Canned Heat On The Road Again
Музыка
Commemorating Woodstock 50th anniversary, Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson sings lead and plays harmonica on his well-known composition On The Road Again (Enhanced). Soon after Canned Heat's participation in the historic 1969 Woodstock Festival, the blues-rock group performed live on Playboy After Dark. The Los Angeles, CA TV series was recorded 50 years ago on November 20, 1969 and broadcast in January 1970.
Canned Heat formed in Los Angeles in 1965. The other founding members are Bob “The Bear” Hite, Larry “The Mole” Taylor, Fito de La Parra and Henry Vestine.
Wikipedia: On September 3, 1970, Alan Wilson was found dead on a hillside behind bandmate Bob Hite's Topanga Canyon home; he was 27 years old. An autopsy identified his manner and cause of death as accidental acute barbiturate intoxication. Wilson reportedly had attempted suicide a few months earlier, attempting to drive his car off a freeway in Los Angeles. He was briefly hospitalized for significant depression, and was released after a few weeks. Although his death is sometimes reported as a suicide, this is not clearly established and he left no note. Wilson's death came just two weeks before the death of Jimi Hendrix and four weeks before the death of Janis Joplin, two artists who also died at the same age. Along with his talent and intellect, Wilson had a reputation for social awkwardness and introversion which may have been a symptom of his depression.
Canned Heat will participate in Woodstock 50. Organizers revealed the Watkins Glen, New York festival’s full lineup. Dead and Company, John Fogerty, Santana, John Sebastian, Country Joe Mcdonald, Canned Heat and Hot Tuna - all acts that took part in the 1969 festival - are all on the lineup for the festival, which takes place August 16 through 18, 2019, the 50th anniversary of the original Woodstock.

@@chadpittman3025 about the throat singing. Well - i wouldn't have known it was called this when i was young,, but i was exposed to about 4 different types of throat singing. my father's mom was from Finland, and they have the kenning that they'd do on the farm. on my mother's side the Cree that have their throat singing - again the women. But i grew up friends with a young man from arkinsaw and he loved Canned Heat -and he could do all sorts of stuff with his voice. he was the lead singers in my fathers band. I realize now he was doing hill singing. My friend in BC does over tone throat singing-interesting but a bit scary all most. I can do very low resonant throat singing - nothing high.

One of my life's theam songs. I had just came back from Vietnam to Kansas City in 1968 for a year of sex, drugs and rock and roll. On the road again taking Route 66 to California and boarding a plane to Bangkok with a backpack to travel the country passing through Laos and Cambodia before returning home to Shreveport and on to LSU. Never stopped, asked myself many times, where would be next year. Now 77 and living in Thailand and planning to see Vietnam again where the journey started. This song brought it all back, listening to it again

I was lucky enough to see Canned Heat & Dr John at Central Pk summer 72. For the 2009-40th Woodstock anniversary I saw them with Fito on drums, Larry on bass and Harvey The Snake on guitar. Although Harvey wasn't an orig member he was a member when they played at 1969 Woodstock. Larry passed away 2 yrs ago and Harvey has medical issues preventing him from touring. Fito started with the band in 1967 and has been on every tour & album since. Keep on rockin Fito.

I always loved this song an just to see the band sing this song live, makes it that much more special.ive read the death of Al Wilson hit the band hard,an I can understand that now, what talented musician he was,he never really got a chance to show his full potential as a musician,it saddens me to this day just to think about the way he had actually died but the music will always live on r.i.p blind owl r.i.p Bob"the bear"hite,my mom just loved canned heat especially "let's work together" that's how I first got into them as a kid growing up!!!!
Awesome melody, lyrics, tempo, singing and harmonica. Singer is mesmerizing w his voice in alto to base notes, making the harmonica sing.

Blind owl! Alan Wilson. So talented with a degree in music of Boston Berklee College music University...a genius even that he was so strong influenced by Skip James. There is this song that was released in 69, with Woodstock and lead guitar change And smash hit Going up the country this song was eclipsed. Poor moon - shows the lyric writing concerns about blind owl, blues, Country blues from de Delta Mississippi and Ecology, Not sex and money. I really be alive this is a great song, a great Alan song. Canned is just like on the road again, Alan, drums and bass. No Vestine or Mándela, neither Bob. Just Alan and rhythm guitar. It is a moon trip listening to this marvelous song.
