April 2015 saw 2 CF-18s depart PIK. A few years earlier we had 6 and 2 of their Polaris Tankers, conditions were WET WET WET WET WET WET!

36 years ago I emigrated too the USA from the same airport,my hometown is Ayr ,see its still pishing doon ,cheers jim for the upload👍

Curious why the Canadians chose the Hornet. Do they have carriers?

You mean like requiring an airframe coming back onto short, austere landing platforms, requiring heavy-duty gear under mind-bogglingly brutal, 'zero' conditions? Yeah... In a way, they do ...It's called the Arctic.

Good for the arctic because it has 2 engines. Also an effective multi role jet. Our last carrier was mothballed in the 50s. HMCS Bonaventure.
