I really liked hearing how easy it can be and he freedom it provides. The real truck had me chuckling because I'm starting out with a HDT and a Momentum..‼️‼️ Why you ask....because with a little luck I will get to be a certified Teck, starting this fall....and I need a truck to carry all the tools etc and haul the rig full of toys....thank NRVTA for the inspiration 🙂🙂‼️

2000 w whole house inverter 515 watts of solar 696 amps of flooded cell battery I've been using this system for 15 years now. I'm parked in the desert in California I've been here without moving since the 25th of November. Ran the generator just a couple of times when it was too cloudy to get charged up.

What about an incinerator toielt and hydro panels

Have you ever thought of adding a small wind turbine that can be installed and removed easily to help?

What about a Micro-inverter based system? Each panel converts the DC to AC at the panel, and you can string many panels along without worrying about shading issues. The only thing I can think may be an issue would be charging batteries, and the loss involved in converting the AC back to DC for the charging system. We have a Micro based system on our house that is almost 10 years old…I have absolutely NO complaints about it.

So which do I buy first, the lithium battery of the solar panels? I'm thinking the battery because I can add the panels a little at a time if I get a big enough solar controller, I've already got the inverter/charger. Keep the good stuff coming Todd.

Can you do an off grid b plus

Do you lose solar efficiency with the air conditioner and the associated heat under the solar panels?

I thought you want to buy all the batteries at the same time. If you add batteries later won’t it only charge to max of the older batteries?

Will one 200 watt solar panel run a 200 ah renogy battery?

Where did Nathan have the system put together. I think I may have recognized where it was done.

So Nathan built his own system and he and his wife installed it. The solar panel upgrade was done by the NRVTA and Nathan and Heather together.

If anyone can explain how to enable the Multiplus to auto start the onboard Onan genny I sure would appreciate it. I haven’t been able to figure it out especially since the Onan is currently tied into my Lippert OneControl

This guy has a wonderful, enviable system...but .its not as hard to acheive a livable amount of power as you think...... you dont need as much as you think you do...give up a little and gain alot by being frugal and smart with consumption. .know your equipment intimatly ..., remember many times your running stuff you dont really need , ya just havent thought about it...

That is true. They are both Solar fanatics and it's pretty cool to see a large system. But it's not the only way and if you conserve power and understand your system then it's very easy to be comfortable off of a smaller off grid solar system.

I can imagine his system, including all the reinforcement of trailer was well over $50,000...

yes that is probly the limit.. and wash water on BLM. I used to truck waste out and same time get hotel faucet water in blue 5gal jugs.. and then buy the drink water... do a chore or so then back to the rig.. that was the cycle.. not so much genset fuel.. more it was the food n water fetches.. how about other BLM dispersed hanging addicts ?

So,.....you go SOLAR but have to upgrade the truck (size, fuel, trailer, steel) computers, dryer, washer, etc.....????? LOL! What have we become in our thinking?! Boondocking or moving your town with you???

HE Needs to get a Multi Zone MINI SPLIT and dump them 3 roof top AC Units... Mini splits us only @ 800 watts NOT @4000 watts.

Rooftop air conditioner doesn’t use 4000 watts. They are on a 20amp breaker…2400 watts at best. Mini splits come in all sizes. Minimum is 9k btu up to 18kbtu. Not just 1 size.

All of these goofballs that talk about being off-grid are ONLY having discussions about electricity. Totally off-grid means making your own fuel, using natural water sources. Boondocking is different.
