My brand new car got keyed. I just watched both videos on how to fix the scratches. ONE QUESTION. will the fixed area always need waxed. After getting a car wash or just over time, will that certain area look hazy and or not like the rest of the car and need to be waxed or polished all the time?

Thank you Chris!! I never write comments but I had to give my experience. Someone scratched my car a couple of months ago in a parking structure and didn't leave a note. It was about 2 feet long, had the other car's red paint on my black car as well as a dent. I got quoted from 3 different companies the highest being $1400 for the repair. Fast forward I just thought I would have to live with the scratch on my car but then I saw this video immediately bought the supplies (as well as a dent remover) and was able to remove the remnants of the scratch even the other car's paint which I was super surprised. It looks night and day different. I am so happy with the results and this cost me less than $30. I am so grateful thank you Chris!!

I'm convinced after all these ChrisFix videos I can rebuild a car with just "some soapy water."

What I most appreciate about this video aside from the great instructions, was the guy's crisp, to the point delivery. I hate sitting there watching a slowpoke take 15 minutes to explain what should take 5 minutes. This was 100% useful and no wasted time!

Chris, you saved my neck on this one! I accidentally scratched the wife's car while moving something in the garage. I was going to fess up, but I knew that she would hold that over me and be pissed at me, even though it was purely accidental. So I bought all the supplies on Amazon right away, yet, it was difficult to pull off, because she's been working from home exclusively for 2 years, so it's she's home 99% of the time, and when she's not home, she's in her car. I was waiting for the moment when she would be away from home, but not in her car, so I could work on it. Finally, about 2 weeks ago, her mom picked her up and they were out for about 2 to 3 hours. The clock was ticking. I was nervous that I was going to screw it up and make it much worse, then I would have been completely screwed. I was trying to finish before she showed up, so I didn't get caught in the act! I followed all the steps, and of course, after the sandpaper steps, it looked awful. Would it come out with the polish? Well, it did, and the wax took care of the rest. I was so pleased at how this worked, as previously, I could feel the scratch with my fingernail, and it didn't come out with polish alone....a few days later, I washed and waxed her entire vehicle, and the car looks great. There is one more fine scratch (not my fault) on the car, and I'm going to work on that next, that one is less severe than the one I caused. You're a life-saver Chris!

Great story that I can relate to. It's like fighting a battle in two fronts. First, you have to deal with the job at hand and your gut wrenching remorse at scratching the car and whether it not you'll be successful. Second, you have to deal with the wife and wait for that sweet moment when she's away and hoping you have enough time and that you will be successful. Good thing she didn't forget her umbrella and return 5 minutes into your project.

I used the 5000 and 3000 grit sandpaper from Autozone and Mcguire's scratch remover liquid to get the sand paper scratches out. I then used Turtlewax paste.

dont you get a little bit of fade in the clear coat of the cars body color though? Like the scratch might be gone but you would still feel something wrong with the color of the area you worked on or no it doesnt happen that way?

Hey we’re any of your scratches not straight because my scratch is a whole word and I don’t know which way to rub with the sandpaper. Also once I started I gave up immediately because of the fear of ruining my car 😅 is there any tips

This saved me! I had a huge scratch in my hood form a metal snow shovel (my mistake, I know) and I fixed it this morning with this method, it’s looking brand new!! Thanks so much Chris!!

7 years later and this video just saved my WRX I found your vid after going through an automatic car wash. There was a guy outside scrubbing the backs of cars as they went through cause this one never gets the back well. His brush scratched the crap out of my trunk. I would say any car wash that has rotating brushes because I took mine to a Sheetz and it put fine scratches

Even tho I spent hours fixing the scratches made against a fence, your tutorial literally saved me hundreds of bucks! Thank you so much for all the step by step explanation :) !!

Just wanted to thank you ChrisFix for repairing rust video. I have a 2007 VW Rabbit that rusted around the wheel wells. It took me about 1 month of rewatching your video fifty times but I was able to fix the rust all around my wheel wells and the rear hatch emblem. It was a lot of work but I learned so much. And my friends said it couldn't be done and that it will look bad in the summer because its bondo and guess what it is totally fine and you can't even tell. THANK YOU.

Following having received a deep scratch just like the one you created, for yourself, I gave your tips a try. I must admit to getting quite worried when I had the dull area but the shine did indeed reappear after compound and even though I know the scratch was there even I cannot see it anymore. Congratulations on a nice well- explained video.

@@uncouthyouth2433 you will have repaired the paintwork but thinned the clear coat. I wax occasionally just to keep a shine going over all the car. Obviously some waxes are harder and longer lasting than others. No right answer here.

The way you’ve planned out what you should say, when you should say it and how you should say it, so that the content is crisp clear and easy to follow - including asking the right questions which would be in beginners’ minds - is impressive. Good job - Great composition 👍🏻

I finally worked myself up to do this on my 2013 camaro and I can’t explain how blown away i’am by how well it worked!!

That scratch was deeper then any of the ones on my truck. Mine need alot of attention I previously thought I could not fix easily without a shop and it's resources until now. Growing up, my next door neighbor's name was Chris Fix ( it still is!) its for that reason that Chris Fix videos are my go-tos. Girls 👭 work on their cars too!!

i've watched a billion scratch repair videos and this is easily the best - and confidence building. Nice work!

Man, when seeing this video, I can't say I didn't have my doubts. But after buying the same products and doing it just how the instructor said to do it. I got the results I was seeking, 101% would recommend it! Thank you for the amazing lesson.

It’s 2022 now. I followed your steps. Instead of using Scratch X, I used the polish that you used in your deep scratch video. It works fantastic!!!! Your video is still helping us today!!! You should be proud of yourself!

I wanted to personally thank you for your videos. I came across these after I scratched my brand new car bad one night. I was devastated but then your vids gave me some hope I could fix things. I bought the things you suggested, took a few hours but it worked out incredibly. I have a few other scratches I need to watch your other video to fix, they are deeper. If I could add pics before and after I would to show you. But I’m a fan, and have subscribed. Thanks for the help.

Same here a dog scratched my new car and I was heated and wanted to yell at the owner, but it was an accident. Thankfully there is a solution.

Had a K-9 unit search my sister's car. Jumped up on the car all the way around the perimeter and left scratches all over the place. Nothing was done about it and there was no reason for the vehicle to be searched. The cop's excuse for it was that the dog smelled "hard drugs" and that they are only trained to smell out "hard drugs". All my sister had in the car was her medications for her heart problems and other medical issues. Still pretty sad that nothing was done about it.

I've seen them completely rip interiors apart, removing seats, cutting upholstery, ripping out carpet, and nothing was done for them either. Consider your sister lucky.

+Shadowborg I'm not complaining too much because after all it is a Ford Escape. Biggest money pit my dad has ever bought. We already had to fix the right rear wheel well because it was rotted out and the shock was falling off.

I’m a horrible driver and my car is basically one big scratch. It’s in the mechanic right now so I had to convince my sister to let me use her car. It was hard to do because she knows how bad I am at driving. After a lot of yelling and fighting,, she finally let me use it. I drove myself to work today and scratched it on a concrete pole🥲🥲🥲. I haven’t tried to fix it yet but I’m on my way to Bunnings now and I’m super hopeful!!!! You’ve saved my life

Thank you for this video, I went to a body shop today to get some minor scratches off my car and they estimated the repair to be at least $3K. I found your video and decided to grab everything you mentioned for about $60. Spent an hour and got my car cleaned up great!

Saw your video 2 days ago, did all the steps on the scratches in my car, now Im back to thank you! It really works!

One of the greatest KZread videos ever made! Incredible stuff when you consider there are body shops that will pay you $500 to polish your car and still doesn’t address the issue. Now my ‘23 Corolla hatchback is just as new. Had crazy amount of scratches (11 total) because of a lazy contractor who was painting my neighbor’s house and had overspray on my car and tried to wash off the paint. It got to a point where he overdid it and really did some serious damage to it. All I can say is, thank you. Chris’s video really works people. It just takes time and effort.

I watched this video, ordered supplies on Amazon, and executed today. Took about 2-3 hours. It took some courage to apply sandpaper to my new Rivan truck but I had faith and ended up with an excellent result! Thank-you Chris Fix! Jon from San Francisco

I’m honestly happy that ad came on before he made the scratch, I needed that extra 5 seconds to prepare myself😭

STILL see a haze where it was sanded. Needed to be polished a bit more a few more times by hand OR with an dual action orbital polisher. Good explanation about scratches and also the fewer and fewer scratches you get rid of the more of a mirror finish is achieved. LOVE this channel, good job Chris.
