Suuuuper cool. But, who has a damn laser cutter? Do I want one? Yes. Am I jealous? Yes. Will I watch this video? Absolutely.

Thanks! I'm not gonna lie, it's sweet. I've used online laser cutting services like SendCutSend in the past and that works great other than the wait time.

Hey Tim! Thanks for the video. What kind of wood chips or debris did it create on your plywood template? Does it require dust collection?

That's a great idea! I'll have to get some gasket paper and give it a try.

Making jigs/forms = killer content! Setting laser focus, Z axis height, is tough to get right for thick material. I use hardboard from Home Depot for my jigs, super stable, finger joints without glue once you dial in laser kerf. Thanks Tim.

Very clear to follow, thanks. I’ve seen several P2 reviews and the thick material burning seems common. The P2’s price is probably ok for people who are using it to sell resulting products or services, with Xtool’s D model a more reasonable consideration for most hobbyists.

Thanks! I have a friend with one of their diode lasers and it's really cool too.

The cutting speed seems too slow, or the power level too high, or some combination of that. There shouldn’t be that much charring. Any settings, just as on welders, is a suggestion of where to start. I find that natural materials have a fair amount of variability, so testing on a piece you’re going to use is helpful. Running the test charts before using the printer gives a very good idea of what to expect. By the way, how does that nitrided table surface hold up to weld spatter?

Hey Tim I just recently started gasless flux cored welding and my beads are super skinny, and the puddles is really small I’m using Lincoln 0.35 flux core and I’m using the machines recommend settings do you know what I can do better?

@timwelds, by exposed, I meant with the two holes cut in the guard, not leaving the guard off completely.

May I share an experience to encourage you to stay with the black steering wheel you have - do not use a 'vintage' steering wheel? About 1982 I crashed an old go-cart due to a steering failure. When my body hit the steering wheel it snapped anda spoke ripped me open really bad - lots of deep stitches! My point here is stay with that black steering wheel - it will deform without breaking. If you ever come across a 'vintage' steering wheel - like a white or cream color hard smooth brittle plastic - DO NOT USE IT ON A FUNCTIONING GO-CART - just hang it on a wall and share my story.

Thanks for the tip! I'll steer clear of those. I've actually heard of a few go-kart incidents lately which has me rethinking my hobbies a bit.
