As a Dodgers fan, I'm completely happy with this outcome. I got to see the Sneks take out, potentially, the hottest post-season team in MLB, which made me feel MUCH better about getting bitten by them and taken out (although, it still hurts). The Sneks aren't messing around! Now we have the Rangers who took out the TRASH, so that automatically makes me a fan of that team. Add in the fact that Corey Seagar is on that team now, I would be more than happy to see him get another World Series ring. Having said that, however, if the Sneks strike again, they more than deserve it. This could be their year!

I'm a Phoenix native and I've been a Diamondbacks fan since '98. Back in May, I told everyone that if they kept up the way they played in the first 20 games of the season, they could pull this off. My wife, who's a Braves fan, just laughed at me. It seemed like only us hometown fans had faith in the D-backs. It's incredible to think that Corbin Carroll's mom and dad dropped him off at Chase Field on opening day this year for his first game, just as if it were his first day of school.

Sorry man, you never stood a chance! My mom was a long time DBacks fan even though she wanted to sack the manager every other day. After she passed, in June I didn’t want to watch much baseball. Then I saw on the internet they had won game 5 and so back to watching. With my phone sitting beside me I watched game 6 and began to wonder what my Mom was doing up there! By last night I was a believer. I sat there and screamed with ever out 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. It was over and the DBacks had another pennant flag! The tears in my eyes were for my self, for the journeymen and for my Mom!!!!!! RIP CAY……….

The problem with the Phillies is they are a one trick pony. They live and die by the homers. They don't have any of the other fundamentals down and that is why they lost. They are also very cocky which also lead the their downfall. They thought once they handled the Braves they would walk all over the D-backs and they paid for it. Always be humble and expect the other team to be better than you. They had a good year but their reliance on the homer cost them.

Putting my Rangers fandom aside, this is why baseball is such a wonderful game. You follow every pitch, you don't know what's gonna happen from one to the next. Home field advantage doesn't necessarily mean diddly-poo in the postseason -- likewise with overall records during the regular season. The storylines will be abundant in this World Series -- being that two years ago, the Rangers and Diamondbacks lost 102 and 110 games respectively. In 2022, both teams finished 4th in their respective divisions with losing records. Now they're both on the biggest stage of them all after knocking out their biggest demons -- Arizona beating the Dodgers, Rangers beating the Astros. Unreal.

Its all perspective. As a Dbacks fan I was looking at is as conquering our last two post season loses to the Brewers and dodgers. Then if we wanna be NL champs we gotta beat last year's champions. I didn't even realize this but someone in a comment section pointed out the schedule for this year's series is on the same days as the 2001 world series. These playoffs feel like they were written specifically to push the Diamondbacks as if it were a wrestling storyline. It's literally too perfect. And I think anyone who's not a Dbacks fan just didn't realize Arizona was so legit because we're so young. We could probably have come into the postseason with 92+ wins at a minimum if not won the west if we didn't have that losing stretch after being in 1st most of the summer. If anyone was "choking" it was the Dbacks in games 1 and 2 at Philly. Watch it back, everyone just looks out of place. Corbin wouldn't run and Lovullo sat in that chair and kinda just peaked over the dugout floor. We were not playing or managing up to what our standard had been this year. Lovullo made changes when we came to Arizona for game 3 and the team stepped back up. Dodgers and Phillies fans are definitely disappointing the way they're so mad right now and don't want to give the Dbacks their credit. But hey, salty tears taste just as good as a handshake and sportsmanship. LETS GO DBACKS

Also, the Texas Rangers feel perfect as a rivalry point for us Arizonans when reminding people that an Arizona Vs. Texas sports rivalry existed. Plenty of emotion involved with basketball and the AAF almost continued with the Hotshots and San Antonio before that league fucked themselves. Might as well continue the trend with the MLB for the World Series this year. New York may have been Goliath to our David in 2001 with the Yankees, but the state of Texas in general joins the city of L.A. as our state's biggest rivals, no questions asked.

Stubbs gloating about being ready to jump in the Dback's swimming pool after they won was the turning point. That over-confidence, lack of respect, and doubting of your enemy. It made Arizona angry and they made Stubbs & company pay. It also doesn't help that the Phillies swing at EVERY ball outside the strike zone, and the Dbacks lured them into doing that. I knew this series was done by game 4.

  • @SarahDigsHockey
    @SarahDigsHockey9 ай бұрын

    1. The Diamondbacks were not going to let Bryce beat them, even if it meant walking him with runners already on base. You saw that in the last couple of games. Other guys needed to fill that sudden void in the lineup and failed. 2, You can't rely on a Kyle Schwarber (Max Muncy replica) to save your team with a key hit (or HR) when the guy is batting below .200 for the season. It's a matter of time before that his bad habits (lots of strikeouts) come back to kill him. 3. Kimbrel continues to be a good closer but he hasn't been a lights-out closer for a few seasons now. No one should have been suprised by that meltdown inning. 4. As for Castellanos, I'm just glad they finally quit showing his kid on the TV. It's a series the Phillies should have won but not because they expected to. They still needed to go out and earn it.

I'm glad Arizona knocked off Philly but now I'm rooting for the Rangers. They are the only team who ever gave Ron Washington an opportunity to manage and they are also the oldest team in baseball who has never won a World Series. Those Rangers fans have been waiting a very long time to finally get to enjoy even one championship.

Because they were a mediocre team in the regular season. They finished sixteen games behind the Dodgers, and 20 games behind the Braves. They had the worst record of all playoff teams in both leagues (tied with the Marlins). Over the course of the season, they were nowhere close to being a top team. Good for them to slip in and step up in the playoffs, but the idea of "looking down" on the 84-win D-backs is completely understandable.

Great analysis of the series btw and good to hear it from the Phillies perspective. I would say that although Dbacks were always behind in the series I always felt like the mentality was to take it one game at a time and as long as we were still in it we might as well keep playing our hearts out. At 2-0 down people said we had no chance, at 3-2 down people said we had no chance, but Baseball games can turn in your favor real quick and I always felt like we still had a chance all the way til the end. No one expected us to get this far so really there was no pressure on the team to perform.

After the second game, the Phillies imagined that they were invincible. INVINCIBLE! Which is why they choked and lost. The Diamondbacks played gritty fundamental baseball and won, while the lazy, fat, and stupidly cocky Phillies rolled over and died. I watched in disbelief as the Phils swung at balls way out of the strike zone and struck out, while the D-backs never did that. To that end I blame Rob Thompson for not berating his hitters, telling them to play some small ball, make contact and get the runners over. But no, he didn't do that as they continued to swing for the fences, never coming close. And his worst single sin was letting Johan Rojas hit with the bases loaded in the late innings of game 7. At that point Rojas was hitting about .094 and wound up striking out, missing on strike three with a ball nearly 2 feet away from his bat. Sheesh!!! Future baseball teams should look at this series and learn how not to play an important series.

As a Phillies fan, the moment that Merrill Kelly walked Bryce Harper to get to Alec Bohm and he couldn’t produce was the moment that I knew the Phillies wouldn’t be able to win. Arizona’s pitching exposed the offense, when the Phillies aren’t hitting home runs they aren’t able to put the ball in play. They are 7 for over 40 with RISP in this series which has been a problem for them all season. It doesn’t help that stars didn’t show up for Game 7. Changes are going to have to be made regarding the offensive philosophy. It sucks, it’s a brutal way to end the season, but I think there’s still time to right the ship, it’s only one upsetting playoff loss with this core, I don’t think they are in Sixers territory yet. I hope Aaron Nola does re-sign though. If he leaves there is really no other option for a #2 starter other than ones you would get through a trade.

Look at the Phillies celebrating in games 1 & 2. Dodgers fans get the same sort of show every year. When LA wins the NL West, the team celebrates with Champagne like they've accomplished something. Celebrating before winning is the mental recipe for disaster.

Talk about the Braves all you want but at least they have a championship in this decade. The Phillies, Mets, Yankees, Angels and White Sox have all spent a bunch of money with nothing to show for it in this decade and the Dodgers only have a fake championship to show for their spending.

I had this thought in the back of my head that the inconsistent hitting would be a problem for the Phillies and sure enough I had the same reaction that you did till the very last out..Even if the World Series was cancelled from this point forward. I would still say that the '23 season was the most unexpected season of baseball I've watched. What a riot.

Thank you for bringing up Dancing on my own that song is cursed! Another example is the Bruins last year they had the best team in NHL history and after every win when they interviewed people outside the locker room that song would be heard blaring from inside their locker room. That team got elementary in round 1. No team should ever listen to that song, ever!

Dbacks fan here, I wasn't a fan of the trade at first either. We got a good to great rental and a young catcher when we still got Carson Kelly. Goes to show us fans really shouldn't be anywhere near a front office.

As a Cubs fan, I saw the D-backs take 6 of 7 pivotal games near the end of the season. They play fundamental baseball. Small ball, make contact, speed on bases, solid starting pitching, and good defense. I told everyone to look out for them in the playoffs. They have not disappointed. Just wish I had put money on them in Vegas. As a life long Cub fan all I can say is “suck it up buttercup”😁

That’s the difference. The Phillies play like they are in a home run derby. Dbacks play baseball. Thanks for noticing too. I’ve been telling people this. And when the game got tight, Phillies had no other strategy, they live n die in the long ball, they looked desperate at the end and had no answer with the great bullpen pitching that shut them down!

I don’t think the teams should be cancelled but i think that it’s just the beauty and unpredictability of baseball it’s not like any sports just having a full team of stars doesn’t win a World Series you still need a great pitching staff a great bullpen and you need to be able to hit in all moments

Remember the Phillie reliever in Game 4 who didn't know how many outs there were and threw to first base on a comeback ground ball when he should've thrown to second for an easy double play to end the inning? The Diamondbacks later scored a run off his mistake in that inning, and eventually won the game by one run. To me, if you piss away an opportunity like that either by stupidity or unprofessionalism in an important game, it is definitely going to come back and bite you !
