Car Camo Stealth Camping

I found a spot along the side of the highway that was perfect to pull the SUV in for a night of secret camping. I covered the car with hunter's camo cloth and it blended in wonderfully. It was a bit of a noisy campsite, but I got used to it. Camped out in the car I couldn't hear too much traffic.

I think there's a problem somewhere with the KZread processing. I have got some comments about audio not lining up, but on all the computers here the audio lines up and the original file I uploaded is ok for audio. It seems that not everyone is having the problem. My friend said he had that before and it cleared up but it was a bit of a mystery. I am working on this but hoping it resolves without having to take this down and re-upload it. Cheers everyone and sorry for the audio issues!

When I was growing up in the 70’s, our family vacations were usually camping. Before we left a campsite, our dad would have my siblings & me police the area. We picked up so many cigarette butts ( parents didn’t smoke) and pull tabs from beer cans. Dad always wanted to leave a campsite cleaner than we found it

Quick tip from someone who has spent a lot of time hiding vehicles with camonets in the military. 1. You need to break up the silhouette of the vehicle. 2. Hide all reflective surfaces of the vehicle. Those are the main things that give you away but there is a lot more to it.

Hi Steve. I just wanted to say how much peace you've brought to my life after many a rough day. Especially in a time in which content creators are incentivized to keep us angry and divided, it is such a breath of fresh air to turn on a channel like yours just to watch a kind dude keeping young at heart and sharing his love for the outdoors. Some nights I just pull the plug on social media, chuck the phone aside, lay down on the coach, and doze off peacefully to one of your videos. Humans are pretty awesome, despite the very small portion of people profiting off of us thinking otherwise. I also wanted to share my condolences about your recent loss. Like so many of us I am sure, we have struggled with the idea of saying anything at all, because we know there are no words that can take your pain away. I don't know how to heal such wounds or advice to give in such situations, so I'll just say what I do know: we appreciate you, we love you, and we are here for you however we can be. - Brett (Plymouth, Michigan)

I have been watching this channel, Steve, for years. I have been in hopes of going back out into nature and camping more like I used to have as a kid. Only recently have I been able to get enough money to buy the proper gear in order to do so safely. This channel was the first to spark that joy back up and I have taken a 8 mile hike last week in the smokey mountains. I don't regret it and I am thankful that I had found Steve with his random camping videos. I tend to do more hiking in the future with my dog Willow.

Once upon a time - I traveled out to western Canada on a motorbike - and on several occasions I stopped and camped in just that sort of trail leading off road that Steve found.........................and there is something really satisfying about it................................something to do I guess with it being free and easy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those western forests just naturally allow a camper to push deeper into the woods with less trouble than one finds in Ontario or places to the east - since the trees naturally seem to space themselves out more and allow easier access for a bike so you can get further away from traffic noise! The nicest lunch I ever had was on Whidby Island off the Washington state coast - I was rolling along in a light rain getting progressively more cold and wet as wind driven rain and spray from MANY PASSING CARS splattered me...............................and I spotted just the sort of trail that Steve used - rolled in and went a fair distance in - bikes are good for that - squeezing in between the trees - and I actually lit a fire and warmed and dried myself while sheltering under the thick Pine branches - and then cooked up some lunch...........................BEST MEAL ALL SUMMER and in most comfortable conditions as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Life is stressful as all hell lately, obvious, right? But watching Steve's videos takes me back to being a kid with my friends and making hangouts in places we probably shouldn't have, which in turn made them into stealth camping spots. Of course, these later turned into firepit/drinking spots when we got older. We tried to be stealthy all the same. Love your videos Steve, they make me feel like a kid again.

Always put a couple of branches on the car before you throw on the camo net. Breaks the car shape, causes more shadows and makes the netting a lot more effective. Also helps against thermal imagers but I don't think that is an issue here. :D
