Can You Weld In The Winter? / Welding In Freezing Temperatures.

Ғылым және технология

Steel holds water at low temperatures. when the temperatures are below freezing, the water inside the steel freezes and makes welding very difficult. So when the steel is below 40F you should pre-heat the steel to at least 100F to expel all the moisture in the steel before welding.
If you have questions about this process or any other welding/fabrication process, let me know in the comments and I'll be happy to answer them.

No wonder why I weld terribly in cold weather, blotches, slag inclusion, overall shitty welds. Thanks for the info, you are very helpful

The temperatures in the video are in Fahrenheit. In Celsius the temperature of the steel should be brought to above 50°C.

@@FerrousPhoenixthis is a lie! No body heats metal upto 50oC before welding. People just weld.

Glad I could help, My helmet never fogs up enough to where it blocks my vision. You could try using an anti-fog wipe people use for there glasses.
