And I dont want to hear about Canelo's diet. He came into the fight underestimating Bivol... In interviews before the fight he was already talking about other opponents. Canelo is an all time great fighter, but he came into this fight vs Bivol underprepared and got thumped. Hope he bounces back from this, im sure he will.

People not giving bivol his credit. Bivol has great hand speed. Moves his feet good for a guy his size. He's always under control. His defense was solid. Yeah moving up weight has a big factor in a fighter, specially by doing so and not taking a tune up fight to get climates to the new weight, Canelo by the 6th round was gassed out, while Bivol who’s been a career 175 pounder has had all the time to have enough gas in the tank to carry him strong all 12 rounds. But Canelo bit off more than he could chew, meanwhile a bunch of hater channels here on KZread was already calling Bivol the next cherry pick, yet I don’t see any of their favorite fighters in any rush to go to 175 and challenge Bivol there now.

And the difference in natural size and power was obvious. He had to expend minimal effort to cause the same effect of punishment in his punches compared to what Canelo was forced to do. I cut so much weight id swear id see floor tiles moving around and shifting on me like I was hallucinating. The couple times I went up a weight and wrestled 135 lbs instead I was free and happy and went 6-1 that year that an upper weight. Going up might make you feel more healthy- but you have to wrestle all the desperate guys coming down from 140+ to get it. I look back on it now as a 31 year old and still can't believe I wrestled like that regularly- wrestling a 16 lbs spread.

My only issue with people is the excuses for Canelo post fight. His game plan weight diet juice ECT didn't diminish his boxing abilities that are second nature for him at this juncture of his long & illustrious career. The better boxer won from round one through twelve. He tried from the outside to the center of the ring to land scoring blows & counter punches all night. He was outboxed in every facet of the game imaginable. Footwork combinations accuracy jabbing distance management level changes feinting movement ring IQ speed changes counter punching TIMING even the exchanges while inside fighting Canelo was clearly frustrated all night. Defensively he was outclassed as well Bivol's guard is beautiful and his consistency is impeccable I'm shocked that most people thought Canelo would actually stop him no one gave him a chance. Canelo is an incredible boxer but let's be honest I've not seen Canelo get outclassed that badly since Erislandy Lara was robbed. Weight is not in any way a valid excuse especially given the fact that Bivol can easily make 168 & is currently trying to go down to take his belts. He's a small man for his weight class. Canelo was simply outsmarted & outboxed. I couldn't even give him two rounds (rewatched the fight twice now) which is astonishing. The judges were looking to rob Bivol from the outset perusal but they couldn't. If they rematch you'll see the same thing except I assume Canelo will approach the fight with more offensive aggression & get eventually get stopped at any weight they decide to fight at.

Canelo's loss had nothing to do with diet and everything to do with style, gameplan, and the limitations of his own body. It's been covered up a bit by how average his competition has been at 168, but Canelo's gas tank and footwork have been really weighed down by fighting at higher weight classes. He just can't keep his style up for 12 straight rounds, and when you are fighting a guy like Bivol, someone who actually has decent power and a well rounded skillset, Canelo just doesn't have the ability to deal with them like he would at 160. He gasses too hard and since his power is less based on natural ability and more based on his skills, timing and leverage, he really has to bank on lining up a perfect punch or catching someone on a counter. That's much easier to do with guys like BJS and Plant, who don't have near the offensive skillset that Bivol does

@@daebak7370 Canelo’s error was in thinking he could bully Bivol at 175 like he did everyone at 168, which was extremely foolish and arrogant really. Loaded up on most of his punches and gassed out looking for the KO instead of actually boxing to win rounds and it played right into Bivol’s gameplan. The extra weight/size was a key factor. Canelo was too confident in his power and patient thinking eventually Bivol would fold like everyone at 168 did, but nope. Meanwhile Bivol was scoring points and capitalizing on the smaller gassed fighter-which he admitted himself post-fight he was surprised that Canelo just threw power shots and got tired. As for Bivol not feeling/respecting Canelo’s power, I disagree. He was on the back foot in double high guard for most of the fight when Canelo pressed him despite being the bigger man. He also fought the most conservative and cautious fight he’s ever fought, which isn’t just because. Obviously he was weary the entire fight of Canelo’s power and capability of possibly changing the fight with a single shot. It was actually Canelo who had his gloves down a lot when Bivol pressed him, due in large part to fatigue, but you don’t lower your guard if you know your opponents as the power to KO you or shake you

Honestly, Canelo was arguably stronger in the ring. Teddy Atlas said this too. It was Bivols technique and his range. Canelo was outboxed a lot recently, especially on unofficial cards. He'd just keep walking you down, losing rounds, until he broke you down and got a KO in. That's not going to work against a light heavyweight. Canelo's strength and PEDs have prevented him from really getting his boxing skills down to GOAT levels.

"Kovalev lost a bunch of times" Three times. And avenged one of those losses. "He was winning." Probably ahead on score cards from jabbing Canelo's guard infinity times while canelo was landing big shots. Classic output vs damage. Bivol seemed to have the better game plan and was the better man that night, got some good work in there. They seemed pretty close in size, I don't really buy the too small for the weight class narrative. Very good fight, glad I could watch that rather than Rose vs Carla 2.

I seen him at the event where they had anderson silva and julio ceasar chavez Sr. Canelo is not dedicated enought to train and stay one weight he walks around at about 200lbs. How you think hes able to fight a cruiserweight? Thats why he can reach 154 for a fight then cheat and rehydrate all the way to 175 lbs to fight 154 lbs mayweather. There a reason boxing doesnt show there night of fight weight anymore lol Do you not see this man neck. Im 160 myself hes alot bigger than i am. @@CasualGamer121 The reason its hard to tell is because canelo is short. canelo out weighed almost everybody he's fought. He get to the weight then rehydrates 15 to 20lbs over. I dont jus say shty to say shyt when i seen him personally he was 200lbs. He didn't have a fight but people are delusional. THEY Actually think he walks around at 175 when he has to train to lose alot of weight and then rehydrate. Regardless of what you believe the fact still remains that it seems like its ok for him to fight 154lb mayweather and come in at 175lb and still fight for a 154 belt. But then im hearing clowns cry and say bivol who walks around at 175 - 180 is to big for canelo who literally walks around weighing more than bivol . When again did canelo fight mayweather? Point being Canelo was 175lbs years ago and he usually fight either at 175lbs or more lol The commentators even stated bivol looked small and canelo looked big at the beginning of the fight lol Canelo jus looks shorter.
