Generation X created a lot of sad songs. We were the throwaway children from broken marriages and selfish parents (not all obviously). We were handed a country in decline and told we were slackers. My mother married 5 times and I was dropped off to live with grandparents. I stayed married and raised children who are doing well. I'm battling stage IV cancer for 5 years and still going. Life never gets any easier, but we were trained well.

Born in 1982. Pretty sure I had the greatest childhood ever. The best music, cartoons, tv shows, video games. Graduated in 2000 to bring in a new millennium and here we are 24 years later and the world is confused about everything. Wish I could relive those years. Life was so much easier and better then.

Don't sweat it bro. I consider those days to be days of blissful ignorance. We now have all the information now and everything that was, at our fingertips via the internet. There's nothing we can hide from now, so of course there's a lot of impropriety and injustice that we have to come to terms with, but with great power comes great weight! But chin up bro, society is improving by leaps and bounds even if it doesn't seem like it at times, the best is yet to come. Still this song will always be a banger though!

This like many other songs that came from the Pacific Northwest is about Andrew Wood ( lead singer of Mother Love Bone, who found Eddie Vedder after his death and became Pearl Jam. Andy was also Chris Cornell's roommate.) So Andy's death impacted the local Seattle music scene. Immensely."Would by Alice in Chains is also about him. The entire Temple of the Dog project was a tribute to him from his roommate Chris and Andy's band to Andy.)

Don't be too hard on yourself, there is not a lot of good information about the disease of addiction that goes too far below the surface. The first thing that most people don't get is that again this is a DISEASE and that the behavior of the addict is not the result of some character flaw or lack or morality. Addicts can certainly hurt others, especially their loved ones with erratic and what looks like very selfish behavior. What needs to be understood is that they are not having a good time or enjoying themselves and often feel desperate and broken. Add being judged and shunned to the list and that's what they are dealing with. Maybe someday they can come up with something to alter the addiction gene. I had a coworker whose brother was a heroin addict but found some real help with something called Naltrexone. We need the medical community to create the Naltrexones for other drugs.

There was some cool stuff then, and some shitty stuff. Growing up in the 80s, I'd constantly hear people talk about how the 60s were so much better, so take it with a grain of salt... every generation does this.

I met the singer from this band back in the 90s when I had some bad sh** going on. I will never forget it. There was a room of press people waiting for the band, he blew them off, took me aside and talked to me. Even when they asked him to come in, he waved them away. No bull, no groupie crap just talk. Thank god, for decent people and for music. Thank god for music.

This was my best friends favorite song way back in the day. He was two years older than me and more like a brother than friend. We both married(best men in each others weddings), moved away, had kids and lost touch. I moved back to my hometown a decade later and so did he. We never got the chance to make new memories or even relive the old ones because he was taken by ALS. I miss him but I really feel for his kids because they never got to know how awesome he was. I guess if you are reading this, I want you to cherish those you love and let them know. You don't always get another chance.

Came back to this song at a weird time in my life. Collapsed on the couch, waiting for my wife to get off work at 11:13pm. Worked outside to exhaustion, paid the babysitter and hung out with the two of my four kids who were still awake. Thinking about how life is a series of slow motion takes from a sped-up version of my memories. The parts of my life that hurt like hell, the soul deep joys, the times I knew if I didn't change myself and mean it this time, I was going to lose everything I ever knew. It's all been worth it. Everything I've chosen has led me up to this song. I pray everyone finds this song and knows they matter and they are loved.

I'm so glad I can say I am 9 years sober as of February 15th 2021. No more tears. No more suffering. Loving life to the fullest and being thankful a song could touch me the way this one does. Hey I'm an oldie but a goodie, I quit 30 years ago and have never missed it one time. What is now my ex burnt me out on it, he had hep C and the more drs told him to quit drinking the more he drank till he finally drank enough. I had quit drinking one day, kicked him out the next day then quit smoking the next day, I was cleaning house! I've never missed any of them. I was lucky, because I hated it so bad I just got up one day and said no more, same with the smoking and was able to do it. It's a whole new life isn't it? And it is awesome! I wish everyone going thru the misery of it could do the same as we did. I'm very happy for you.

I think back about the 90’s and wish I’d appreciated them more. But I guess that’s just how it goes. This song is a great example of why. I was so angsty and used to blare this song. This song was played at my big brother's funeral. He passed at 9 after a car accident 2 years prior. It's always been a part of my life since my mother loved the band so much when I was small. I'm a lot older now and have watched my younger brother struggle with addiction for over 10 years. As an adult knowing someone you love is struggling like that, it takes on an entirely new meaning compared to what it meant when I was a kid. My best friend just bought us tickets to see you guys with 3 Doors Down and I'm most excited for Candlebox. I'm sure I'll lose it hearing this song live since it's always meant so much to me.

Now I have no energy or drive or anything without doing speed and I was a fentanyl and heroine addict and I haven't used those since March 28 of 2023 but ruined my life with meth! I lost my brother at 17, followed by 3 best friends and a second father before I turned 25. My fiance passed when I was 33. I had a terrible bone infection at 35 and colon cancer when I was 38. I've been left far behind many times. This is a good song, but y'all need to stop putting your energy into people you'll never know and start holding on to the ones you have. Get some self confidence and beat the odds. Stay strong for your family and help whoever you can. Just do the right thing daily and sleep well at night. God bless and good luck...it's gonna take all of us to make it.

I grew up in the 70’s and early 80’s. I’m still really into some of the music from the 90’s and I find myself missing the 90’s , early 2000’s , anytime a great tune came out. This is a great tune. Now it seems that our youth only have trash to listen to except a handful. My son introduced me to alot of great tunes that I probably wouldn’t know about if not for him. l am 47 years old now. I am a father of 2 a stepdad of 6. I am a Pastor now. But as I sit here listening to this while at work. It took me straight back to those days of pain and misery. But also back to the friendships and relationships I had. That I miss...I was a homeless meth dealer that had a good heart in a dark world. I loved a lot and lost a lot. But I would not change any of it. God has taken all that pain and loss and turn it into something awesome. I now can love, help and understand those who are living in that same dark conciousness

My sister passed away in 2020 from a fentanyl overdose. I tried for years to understand why she did the things she did because she was such an amazing person when she wasn't on the drugs. I miss her everyday. I didn't mean to treat her bad. But she left me far behind. R.I.P. Maggie 🖤

One of the greatest songs that came out of the 90s. I was very fortunate to be a teenager in the early 90s. Growing up listening to Metallica Pearl Jam Candlebox STP Nirvana it was truly a wonderful time in music history. call me old-fashioned and stuck in my ways I Still Rock this song. Gone are the days where we actually had musicians that played instruments and they did not use autotune.

I was class of '92. I was listening to hair metal bands like Metallica, Cinderalla, Guns N Roses, Skid Row, etc, as well as grudge such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, etc, and even rap music was really good with Tupac, Dr Dre, Snoop, etc. I miss those days.

I was around the Seattle music scene when this came out, one of my favorite Bands of the era. Those days are long past with all the crime. I was fortunate enough to been able to hang with them and a multitude of other Great grunge bands
