Repairing A Damp Caravan: Part 2 - Removing outer plywood skin to reveal the timbers.

In this episode, Jamie returns to the caravan to remove the outer plywood skin to reveal the rotten timbers underneath. He also finds more damp in the sides of the caravan and begins to strip those walls back also. Finally, Jamie removes the top cupboards, which doesn't go exactly to plan!
Where will the damp end?
Who are we?
We’re Jamie & Stacey McNeill, two, 30-something professionals, who’d had enough of the rat race in summer 2018, when we quit our jobs and sold our house, in order to live full time in a touring caravan in Wales.
Our channel shows our journey living this way, the highs, the lows and everything else in between. We also use our platform to advocate to others, the benefits of living a lower stress, more balanced lifestyle.
We have built our KZread reputation to date on honesty and integrity - you won’t find us using ‘click bait’ titles or nudity to draw in ‘cheap views’. We’re here for the long-term to show that this way of living can be a lifelong change for you as well as us.

Great videos, thanks for posting! I've got to do similar at the rear end of my Avondale Sandmartin. The top kitchen cabinet is starting to fall apart due to the awning pulling the side wall away from the roof join where it must have already been weakened by water ingress from the awning rail (unfortunately I've been working away this year). It's going to be a bigger job than the one my sister and I did on our parents' van (1980 Ace Rallyman) back when there were no digital cameras, broadband, KZread etc, when we replaced part of the flooring and all the timber and ply around the door. (It was a lovely little van, still miss it!)

I have a similar problem not as bad , what i can't establish is where the water came from , could it be the rail above the front window ?

Hi Jamie and Stacey, I've been looking at this boat which has a wooden superstructure. The wood that I can feel feels like it would look like the ply you've revealed under the cladding.... wet and crumbling apart. What would you do to fix walls made from that kinda rotten ply? Thank you!

Hi guys, I'm currently in limbo with my project so it's nice to see your in a similar position to me on all this! I've also got damp on the front of my caravan and currently bodging it (unfortunately!). I'm currently working on it in the harsh outdoor conditions with no shelter space unfortunately so it's been quite tough to find ideal time slots to work on it all. I'm wondering whether you guys own the farm? Or whether you had to pay the farmer to work on the sheltered space you've been working on?

Was there 2bits of polystyrene insulation missing or was it stuck to back of the wallboard?

Generally find the highest point of the leak as water travels down and does a lot of damage on the way. Window/Awning rails 9/10 are the culprit and rot the frames out. The main thing I took away from your video is your totally unfazable attitude, it's very inspiring! My wife says if I had to do that job I would have sworn ever letter of the alphabet 😁 Great video many thanks 👍
