Bivol is the most stylistically challenging fight out of everyone from 160-175. And Canelo chose to fight him instead of two relatively easy tune up fights in Benavidez and Charlo. Canelo is just a different breed.

Bivol has like 286 amateur fights and 6 loses. I think 11 kos in his pro career. He’s fast and has some nice footwork and great ring IQ. Bivols jab is his best weapon. Canelo doesn’t do well against boxers with good jabs cause he actually gets touched. It’s going to be a great fight

What did you think of the fight? I knew bivol would this fight but didn't expect him to dominate canelo so easily. It wasn't his size that won him the fight it was his skill iq and durabilty.

@@daebak7370 It was good fight, I think Canelo went in with the wrong game plan but even with the right game plan I’m not sure he beats Bivol. I scored the fight 8-4 personally for Bivol, so to me the fight looked competitive with a clear victor. Imo the biggest problems for Canelo in order were this. First it was Bivols speed both foot and hand speed. He seemed able to catch and shoot in between Canelos big shots and breaks Canelo took to reset. Next was his Size, his punches looked like they had a lot of Thud on them and Canelo didn’t react very well to Bivols 3-5 punch combinations. I think his Size gave him a good advantage in absorbing Canelos biggest shots and allowed him to move a little more freely at that weight. Lastly Bivols Iq and Canelos Stamina played a big factor. Bivol wouldn’t fall into Canelos traps on the ropes and consistently made Canelo come forward when he needed to catch Bivol, just too smart to get caught clean. All that cumulatively gassed Canelo hard, this is something we haven’t seen in years. Canelo was known to gas early in his career but lately has set the pace of his fights and that became a non factor. This fight showed that Canelo still can gas hard if you fight him at a pace he isn’t used to

Never saw Canelo so friendly. Could be a fight.

Even as an MMA fan (almost never watch boxing unless if its big fights like Canelo or Fury), you just gotta appreciate how much of a legend Canelo is. The guy is 31, in his physical prime, only lost once, and has 60 fights. He has the experience of a veteran while being in his prime. When he retires, he will go down in history as one of the greats.

In all honesty, I’m trying to find reasons of how Canelo will win and I just can’t. Usually, Canelo defeats a fighter and then you don’t hear from that opponent again. Bivol is just as old as Canelo with less fights and more proven at 175 than Canelo. If I were a betting man that really wants to win big, I’d bet on Bivol.

Regardless of what happens, Canelo deserves mad respect for challenging himself against a very tough LHW - fighting in a division where he's definitely not gonna be at his optimal ability. Someone of his stature should be fighting at Light MW/Super WW at a push.

My honest assessment. Bivol looks in incredible shape. Canelo looks like a tank, but too much weight imo. He should stay at 168. I got Bivol for the upset.

He's taller but Canelo is wider and thicker. Bivol doesn't cut much either so there shouldn't be much difference on fight night. 10 pounds or less
