and the league really ain’t finding use for him. I loved Carmelo in his days and to me was a top 5 players in the league with Kobe, Lebron, Wade and Duncan. But it is what it is now.

@@matttheknicksfan do you not watch basketball? Did Carmelo not struggle at the end with the Knicks? Did Carmelo not struggle with OKC and the Rockets? So I’m just making that shit up. When Carmelo got picked up by Portland and he was playing well, there was an interview of him saying he got mental health to help him cope with the situation and get his mind right that he could still play in the nba but truly accepting a role players role. I ain’t talking shit about him, I’m saying the facts. I loved Carmelo, and I believe he can still play in the nba. But the reality is he may not be considered one of the greatest ever, top 50 or so cause he didn’t have any accomplishments. No MVP, No scoring title, no finals appearance, no ring, no defensive player of the year heck not even an all star mvp I believe. So all that will take into account of him not being ranked as one of the greatest when comparing him to other legends. But Carmelo was a beast in his days and as I’ve said to me he was top 5 in the league from like 2007-2012. He should’ve won rookie of the year over Lebron in my opinion but it is what it is 🤷🏽‍♂️

Kawhi and KD have been wanting this showdown for years. KD wants Kawhi, and then he wants Steph, and then he wants what's left of LeBron, and then he wants Embiid or Giannis. Kawhi wants the same people, different order. This has been cooking in the pot since KD was in OKC and Kawhi was in San Antonio. Both healthy. Both at the apex of their games. Gotta see it all. The last time they really went at it was that overtime game in Toronto. I can hardly wait.

When I first saw him I thought he looked kinda out of shape (I don’t watch college ball so I had NO IDEA who he was) but that first step shut me up quick. His footwork, wasn’t the quickest but that first step was the best in the game. And the boy was a SNIPER. So what if he was a “blackhole” on offense. Give him the ball he’s gonna get you a bucket. He knew he could score at will.
