Capture One - Session Folder Breakdown, Backup Strategy & Packing as EIP

Фильм және анимация

In this fairly technical Capture One Pro tutorial, we will dive into the inner workings of the Session folders and breakdown how all of the parts work. This will give you a lot of insight into files to be sure you backup as well as those to avoid. We will also cover how Capture One stores your changes to images and how to be sure you don't lose those modifications when you are editing photos. One of the mistakes I made early on was backing up all of the cache folders and those thumbnails when I should have been avoiding that.

The EIP has other essential functions that make C1 far superior to Lightroom when working with both Catalogs and Sessions. This was already clearly broken down by Capture One on KZread though, so no need to go over it. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

Very helpful video! Thanks! I've got a problem now: I need to format my PC and then I just want to know how to restore the very same sessions (with all photos and modifications) which I've created so far and backed up in an external drive. Can you please tell me how to do? Thanks a lot! Antonio

Just open the session file and it should find the images. I keep my photos on another drive, so even if I format my PC, the images are all good.

Can I set cosessiondb designation to work with any Previous session file or only the current session?

You can open any session db from another. It's that what you mean?

Great video. Can you send eip to Lightroom? I need to send my edited raw to my main wedding photographer. He wants XML files but EIP seems to be a zip file version of the xml files. Can my raw edited C1 files open in his Lightroom?

The eip does indeed have an xml in it, but I don't believe the changes are in the format Lightroom expects. I don't see an easy way to get changes from C1 into the same images in Lightroom. The only data that will synchronize is the metadata like star rating and color.

@@sedetweiler Thanks Scott for quick reply. I only need to adjust exposure and crop. These are the only changes I need to do, but unfortunately I only use capture one and he only uses lightroom and photoshop.
