Apparently you’re not conscious of the 960 WC format … sorry you opted to reveal your ignorance publicly. Wesley crushed Magnus 13.5:2.5 in a total of 16 games. There’s no question Magnus is the better player overall, likely top 3 all-time, but Wesley played extremely well here and deserves tremendous credit for dominating an all-time great to win this tournament.

Excelling at Fischer Random, by my account, can also point to perhaps an underlying creativity unique from Magnuses. Perhaps if chess had gone in the direction Fischer wanted, we may have a different world champion. I have no actual idea though, maybe Magnus just wasn't putting his all into it like he might put into "real" chess games.

Instead of increments, the clocks should run very fast at first, and slow down a tiny bit at each move. This would force the openings to be looser, and allow the endgames to be a little more thoughtful. It's just a shame to see interesting games lost on time.

Very similar but I think bongcloud main line is 1.e4 followed by 2. Ke2. I should have mentioned the Bongcloud themes, completely forgot. Just found this here haha: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bongcloud_Attack 'Despite its obvious disadvantages, usage of such a "joke" opening can also have a psychological impact: following Carlsen's win over Wesley So in a 2020 blitz tournament with a 3+2 time control where Carlsen played 1.f3 (the Barnes Opening) followed by 2.Kf2 (a variant also named the "Bongcloud"[8][9], though this is more a pseudo-Bongcloud than a purist's Bongcloud), So noted that losing the game after such an opening had a crushing impact.[2]'

Merry Christmas and see you later! Thanks for the entertainment but most importantly for your positive attitude and good sense of humour. Actually, I can’t keep up with all of them as I am listening to your chess comments!!!! Each time I ear one, I wish to make a reply… but I don’t as time pass by and I want to move on.

There were mistakes on both sides - but Magnus was toying with his opponent... he doesn't have to fight seriously...
