Razzle k I think it’s because the Cardi interview had finished and because John wanted to give her a gift they asked her stay on stage for Johns interview. It felt a little awkward but I agree @MrBlueSky, Johns genuine attempts to keep Cardi engaged in the segment was very sweet. He seems like a really nice guy.

She was already interviewed. Typically when the first guest stays for the second they focus on the person who hasn’t been interviewed yet. They probably kept her on stage because John brought her a gift. Not uncommon for the first person to stay but typically they leave and the second interview starts.

I mean, what books are they reading where it has that extra ED at the end, and how do they pronounce words that end in TH with an F??!?!?? WTFFFFF??!?!!? I think they should axe for help. SMH

  • @mediocre_violist

C Hello, amateur comedian here. Stand-up comedy is actually pretty comparable to the WWE: the fighting is real to the extent that you can still get injured, but it is in a controlled setting where (hopefully) nobody dies. If you take the time to study the rules of the performance being put on, you can pick up on tiny things casual viewers might miss. I've been doing performing arts of some kind or another since I was 8. I know how to tell when a show is going wrong and how to think quickly to fix it. Jimmy is a skilled comedian when he has a script, but he does not know how to control himself when it comes to improv. John does. Cardi B doesn't have a full grasp of why people are entertained by her, but she knows that her personality has something to do with it. John is fully aware of his ridiculousness: he jokes about his insecurities and appearance all the time. He handles Cardi B’s offbeat comments well: she can't throw him off of his rhythm for long. When there’s a weird pause, he makes a comment at his expense, not anybody else’s. This keeps everyone comfortable and relaxed because, (like in wrestling), while it would be easy to go in for the cheap jab, it is much more skilled to wait until the right moment to hit your opponent with a full-body suplex.

i have so much respect for john mulaney here he was so inclusive of cardi. like typically someone sitting in the closer seat would just sit there talking up the host the whole time not sparing the other guest a second thought but the fact that he would turn and engage in conversation with cardi and make eye contact and get her a baby gift (even tho they said they just met!!), and how when he realizes hes talked a lot he would turn to her to say something was so fucking sweet of him. honestly he’s the guy in a circle of friends talking that would always make room for the new kid
