Oh yes, I reaaally hope that too because I truly like Portuguese, it's unique in its own way and I think it would be such a shame not to get a better knowledge of it in this lifetime.     When I worked in the National Praks. I could recognize the western European langusges, Spanisn, German, French and Durch. mostly, Once I got fooled by Chilian Spanish. The Scandinavion langues, I could only tell they were Scandanivian. Asian languages sounded prettu much alike. And the same with the Slavic languages, NOt even Europeans could tell them apart.

    "Bare bra takk", you don't have to be proficient in Swedish to know this. Btw, learn Norwegian instead, it's easier, and you'll be able to understand what the Swedes are saying while also understand what the Dannish are writing. Win win

    Alice In Salt Land It's hard to understand when you're not a native speaker and you listen to someone who doesn't pronounce things like a native speaker, but thanks for that tint of insult. Also I don't think Norwegian is easier. For me they are about the same.

    People did better than I'd expect! But I'm such a pessimist when it comes to people in the US and other languages/cultures. I've had friends from Chicago tell me they don't know the capital of countries like France and England. Haha But it seemed there where quite a few people from different backgrounds in the video. =P Which is always nice to see since we are so diverse here (in some areas of the country at least).

    This has convinced me that I'm terrible with European languages. I'll stick to Mandarin and its neighbor languages. I'm beginner conversational in Mandarin but my hanzi is pretty terrible. Besides that I've picked up a couple words in Tibetan (Amdo) and a few others like Japanese and Mongolian...But until I'm conversationally fluent in Mandarin I'm not going to say that I really know two languages.
