Canal pollution in Phnom Penh
The canals and waterways in Phnom Penh are some of the most polluted in the region. They are clogged with waste, everything from foam food containers to plastic bags to sewage. Many environmental campaigners have been calling on the government to clean up these waterways as they are vital to the capital city, particularly in the monsoon season as the rainwater needs to flow out of town.
