You know what I love? You can tell by his reaction that John Mulaney had no idea the question about "why were you carrying your dog like that" was coming which means he really, on the spot, made up an entirely new three minute stand up routine about walking his dog. This is why he's one of the best storytellers alive

Wow Hasan was so polite in this, it's clear he looks up to John so much and was a little awkward and shy. Nothing like he is with other guests, he's usually in control and he knows that it's his show so he can be confident but in this he seemed to tense up a little and let Mulaney kinda run it, but Mulaney was also a little shy and nervous for going impromptu. I still really loved this, it was so authentic and adorable!

@@sarasteinberg2905 Well its not so much that, but smart people lives intersect. His dad is a partner at Skadden which is a top corporate law firm, a target employer for many top lawyers. It wouldn't be unreasonable that Hasan's sister would want to work and get a job at that law firm. Skadden is a pretty big firm.

@@sarasteinberg2905 except they're not, people become famous more than they are born famous, they have private lives that are completely open to friendly faces, etc. it's not some secret club that you have to get an ominous letter to enter. John's parents aren't famous and neither are Hasan's IIRC and, coincidentally, the intersect occurs.

It's more than just existing tbh. He's said in other interviews that John is legitimately someone he looks up to, and he is Hasan's mentor. Also until these past few years John was known for being a writer. So he's a more behind the scenes person. So they might have hung out when the cameras were off.

I see the same thing he mentioned. I've worked with kids a long time and anyone who criticizes them as a group doesn't know what they're talking about. The kids and young adults i see are remarkable and they're living what they've been taught about being kind, peaceful, respectful and reasonable

@@xx___x I am trying to give her the benefit of the doubt, and say maybe she meant to say "don't act so young because it can come off as weird, in this day and age, to some people." but it came out "it seems weird" Especially if they don't know him. The hesitation before she said "weird," and the instant regret of her choice of words makes it seem like she just kindof didn't know how to phrase it on the spot. I myself was kindof like wtf? about the sack lunch bunch at first, but it's pretty wholesome to be trying to help the younger generation and give kids some relatable or healthy role models. M. Rogers type stuff idk. I'll withhold my judgment for now.

The only ppl these kids asked about were baby boomer era actors and musicians. Why didn't they ask about any gen x entertainers? Because they weren't as memorable or popular. Also the baby boomers made some of the Best classic rock music produced. It's Still popular worldwide and used in movies for soundtracks/backgrounds. Baby boomers have done some right and some wrong with their contributions to society, But So Has Every Generation Before us And Since us, so please stop with the 'ok, boomer' response. It's just disrespectful and dismissive to the whole generation that raised or helped raise the millennials and next generation after them.

I love how the young lady who answers John’s question at the end... reacts instantly to be sure she didn’t hurt John’s feelings. Her immediate display of empathy is exactly what Mulaney alluded to when Hassan asked him, “What’s unique about the present generation of kids & younger teens?”😊

Well I dont think thats a generational thing 2 be honest. Like I dont think kids who were mean or cruel wouldve been chosen 2 participate in that kind of stuff. Also when ur a kid growing up in a very diverse and liberal area you tend to be a lot more open and empathetic towards others because that is whats taught. That's how it was 4 me growing up in the 90s in the princeton area with all kinds of indians and asians at my school. We had a very diverse community. Shout out to central NJ kid at the end there!! He was 18 so technically not a kid but hey. And if u dont believe me lemme tell a quick story. In 6th grade this 1 guy in class said I was going to hell cuz im Jewish and ofcourse I was super upset about it (plus this dick was ALWAYS picking on me 4 literally anything including the size of my juice boxes & how pale I was) and we had a whole class/teacher formal meeting about it where everyone had to learn it wasnt ok to say things like that even if it was taught in your religion & that religion is beliefs, it doesnt mean any of them are true or correct & most churches dont take every word of the Bible literally anymore anyway and we have to respect eachothers feelings etc. There were other incidents where people were mean and our school did not tolerate it. Meanwhile in other states or areas there were and are insane things going on like gay bashing and rampant bullying and it's basically totally tolerated there or was when I was a kid so I think while we continue 2 make progress as a society on our maturity and empathy etc, where u live and the politics, religion and diversity around that play a big part.

I love that she wasn’t trying to be a smart ass. She was so earnest in her delivery, which is the only way it’s funny.

There's that moment when Jon's like, “Don't send my Dad something too weird, your sister still works for him.” I think that's why Hasan waited so long to do a colab, he was afraid.

John was funny, but honestly I don't think he gave very accurate impressions. Like he's not exactly _wrong_ about Stevie Nicks, but given what he said, you're still not going to understand 80% of references to her. Like yeah, frustrated mom playing her music in the car is true. Weirdo sorceress vibe is true. But from his account you wouldn't know that she was a legit rock star first. Cover of Rolling Stone multiple times legit. To '60s and '70s kids, she's someone who is cool and who it's cool to like. Most of his other answers are similarly one-faceted accounts. Funny though.

It's really dumb that you grew up in such a cultural bubble.You should rage at your parents for their neglect to assimilate you into the America that surrounded you. Most American pop culture figures are well-known internationally as well. This would also go beyond the anglosphere.

British comedian Michael McIntyre regularly does this on his show with celebrities too, except he sends some weird-ass text to everyone in the person's contacts (often including like the builder that did their bathroom renovation last year). The episodes are on KZread, the bit is called Send to All.
