Can the new Acura Integra keep up with its peers? Or the original Type R? - Cammisa Drag Race Replay
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
How quick is the 2023 Acura Integra A-Spec? On this episode of Cammisa's Ultimate Drag Race Replay, we race it against the legend: the original DC2 Integra Type R.
This episode of Ultimate Drag Race Replay is brought to you by WeatherTech: www.weathertech.com/?...
After the new-vs-old Integra race, we race the new Integra against its current front-wheel drive competition: the Volkswagen Jetta GLI and Hyundai Elantra N - the only other fwd, turbocharged, manual-transmission sport compact sedans you can buy today.
For perspective on just how fast today's cars are, we also bring out a Ford Bronco Raptor - though we keep it on the dirt.
Cammisa's Ultimate Drag Replay is all about perspective, including our now-famous walkback, in which Jason explains what happened - including for example, how the Integra's gears are so short that it actually pulls harder than the Jetta GLI; or how the Jetta's all-season tires and overprotective traction control mean it's already behind the all-business Hyundai Elantra N by the time it gets to 30 mph.

@@NvSrAgE679 sensible people compare products mainly off of their price because money is generally what dictates their buying choices. Obviously the integra is more luxury and less performance focused, but this video is meant to show what the car brings to the table from a performance stand point. You can get much more performance for the same dollar which shows the integra is pretty far behind it's segment in just performance. Again, it's more than a bare bones performance car so that's okay but it is obviously the weakest performance car. Saying that it needs to be compared to cars way cheaper than itself is like saying a dumb 8th grader should be compared to 6th graders because he's dumb 😂. The Integra is compared to other $30k cars because it is a $30k car. It's kind of pathetic already that a $30k car needs to be compared to a low $20k car to make it look passable. If you're talking about racing/autocross classes sure. Only issue is in the real world you're paying real money. No one is comparing $30k cars to $20k cars just because the $30k car is so bad that it needs to be compared to a $20k car. That already proves that it's outmatched from a performance stand point.

@@tbm275 It’s such a shame what they have done to the new Acura! I can’t bring myself to call it an integra. I wish Honda would be a bit more bold and take after Hyundai. They easily could have made a high revving 2 door sports car maybe with at least 250 bhp. I understand why they basically just made a civic with lipstick on it but looking at what Hyundai is doing having many exciting cars sonata, Elantra N, Veloster N, Kona N and all the N lines! Honda is kinda letting me down.

With the Type-S duds and this new Integra, Acura has made it abundantly clear that they're simply incapable of making fast cars. Reliable? Sure. Good looking? They are to me. Fun to drive? Yes, but actually no. Considering inflation, the top of the line integra cost back then what the base integra cost today, and thats considering the fact that integra type R's are rare! What is actually happening is the new integra type r if there ever is one, would cost nearly 50k USD, that is toyota supra and nissan z territory, and if you really want a sedan, you are pushing Audi S series cars with dedicated AWD, etc. The question isn't how good cars have gotten, but the fact that the prices have also gone up faster than inflation, meaning that you are essentially getting your money's worth, but you are also being ripped off since your 30K usd doesn't get you a whole lot more today than it did 10-20 years ago. Think about it, what does a 30k camry in 2002 have that a new 30k camry has today? Mostly everything is still useable. 4 cylinder engine, gearbox, a comfortable ride and pretty good reliability and safety. Sure it doesn't have THE TECH but who cares right?

@@singular9 Except that after factoring inflation out, modern cars are actually significantly cheaper than they used to be. That 2001 Integra Type R cost $22,600, which works out to $37.6k in today's money - in other words, it cost more than the new Integra while being slower, less efficient, and having a fraction of the features. You can try to claim that all "THE TECH" is useless and no one wants it, but that's just silly. The vast majority of car buyers appreciate having navigation, media players, hands free phone calls, back up cameras, blind spot warnings, adaptive cruise, etc...
