So his orange is still orange for him, because that's what has been taught to him from the moment he was born. It's not like he could see like a normal person, then one day it just turned different. In fact, we could even argue that my orange is different from your orange.

short explanation: yes. toji can see them. unlike normal humans who have a small small amount of CE. toji has ZERO. his heavenly restriction with elevated senses let's him SEE the curses. it's not like sensing them, he actually SEES them like a sorcerer would.

@@ni9274 idk anything about the data books for these animes but I can give you a big proof. In chapter 77 when Yuki explains how Toji's Heavenly restriction works to Geto she mentions how even though Toji didn't have any curse energy he could still sense curses with his five senses. Which means that his five senses were heightened up for the lack of curse energy and him being able to sense curses with his five senses means that he can see, smell, hear, taste and touch curses.

Anyone who reads the manga and with half a brain cell knows that Toji can in fact see curses. He doesn't "sense" them, he SEES them. Canonically confirmed. Edit: Chapter 77 says Toji could sense curses, and chapter 197 clarifies by saying Maki can SEE curses. Sensing does not always mean seeing. But seeing does mean you are still sensing. So logically, they aren't just sensing a presence, they can literally see curses.

Why was this even a debate lol😂 The man has a whole curse wrapped around his body that he keeps at his stomach at will. That should've been obv enough.

Even if he didn't come in through the opening that Megumi made, he could have still forced his way inside. First reason, is because Barrier Domains are designed to keep people inside, not keep people out, so they're susceptible to being broken into, because typically you'd never want to enter one on purpose. Second reason, is because Barrier Domain's dont even recognize him as a viable target, it sees him as an inanimate object. He, and Maki with her fully realized Heavenly Restriction, have to voluntarily allow themselves to be pulled into a Barrier Domain. He would be targeted by a domain like Sukuna's though, or any domain that is essentially "painted on air" and realized in the living world without a barrier. He would also be susceptible to its attacks. Dismantle is specifically designed to target those without cursed energy.

I don't think we've gotten any confirmation that the barrier-less domains can target toji better or worse than a barrier domain. The only information we have on them being different is that by allowing those inside a route to escape, the domain can get buffed (in sukuna's it is range that is specified). As far as we know, sukuna could target toji because of dismantle, but that's the only confirmed reason he could. There's nothing in the manga that suggest kenjaku's domain would target toji.

Though, Toji saying, "You're not my type," doesn't have anything to do with whether or not he can see her. It's a part of (my understanding of) the urban legend behind that curse. If you say yes, or no, she kills or maims you. So, you have to say something deflective instead.

The competing theory that toji can't see is the idea that he CAN see all the ways the spirit is affecting its surroundings. So he could see temperature changes emanating off of a human shape in that direction type of deal. In this case he'd still see their general shape and still look at them.

(I'm not too sure actually, I might need to reread the Naoya fight.) But in this case, I guess he just saw the hole and was like, "Oh, I'll just jump in from there."

You're right in thinking that Toji can usually enter domains without a hole, but in that particular instance he had a body that didn't have a heavenly restriction, but copied it's effects bc it says that the seance ct is active as long as it's target has ce, but since Toji's form doesn't use ce the body's ce wasn't being used and it couldn't deactivate. That's also why Dagon's domain could target him. TL;DR: Toji was in a body that gave him the benefits of his heavenly restriction without erasing his cursed energy

3:50 what the sumurai could perceive wasn't the same as maki. The samurai guy was able too perceive souls , that's why he was able to use the soul liberation blade ( mai) to cut naoya's soul. Maki on the other hand had all his senses enhanced but she couldn't perceive soul yet at that point. The awakening of maki is a combination of being able to perceive souls at the same time she is able to use all her other senses up to the maximum

@@Federico-mj3si This, he's not seeing anything, he's literally seeing the 'void' the curse has by occupying space and cutting where there's 'something there' that isn't visible. It's like if you were in a pool and an invisible person jumps in with you, you'd see the water moving around their body, you'd hear the splash, you'd notice everything BUT the invisible person and just cut where the water is disturbed.

That would make no sense. Not to mention the fact that he can see cursed techniques.

I would say a stronger point you could have made is if Toji couldn't see the cursed spirit he wouldn't be able to answer the question. After all it isn't just sight but probably hearing that is affected as well.

Anime only here and I haven't watched the video yet, but wasn't this explicitly said by that Blonde 'who's your type' woman? She said told Geto that she wanted to test Toji because he could see curses despite having no cursed energy. This was the entire basis of her idea that heavenly pacts could be used to eliminate cursed energy.

Essentially, his Heavenly Restriction made his eyes loop around to seeing them

Hey really cool videos! And all fact proven. Could you explain a little bit about what does it actually mean to be the honored one.

Manga spoilers on Maki, and this is how i think of the situation: Twins count as a SINGLE person when it comes to curse energy and curse technique, this is confirmed. As we know, Mai got the cursed energy and the curse technique, this left Maki without any of those things, yes, she doesn't have ANY cursed energy, but this put on her an "artificial heavenly restriction" (That's how i like to refer to it). Thanks to how the cursed energy works and this whole system, Maki still counts as someone with cursed energy even tho her body is completely clean, this is the one thing stopping her from being in a similar level to Toji and the thing that doesn't allow her to see curses. When Mai dies, she states that she will take the cursed energy and the cursed technique with her to the afterlife, leaving Maki as a real single being, also deprived of cursed energy, this situation now grants her an exact copy of the Heavenly Restriction that Toji had. Heavenly Restriction not only grants super human strength, speed and that stuff, Toji mentioned to Geto that it also boosts the senses, smell, hearing, touch and we can assume that the sight is also included. Cursed energy is not the only way to see curses, if your sight is literally on the peak of the human potential (Heavenly Restriction), this would be enough to see curses.

the twin thing is a reference to old Japanese superstition on twins, there's a LOT of references in JJK that either get fucked up in translation or don't have the cultural context outside of japan and another important thing people often forget is that like RCT, Heavenly Restrictions are a category not a specific thing, Heavenly Restrictions are pacts forced on you by the world or the gods and thus they cannot be broken by you Mechamaru's heavenly restriction let him remote operate with cursed energy range basically across all of Japan but his body was absolutely fucked because of it so its like the inverse of Toji's situation lel and Mahito just kinda found a loophole in the contract by an outside force forcibly modifying the body lel

Honestly it makes sense, if being heavenly restricted to 0 curse energy gives you a superhuman body to the absolute limits then obviously that includes your eyes and perception. It's like the opposite, people with high cursed energy can see them because the cursed energy is basically amplifying their body and senses, but since Maki and Toji just automatically have that they can see them naturally. Sorcerors have their abilities because the cursed energy is boosting them, by having 0 cursed energy they're boosted automatically. That's just how I saw it anyways.

The heavenly restriction amplifies their physical body including their eyes and other sensory organts to be able to literally see and interact with curses with their senses directly. hey man i really like your videos! and i have a question i really can't figure out on my own when toji entered the cursed spririts domain against geto, the sure hit effect worked against him when he entered dagon's domain the sure hit effect wasnt working because megumi had his own domain disrupting it, he even said "i must regain my domain's must hit effect" when getting floored by toji he also couldn't enter dagon's domain at all which is weird because of this: MANGA SPOILERS when maki fought against curse spirit naoya, she could enter his domain from the outside because her 0 cursed energy basically made domains not detect her, which begs the question why wasn't toji also like that? he couldnt enter dagons domain despite not having any cursed energy, or tools, and he was effected by sure hit effects, or at least its implied hopefully you see this and will be able to figure out an answer cuz i really cant thanks!

he cant sensed when domain barrier active but after megumi open the hole he follow his instinct to fight the strongest opponent and if 2 DE clash the sure hit effect will be in tug of war, thats why the sure hit effect not applied while megumi expand his domain but megumi DE never meant to have sure hit effect anyway just to expand his CT to 120% like black flash did to yuji

Explanation on how Toji get into the domain expansion: There was a hole created by Megumi and is Domain he entered it. More on how he isn't affected by the domain: Having 0 cursed energy means that domains cannot "sense" the person. And therefore cannot target and attack the person. Most lethal domains only target "things" that have even small amounts of curses energy. So unless they specifically target OBJECTS WITHOUT CURSED ENERGY (including tables, telephone poles, etc.) the Heavenly Restricted person will not be targeted by the domain

season 2 episode 5 yuki confirms that toji can perceive cursed spirits with his "five senses". now im not a genius but im pretty sure that means he can see them, hear them, touch them, smell them, and if he so wants, taste them ;)

What if toji has eye lenses that allow him to see curses

Before I watch this I assume he can see them but in a completely different way from sorcerers. Curses still leave an effect on the physical world even tho small and its not just their aura. The biggest effect by far is that they take up space, so things can fall on them but even the light and air will be affected. With his super human senses, he can notice all of that to such an extent that he can essentially see them as clearly as a sorcerer can. But they'll still look different, like a colourless or false colour variant of what sorcerers see.

When it comes to that curse spirit he was “seeing” that asked is she was pretty he already knew it as a potential cursed spirit. This one in particular is based off of a spirit I read about in Japanese folklore that’s asks people on crosswalks if she is pretty. If you say yes or no she will kill you . If you say idk or you’re not my type she won’t. That’s why those blades didn’t kill him when he answered. It’s just like what Mahito was talking about with Junpei about how sorcery are always on a lookout for potential appearances of famous spirits. He already knew about it and therefore already knew how to handle it.

If you look at the fight with Geto that's all you need to know.

My personal headcanon on why this is exactly is that we know curses are made of cursed energy so I think to a degree they exude some level of cursed energy which maybe interferes with the cursed energy levels of the average person, probably as an evolutionary survival strategy, but for sorcerers who have way more varying levels of cursed energy that specific basically wavelength of CE doesn't prevent them from seeing curses, and the same thing for heavenly restriction because they dont have CE to be interfered with. I also just came up with a cool CT for a curse based on that being the ability to identify the wavelength of someones CE and mimic it thus becoming invisible to that individual but you'd be visible to normal humans. The only three real counters for this would be multiple opponents, a heavenly restriction, or someone like Gojo who can see CE.

Trying to see curses is like trying to see microscopic things. Sorcerers use magnifying glass (in this case curse energy) to see curses. But toji's eyes are so goood, he doesn't need magnification (cursed energy) to see curses.

The fact that this alone is "debated" even though it is stated in the manga how he can perceive curses just goes to show how weird this community is. They are pretty much living on debates over nonsense that can be explained by simply reading the manga. Edit: Chapter 77 if you want to read up on it yourself. Yuki is the one explaining Toji's senses.

toji seeing curses can be also further explained as in s1 EP1 it is explained by megumito yuji that when an area has been heavily covered in curse energy even those with less energy will see them, toji however having zero curse energy is effectively stuck in this state imo letting him see them normally

The blade that Mai created for Maki is a replica of Toji's Split Soul Katana, which can slice through souls. But the blade can only reach this potential when the user can see the souls of inorganic objects. So I guess both Toji and Maki(post sumo training) can at least see the souls of inorganic objects, and possibly souls of curses and humans as well.

Toji and Maki can see souls....Thats how they use the soulsplit sword...Everything has a soul in jjk even material objects and we know souls have shapes from the descriptions given by mahito...The soul forms the body making it hense the soul and the body being one a manifestation of sorts So Toji and maki can see curses souls and their shapes meaning they can see them Also its pretty evident that toji and maki can see them as in many scenario they look straight at them and not in any "sensing" sense they just look at them and shit

its literally a fact in the manga as talked about you can not harm or target a soul unless you can see it...its said in narration thats it a primary requirement to use the soulsplit katana they say "PERCIEVE THE SOUL" AND mahito when talks about percieving the soul talks about perciving the shapes of the soul and thus they can most likley see the soul and body of curses and spirits I rest my case @@HabitualThinker

Guess who he picked out afterwards. It's very blatantly stated that at that point, Megumi was the strongest there. Whether this was down due to the other's conditions is up for debate though. Nanami was fucked up, the Zennin Grandpa was an arm down.@@itsjustvin7630

She clearly stated how she can perceive the air vibration but not see them after the sumo awakening. If no cursed energy was all it took, then she should have been able to see Naomia and there would have been no need for her true awakening.

Not anymore. Not since Mai died in ch148. Ever since then she unlocked full Heavenly Restriction. Shes now the same as Toji

2:00 he doesn't have to see her to answer that question. It's based off of real Japanese folk lore, Kuchisake-onna, and when she asks are you pretty, you aren't supposed to answer either yes or no, but you have to come up with something else.

He can’t… maki can’t see them, and she also has a heavenly restriction.. it was also said that toji can’t see them. He feels their presence and how they affect the air around them due to his enhanced senses, but can’t actually see them, just like maki after she awakens

it’d be nice if maki could surpass toji (or she already is?) and her curse energy is negative, meaning she is constantly and instantly heals? shouldcwe call it “heavenly graced”?

Nope Maki and toji have a set physical stats All they can change is how good they fight and use different cursed tools Also they dont heal instantly They have regeneration but nothing broken(i mean its anyway very hard to damage them or even hit them anyway)

i feel that maki saying "is that a curse spirit?" is taking it a little out of context because in that panel she is referring to megumi's nue which she has probably seen with the glasses. I feel that she said those words to convey to the reader that the sheer size of that nue makes it a unbelievable that its a curse spirit
