As a regular raptor liner application company rule of thumb also published on upol's site allow raptor to cure for 72 hrs then clearcoat. Have ran into clearcoat hazy if applied earlier.

Respirator would be a good idea spraying the clear . It has activator and hardener in it.

It’s not just that, anything “2K” will contain isocyanates which are permanent exposure. It’s like lead, there is no safe exposure amount and it’s lifetime cumulative. That’s why you see professional painters using positive pressure suits when they paint.

Can we get an update video on this clear coat performance.

A number of years ago we used a product called stone guard, or chip guard. It was very much like bed liner spray, with no color. It was made to be used under base coat/clear coat applications and worked very good. So, I don't see why clear wouldn't work over bedliner.

Didn't even think about doing 2k clear over it. I'm about to do my 4runner wheels and a few other parts. Glad I finally have a use for my 5 cans of 2k clear I have. I bought 12 cans total because it's such a great clear coat. Used it when I fixed the sun damage on the carbon fiber hood on for my car. The gloss is better than when I got it new. Awesome stuff

Like the effect but look after the health with a respirator.

I tried this after waiting about 45 mins for the raptor to set up, it caused the clear coat to absorb into the raptor and become cloudy making the raptor even less glossy than normal. I also tried it waiting till the next day to clear and it works great.

Awesome. Looks great. I found Raptor liner at O'Reillys. Its different than what you used. It sprays, but there no mixing button on the bottom.

@@GoneJustinSeconds The Raptor liner did have it. If it doesn't have the button, it doesn't contain hardener and is plain Raptor Liner, not the 2k Raptor Liner. With Hardener it dries/hardens faster and is more durable as well.

Would you say its best to let the liner cure first before applying clear coat and also if you don't have any adhesive what grade sand paper would you use

Always use a respirator when spraying. Especially 2k clearcoat!!

I have been watching your raptor paint videos. I want to paint my golf cart using Raptor, but without any experience with spray painting, I was concerned with not getting an even finish. I am considering doing their roll on application. In your opinion, which application method would you advise for me. I have access to a large 20 gallon air compressor, but no paint booth. Aerosol cans might be the answer, but I am concerned about a consistent even application. That is why I am considering Rolon application, and with a little trial and error and different rollers, I might be able to get the consistency I desire. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

I wonder as far as esthetics and cleaning how clear helps I just used hurc bed liner and it has a nice shine so far two washes n the same but I feel bed-liner is rough for like rag snags and stuff with clear makes it more slick

Only about 5-8 minutes

I know a guy who died after spraying boat hulls for 2 years with no respirator. Make sure you got a breeze brother.

I missed it...did you wait for Raptor to cure...or did you hit it with clear coat after the Raptor 'book' flash off period? About to do this job myself with the standard spray Raptor (1 hour flash time recommended)....but was thinking I would need to let cure, then red brillo scuff first. If your 'wet on wet' technique worked well....than cool I'll try it too!

Me and my son did his entire 1997 Toyota Tacoma 4x4. His first truck, and we waited 72 hours to put 2k clear coat on. I believe that is what it says on the website as well but not sure. After 72 hours we wash and dried the truck then sprayed it from top to bottom. Then let that cure for 24 hours in our garage/spray Booth, turned out fantastic.

How would this work on wheel flares bill flares on a truck please comment back it looks good on this that's why I'm asking

How long did you let the raptor dry for before spraying the clear? It will be interesting to see how it holds up bc i assume the clear coat is weaker than the raptor liner it self

This is supposed to be one of the strongest 2k clear coats on the market and I allowed the raptor to just dry to the tack phase, so about 15-20 mins

Thanks for this video bro. I wondered how a raptor liner would be with a 2k clear over it. Just based on what you saw from the final product, do you think the raptor liner could be buried in the clear coat with enough coats? I figure that would be a tough but shiny paint job.

Use the adjustment on the raptor liner spray gun. Set it at 2 rotations . It will lay down very flat . Then ruff it up after the cure and lay down the clear . I used 5 coats.

The raptor liner spray gun that comes with the kits (Shultz gun) has adjustments? Getting ready to do my avalanche cladding and getting all the information I can possibly get before I jump into it. How about where two different colors meet. Is it easy to tape off an area that's already been raptor lined and use a different color with a nice line without bleed over? Don't know if you have had any experience in this but I figured I would ask. Thanks for any info.

@@tellitallnow3914 it's a upgrade for about 65 bucks if I remember correctly. Definitely worth it over the base one it the kits. You can do fairly flat raptor liner all the way to chunky

You can clear over raptor with no worries. You just have to let the raptor dry for approx 2-3 days. I did a Vw golf, complete and cleared the whole car 2 years ago. Still looks like the day I sprayed it

Yes. Cleaning really well, scuff it, use a self etching primer and shoot it.

It was still holding up great when I sold it a few months ago.

This thing takes so long to cure & gas out id be afraid to lay clearcoat over it...

Spraying clear without a respirator is like asking for cancer in a year

WEAR A RESPIRATOR WITH ANY ACTIVATED URETHANE SPRAY - Your lungs - etc... are worth a lot more than $50- worth of PPE.

Hey next time use a mask. That stuff is 2K. Need you around. This comes from the guy who painted lacquer with no mask back in the day.

I like your coverage of the topic but sometimes I don't have the patience to watch the whole video and listen to people talk just to see the turnout. Maybe tell them what your doing and show results in the first 30 seconds then tell more detailed info. I like many others on youtube search a specific topic looking for something and we promptly want to see if this is what we are looking for just sayin. Beyond that good video.

Why not call the manufacturer and show what they say? Everyone wants to answer questions without asking the source. Why? Just ask the creator of the product, then if they say Yes, then do the demonstration of their answer. And if you do something seemingly acceptable or as desired initially, that's pointless unless it lasts, and you should have follow up for everything you do as trying to be a "Reviewer" for others to follow.

2K paints require a respirator!!!! Please use one or it can do long term damage to your lungs. You'll need those for whe you get older.
