Toyota hybrids have long waits in Canada. As an example, at least 12 months for a RAV4 hybrid. 8 months for the Corolla Cross hybrid. Honda hybrids are in stock but the most expensive so Hyundai could be preferable.

Just wait for your insurance company to either increase your rates or decline coverage. One of the reasons I just traded in my 2022 Ioniq 5 EV for a 2024 Tucson hybrid instead. See my comment above. Until you drive an EV you have no idea how good they are. Until you own an EV, you have no idea how much you sacrifice to drive one on a long trip.

The only car purchasing advice I mention to people around me is to buy a vehicle that is worth a very small fraction of their overall net worth. Like less than 5% is a good amount and always pay in full/cash. People will not advance financially if they have "forever" car payments. No mental gymnastics involved and depreciation will not be an issue because it won't be felt. I know it sounds crazy but only very few people will understand this concept. At the end of the day, 99.9% of people do not care what car you drive.

On your leasing vs purchase with a loan, l simply tell customers that leasing is uniquely special for business write-offs, or if you're looking at a vehicle that has questionable reliability, or notorious for pricey repairs like: Audi, BMW, Land Rover, M-B, Jaguar, anything Italian, or Stellantis, Volvo... Yesterday, I just finalized my purchase of a 2024 Tucson Hybrid Ultimate ... excellent vehicle. The dealer also tried to sell me the wheel locks (oh, they are already installed); I told them to remove the wheel locks. They also did a pitch on the rust protection (the oil protection requires drilling and will affect the warranty coverage); I told the Manager "no thanks." And, of course, the extended warranty; again, I'm OK with the manufacturer's warranty. Expect all of this crap and more when negotiating a price. As for EVs, I've owned a 2020 Kona EV, a 2022 Ioniq 5 Ultimate and can literally say, the great charging speed of the Ioniq 5 doesn't matter if there aren't any 800V chargers along your route or they are down and out of service. Happened yesterday when I wanted to charge but the 800V (350 KW) chargers were out of service or the cable couldn't reach. Wait at least 5 years unless you want to be treated like a 2nd class citizen at a charging station (no weather protection, no windshield cleaners, no garbage cans, no washroom close nu and no convenience stores close. Why sacrifice because you own an EV? Hybrids are far better choices .... if you can get one.

Just say "no" to the add-ons. You can put on wheel locks yourself -- just buy the back-up key so you don't end up having to have the locks busted up to get them off by a mechanic, if you lose the key. In my experience, if you shop, you can get wheel locks for a TINY fraction of what the dealers want for the same quality locks.

You may have answered this in a previous video so feel free to just post the link. What auto SUV manufacturers would you say are reliable in the 5-7 year range? Almost all manufacturers can get their vehicles to 3 years but then on some of them, major trouble pops later. We currently have a 2011 Toyota Venza AWD V6 that we will trade. We do like CPO vehicles. Great content by the way. I appreciate your sane analysis without the sensational clickbait.

Hi Shari!!! Great video ❤ I agree wholeheartedly with everything you had said especially the rustproofing options…Krown is the best or any other oil based options, definitely not the dealership corruption option. One thing that I am having difficulty agreeing is when you had mentioned about rebuilding used battery packs for Hybrids. I don’t agree with this option unless you are selling the vehicle but if you are planning to keep the vehicles replace the entire battery not just the dead cells. At times, the cells may work fine but then after few weeks/months they may die anyway just like the ones that was replaced previously.

Trade-offs. Since the industrial revolution, things have changed faster. It's hard to live where you're not affected by change any more. Costs of progress. You can choose your lifestyle to at least minimize the impact though. But some things are still great to have, even doing that, like electronic banks, brokerages, shopping, tax prep, etc.

Only because of the 19” wheels ( which I will never buy again !!!). It was 1000 bucks for 5 years. It covers everything. My wife has hit all 4 wheels…two times at 250 a wheel….do the math. I must say this was a wise investment. Without the low profile 19” I would not buy the warranty. Honda wheel and tire protection for 19” is a must! But once again…..skip the 19” on the accord. I bought the CRV sport touring hybrid last month and didn’t even consider the gas model as IMO it’s underpowered. I wanted a Toyota RAV4 or Lexus hybrid but with the 1-1.5yr wait ended up with the Honda hybrid (bought at MSRP as Toyota and Lexus dealers charging above MSRP). With gas prices going up again on Apr1st here in Cda due to carbon tax kicking in, prices will only continue to remain high, plus better reliability of hybrids including higher resale value as they’re in such high demand, best to get the hybrid! Hybrid sales are outpacing the growth of EVs! When it comes to hybrids, I only trust Toyota, Lexus and Honda - not the Korean brands!

I did a lot of research and went with the 2024 CRV Sport hybrid. Yes, the hybrid will cost a bit more upfront, but in typical driving that will even out in a few years. The benefits over time will be that the hybrid will give you a more refined engine with more horsepower/torque, with the added benefit of being way less polluting. Honda was also smart to give better features to the hybrids aside from just the engine. The hybrids also include black wheels and the Sport mode which is a fun mode to be in once in a while to really feel the extra acceleration. To me, all of that seemed worth a bit extra up front.

The issue could be by then, with govt mandates, all sales of new vehicles while not all EVs, may require some form of electrification like HEVs and PHEVs so, you’re only other option to buy a gas ICE would be 2nd hand.
