Thanks Todd!!! I appreciate the answer. I wish Coleman or one of the other RV AC companies would make one that brings in fresh air vice only recirculating. Like you mentioned all car AC's do it. I guess when boondocking at night running 12-volt fan and leaving your ac fan off makes more sense. I came up with the question because we were camping at the beach with full hookups, and it was nice and cool at night and the AC wasn't needed, however we had some noisy neighbors. We shut the windows and turned on the fan to cover up the noise, but it didn't take long to start warming up and we had to kick on the AC's. I had to ask Todd what exactly is our fan mode providing. I'm sure everyone is dying to know; our bedroom does have a return vent!
Another excellent video. Keep them coming.
We run our A/C around the clock, we just set the thermostat for the most comfortable temp and let it run al=fter all the electricity is included in the park fee.
So many methods so many no good some ok few are great. For myself I put a quart/litre of regular yogurt and powder up a bunch of digestive enzyme pills and add to the blackwater tank at the beginning of each camping trip and anytime its emptied. When done camping I make sure the tank is 3/4 full and drive away. Once nearer home or after a few hrs of driving I find a dump station and drain the tank then fill 3/4 full of water and drive again allowing the sloshing to rinse. Some dishsoap at this time seems to help with the rinse. The yogurt and enzymes over the 2wk camping trip seems to keep solids/paper dissolved and getting a good empty is easy.. for me this works awesome..
What if you have 2 100ah batteries in parallel?
Hey Todd, is it alright to leave my rv plugged into shore power when it’s not in use? Thanks for the tips!- Tim
What do you mean by “ok”? Do you mean _legal?_ For example, in some municipalities, having an RV plugged in means that it is classified as “additional” or “alternative” housing, and thus would need zoning approval and a permit, so leaving it plugged in without proper zoning approval could lead to fines. HOA rules can also come into play. If your question is simply asking about safety, then it doesn’t matter, when the RV is plugged in it is no less safe when unoccupied than when occupied.
I use my power vent fan on one end of my camper and open the bathroom vent on the other end. The power vent pulls air in, and it exhaust out the other. Really nice on cool days and evenings…..and a heck of a lot quieter 😂
Thanks Todd for what you are doing. You have been a great help with my RV journey. Perfect timing with this video. I was wondering about soft start and micro air. Thanks again. I’m excited for your next video.
❤ Tod, on mobile homes the return air vents are the doors cut off at the top or bottom about one inch. Sometimes both.
Todd, thanks for the great videos. You may want to remind viewers to check their subscription status. KZread unsubscribed me twice in the last six months from your channel. This seems to happen on a lot of channels. Just a heads up. Thanks.
Todd do any AC units 1:27 come with soft start from factory ? 2024 Dynaquest XL 34KD ACs are GE Auto manufacturing tried to void warranty if you used aftermarket parts instead of there’s like oil and filters etc it was ruled illegal by courts as long as aftermarket parts met specifications
👍
All the air conditioners bring the girls to the yard
I have been running the Softstart up on my RV all summer and loving it. Where I live in Canada most campgrounds are 30Amp only. it will run both AC units at the same time and I am not getting brownouts when they start up. I am a Power Engineer so I know just a little bit of electrical theory lol, you are bang on with the inrush slowly degrading the coils. With that being said I do have a 12v fridge as my trailer is a 2024 Cougar. The only time i had an issue was when there was a power outage at the campground and I tripped the breaker when the trailer was re energized and everything wanted to start at the same time. PS keep up the great work, I am seriously thinking about going done to take your course in house. its just finding time right now.
Good stuff
Hey, ? I have a 2024 Coachman Mirada 29FW our first class A . It has a 12 volt refrigerator ,how long can this run on the battery with solar power. Thank you Roy
Todd, I know what your instructions are on traveling with the propone on. My question is on hot days is it ok to run a onan 5500 propane generator and one ac? You opinion is appreciated.
Screw then all buy a very small window ac. Done
What if I have a 12 V fridge, is the pedestal soft start OK?
The soft start only affects AC power not DC power, your 12V system is completely independent from the AC system (yes, there may be a converter (aka rectifier) that charges the batteries for the 12V but the soft start doesn’t affect that). Yet another reason to use 12V compressor refrigerators instead of residential.
Todd really enjoy learning more about my rv. You are the guy with the answers. My question is I have a 2016 Jayco Jayflight 265 BHSW. We took it out this spring and the water pump would not pump water. We took it off the wall and unhooked the lines and blowed really hard and heard a pop and the valve unstuck and pumped like it should the rest of the trip. We took it out 2 months later and again would not pump so we primed with the winterized hose and it started working. Finally my question is “Is there something we could put through the water to lubricant the valves in the water pump” ? We are not full time campers. Setting on the edge of my chair waiting patiently for your words of wisdom. Thank you. You are the Man. 😀
Hey quick question here. My awning motor crapped out so I purchased a new aftermarket motor for $35 (a new OE Lippert motor cost about 10x this) So I installed the new motor and everything is working much better, however when at full extension when I take my finger off the awning extend button the barrel still continues to slowly roll out, almost as if gravity is rolling it out more. I would’ve thought the motor would have some kind of brake on it so this doesn’t happen. Any ideas on what’s going on here??
Can you run the furnace fan all the time?
Nice video....I have a wfco wf-8735p model charger working very well, I want to do an update for a 12v 250ah gel battery and I wanted to know if the charger (wfco wf-8735p) can charge it without any problem. ...could you guide me if I can do that update?...thanks
Great video the fuse blew on mine so easy fix thanks!
Todd I love all of the info that you put out. Could you do video covering covering roof care and maintenance? What to look for and how to clean, preserve and repair. Thank you
Great stuff guys
Why would you let your beard get that long?
Lol buy a truck not a dodge
Can I put two chargers on a sequence of three batteries?
Show how to do it, absolutely moronic
Please help me sir RV air conditioner technician job vacancy visa please help me sir how to apply sir
Good morning sir
What about time? Should I worry about hours, and time, or just hours.
Todd, can you please explain the +/- feature? If you’ve done a video just post the link. Thank you.
Our hot water smells like rotten eggs. So what is the issue with my Atwood G6A-8E? We put a zinc anode in our heater in another RV and solved the problem. We have a Northern Lite Truck Camper.
I learned a lot about my WFCO charger. I am changing my current lead acid to Lipo battery with solar. Going to contact company to verify no other modifications needed. Thanks for the video.
I got a brand spanking new RV 5 days ago....just did first dump. Black still shows 2/3 full. Will try your solution and report back.
So expensive
Womaniacs be driving recklessly…
HI GUYS
Can I take these lithium ion phosphate batteries in my camper in the fall when it goes down to 0 degrees? NO. So now I need two sets of batteries for when its freezing. Please tell all the facts. Can I charge Lithium ion batteries with my truck? NO. it will fry your alternator. Please tell all the facts.
So what you need is self heated batteries like Big Beard Batteries. They will heat the batteries when the internal temp hits around 34 degrees. FACTS provided.
@@NationalRVTrainingAcademy Thanks for clarifying. I am trying to filter out the noise I get from converting from lead acid to my next batteries for my camper. I tend to stick with what I know. Thanks again.
I got a 30 amp rv with two ac units that run about 1500 watts each in extreme heat so I can use both ac but not much room left for other things. It’s a 15000 btu ac.
The max 100watt question... it could be that the camper was using all but 100watts going to the battery.
Absolutely. Not enough info
Love your Tips, but one area about boondocking I haven't seen you cover is wind power. Is this a possibility a good supplement to jut solar and what equipment would be different?
Loving all the tips and videos. My wive and I are retiring end of year. New RV now and need to understand the mechanics of the various systems since service is really a thing of the past. You will see both of us soon as we signup for the course. Excited to meet everyone. 😊
I live outside Las Vegas and do a lot of summer camping in the hot south. I have a struggling absorption fridge with outside fans added, not in a slide. How can I test/tuneup my absorption style fridge to make sure its just the stupid high heat that makes it struggle and not another fixable issue? Thx
Love your videos! Just A "Heads Up"... I pick things apart. Too much sometimes... Anyway in your latest tech tip Tuesday, you said that electricity doesn't move unless there is a demand. In the broadcast sense that is correct however. It just needs to have a "potential " difference. Keep up the videos. They have taught me a lot and even adequate me rethink se things I've been doing the old way for so long
So this is true. A difference in potential and a path to move. The two connection points to an extension cord plugged into the active outlet have a difference in potential between the two, but if nothing else is plugged in and there is no path to a load, then there is no kinetic movement. Can continue to parse but this is 2minutes. ;)
Love your style of teaching getting the message across and making it fun. Thanks
Hi todd i check mine it looked good an the little black tray wasnt dirty either yet its raining in the rv an i dont know why
