    If the essence of carcinization is loss of a functional tail, increased mobility on the "ground," and maybe specialization of the first pair of limbs for grasping, hunting, and/or defense, then humans will not become crab because we ALREADY HAVE.

    This is a true story and it literally happened 2 weeks ago. So i was minding my own buisness doing homework. All of a sudden I heard a clacking sound similar to that of a dogs claws on wood. After realising I dont have a dog I looked behind myself only to my surprise I see a crab roughly the size of a soup bowl. To my shock, confusion, horror, and laughter I froze ther for a minute before running outside the room. We eventually got the crab out using a box and a towel. For reference we live in Florida, but we dont live next to the beach. We dont know how it got in. So yes I was almost assasinated by a crab and yes I will use that in Two Truths And A Lie. Now whenever I hear that dreaded sound I am reminded of my crab assasin. Edit: I have been diagnosed with PTCD (Post Traumatic Crab Disorder) And I am still recovering with weekly therapy.

And, technically, not both thumbs. One of them is just a super jointed index finger that can function as a thumb if needed. Still, it's an evolutionary trait that I wish we had adopted. Could you imagine having optional double thumbs?

    very random, but it finally clicked for me that the 9th episode of the old scifi show Farscape "DNA Mad Scientist" was inspired by carcinization! Female lead Claudia Black mutates and gets claw-like appendages from hybridizing with Pilot's arm, it's even possible Pilot's design was inspired by crabs, makes me nostalgic for old-school scifi writing, they really went to the weirdest of places for ideas, for the record; I never liked that episode but still love the show as a whole

  • @ginnyjollykidd

    @ginnyjollykidd

    Proof, please? Link a video? Kyle has already done one about how Anime-style running is not nearly as efficient as sprint-running like in Olympics. We, in our tetrapod formation are evolved to move our arms opposite the legs as we run. And forward. Running side-to-side strains knee muscles. While knees suffer a lot from the forces of forward running, the side muscles would bear the brunt of forces in side running. The biggest muscles are gluteus maximus and quadriceps. These are built for forward running and can bear the burden of long- distance running/hunting/chasing. Used by the side they wouldn't sustain balance or utilize the whole muscle to run and support the body. Running long distances would not be sustained.
