To the people complaining about this video being a waste of their time, well it's not a waste of your time if you had to click on a video where someone is claiming to fix scratches on a car with fire!! Also it means you missed 0:10 0:43 and 1:24 You learned a valuable lesson in under 1:24 .. I am willing to bet you won't fall for any more scams regarding quick scratch removing schemes out there and actually waste some time and money in real life from now on. YOU'RE WELCOME :-)

We used to use this trick (without the flame thrower portion !) when I worked for the fire department. For annual station inspection all equipment needed to look as best as possible when the Chief looked it over. Using the WD-40 over scratched or faded paint brought it back nice and shiny..at least for as long as the chief was there ! You should keep this trick in mind when buying a car from either a private individual, or especially a dealer. What you see when you buy the car might not be what you see after the first wash or two, and of course there will be no proof the scratches were there when you bought it. Good video, nicely exposed trick to watch out for.

With very old nitro cellulose paints, heat can soften the surface and flow the paint, but a rotary buffer is what you need to do the repair. In all finishes used over the last 30 years the paint chemically reacts to form the surface and no amount if heat or buffing will do anything except damage to the panel.

That works the same way when people show them restoring their headlights with just wd40. It just puts an oily film on the headlight and makes it shine. After the first rain or car wash they are faded again. You would be better off washing the headlights and then spraying them with a good wheel clear coat because it is more tougher that regular clear coat spray. This is why the headlights turn foggy. They are coated at the factory with a clear coat finish then after a few years it gets washed driven in harsh weather the sun beating down on them erodes the finish then the light starts to get hazy. A good wet 1000 to 2000 grit sand paper will smooth the light surface then spray it with clear coat. Worked on my 2006 Chevy Silverado extended cab truck. That was a great hoax you did on that car door great video. Peace Bro.

Inox works well also on a very faded paint job...just spray every few weeks and all the fade just magically disappears....I mostly use it on old grey and black bumpers to keep them looking good.

WD-40 doesn't remove scratches, it simply hide theme trough an optical illusion. It blur the scratches, literally, but only until the lubricant stays on the paint. At the first wash the scratches reappear exactly the same.

If you have a large area to do, can you use a flame thrower? I have one of those, but I can't find a lighter that big

One other thing that was in this video that you should not do; use paper towel or shop towel towel to clean your care. Paper towels like bounty and other brands are actually abrasive to the clear coat and paint and you shouldn't use them. Shop towels are even more abrasive. Only use microfiber cloths to clean painted areas to preserve the paint and clear coat

You can also use WD-40 or oxygen and a lighter to attack Predators. It ticks them off pretty good, though.

i'm a detail er and the wd40 trick is used on new cars when they get scraped on the lot and many shonky used car detailers to hide scratches. Olive oil is also used, anything that gets you a wet look ti fill the scratches
