Born in '65, grew up in the '80's and THANK GOD the 90's gave me the music to absorb my pain.... STP, PEARL JAM, AUDIOSLAVE, TEMPLE OF THE DOG, MOTHER LOVE BONE, CANDLEBOX SUCH A GREAT AMOUNT OF MUSIC IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME WE WERE ALL SO BLESSED TO BE ON THE PLANET AT THIS TIME!!!!

I hear you Rupert. I was born a few years before you so was first introduced to music in the late 60's. First concert was the Yardbirds and then followed that with Jimi Hendrix and then Led Zeppelin ... and I was reborn as a hard rock child! Then the 80s happened and I literally stopped listening to radio for a decade. Then one day I turned the radio on again and heard "Even Flow" by Pearl Jam and I weeped with joy to discover ;music I could connect with was reborn! PS I would add Tool to your list ... they are ranked in my play list right next to Led Zepplin :)

This reminds me of when I got to Germany in 94. My husband was in the air force. I was pregnant in a small German town. No tv, radio, telephone. I had this cd and it helped to get me through those days.
The older I get the more this speaks to my soul. Here’s to the things we’ve all loved lost and felt sorrow for along the way. A little shelter from the storm. Stay free my friends.

Listening jamming in 2024. Damn this makes me think about so much. I’m extremely grateful that I was born in a time when there was amazing music. The 90’s is in my soul
I was 13 years old, in my room, alone, listening to this song on repeat when the EMTs came in and took me to my first psych ward. Mom had my committed for a failed "suicide" attempt. This song, even now, 20+ years later, still speaks to that angry little girl inside of me. Definitely most underrated band of the 90s.

I have not heard this since high school. Crack and booze took me on a 15 year trip. Heroin and pills were part of the love affair. Shooting up cocaine was my lowest and the craziest high ever. This song seems so relevant nowadays maybe even more so than in the 90's...and now grunge is basically dead with the deaths of Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, Mike Star, Scott Weiland and now Chris Cornell this year. Such an amazing time in music and in overall culture I think as well...the first and last era which had both the old style of hanging out, sneaking out a bedroom window at night, swing jumping and other things combined with the advancement of technology through the internet and so on. It feels like there is little to no cohesion between generations anymore, that whatever bridges were attempted by either side have been all but burnt to the ground. Maybe I'm just old and bitter though...

Every song has meaning and like you said even more so now after life happened and still does for many of us...and this band and this era of musicians are the last of the real we know and learned as children into adults. There is a huge gap in between the 90's and the new millennium. Scary to say the least.

Ahhh the middle school days. Always come back and listen to Candlebox, silverchair, and Pearl Jam. Wasn’t a worry in the world those times. We were innocent kids in a somewhat normal world without cell phones and social media.
Kevin is one of the last musicians out their that speaks his mind, and is not going to let his manager, or the wannabee labels tell him what to do or sing. He sing, and plays his music for his fans, and that is what I love about Kevin and his band.
This song is a masterpiece!!
