    Well done that man. These jobs always look waaay more difficult than they actually are. It’s usually the sheer amount of time that is required that kills off a job like this. Again, well done!

    Took the whole back end out of my friends motorhome and doing exactly the same. We glued in the panels yesterday and waiting for her to get out of bed before checking out yesterday's hard work. I've had it easy, she is an ex motorhome repair technician but bad health means she can't do the heavy or cramped work anymore. We replaced all the wood work and foam in the wall and used the very expressive panel glue to fix. We used a hot wire to cut the foam to thickness.

    Use terps to remove excess sealant. Don't use so called caravan sealant as doesn't last long, find a quolity marine sealant that sticks even when wet. Used this on my van with great success. 👍👍

    Brilliant, My Bailey however appears to have the insulation boded to the panel, and the bit I've tried was an absolute nightmare, the only thing I will do that you didn't is paint the wood side of the boards with Ronseal wood preserver/hardener as it plasticises the wood so water will never get through again

    Noticed some dampness in my VW T4 hightop camper. For the life of me I couldn’t figure out where water could be coming in. I’ve started removing bulkhead units and found the problem has been festering for some time. Followed the path of dampness and think I no know where the problem started from…one screw hole above the hightop window…( took window covers off to clean last summer don’t think I screwed it back properly) These last few months have been nothing but torrential rain and that one screw hole has caused me a headache but after watching your presentation I now feel it’s something I can do or at least attempt a repair. Thanks for posting, you did a great job of fixing yours

    Just watched your videos well impressed. My Luner Lexon Ultima 2015 has damp already behind the toilet and in the cupboard . My last Caravan elddis 2014 model completely split on the roof in the corner dealer not interested £500 repair bill. Now they want £1000 to repair damp in cupboard and behind toilet. Why are these caravans so poorly put together But cost so much. Now selling caravan will now lose a fair bit .

    Its so disappointing finding damp in the van some manufacturers are moving into solid walls and not using a light timber frame structure. The caravan structure goes through a lots of stress and twists when being towed and the joints in the cladding get tested and failure will lead to leeks. Unfortunately you don't find out about the damp until the staining appears on the panels and it could be leeking for a long period!! By this time your timbers will be effected etc. Thanks for watching my video I do go on a bit!! Best of luck with your future caravans.

    Hi Steve i sourced the board on line and found a company called O’Learys i think they are based in Liverpool area and provided good service. They have different patterns on their website you can match up with. You have to buy two sheets because of the way they post them out i think they were £80 for both and you can buy the adhesive from them. Best of luck hopefully the weather will be good for you unless you are indoors. Its not a difficult job and you will save hundreds of pounds doing it yourself and it will add value to the van. • @whatsuptoday8376

    @whatsuptoday8376

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi David. Its important to stop water entering. If you only have a small area effected then you may be able to save on the big job and prevent more water entering. Dampness will normally enter at the joints or around window and door openings unless you have damaged the van. Even after you have resealed it will take a long time for it all to dry out and ideally store the caravan in a dry place.

    Hi, I'm about to do my Avondale rear end, same as you've done. Did you do the side at the bottom because of the bubbling? Great to see the whole job being broken down.

  • @whatsuptoday8376

    @whatsuptoday8376

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Craig I had bubbling to the sides of the rear window caused by damp entering at the joint of the roof to the rear wall. It was pretty good at the bottom. I am tempted to add ventilation holes under my raer seat at skirting level to help dry out any dampness within this cavity as it is very well sealed and could also cause condensation which is another big one. I have been checking my work over the last few months and all is well. You may find that the ingress of water could be at a higher point and it is collecting on a timber frame member behind the board so once you have exposed the timber structure all will be revealed!!! you will need to sort the source of the damp first to prevent it from coming back. It is usually a simple fix!! to stop the damp entry but spend time to check it don't rush. Hopefully it will be obvious.Best of luck take photos and a video!!! Kind regards

I purchase it from Olearys caravan and motorhome supplies you can find them on the internet easy people to deal with. Best of luck with your repairs but its worth using the sealant tape its easy to use and sicks really well over the joint and gives a good seal but make sure you use a continuous strip if possible with no joints.
