    A 97 was just auctioned for over 50k . Granted it was a museum quality type r but that also just put every 97 coupe in a league of it's own in the collector market . Now is the time to hold and if possible even buy them because the 97s are never going to be worth less than they are today , even as a lower collector car. Ironically like the 57 Bellaire only the top model will lose value for being modified while the lower ranges will increase with mods . The catch is an rs and ls 2 door can be modded the most while the gsr can have light modding without hurting value while the type r can really have no modding without hurting value .

    90s and early 2000s muscle cars also didn't have that much power...if 250ish seemed like a lot, it was also in a heavier car than a Civic or integra. 2010+ muscle cars are much more efficient as far as power to displacement. Can't say I dont like the ws6 though...Best late 90s/early 2000s style car I've ever been in performance wise for a stock car. Unless you want to pull out some super rare mustang they only made 50 of. Even then we're not talking Nascar. A fwd with 150-200 hp is about equivalent to a rwd 250-300, all things being even stock and no race fuel. If you took a stock mustang, 97 with a 4.6, and an integra r same year, they'd both be super slow compared to even cheap sports cars today

    I see so much hate about Honda cars..... but most of those people have never driven one, and I mean DRIVE, not just cruise around. My car is just a 1992 Honda Civic DX, it is not fast, but even without sway bars, it handles beautifully with the double wishbone suspension. People get so glued to straight line performance, but never think about balance and handling, as well as having a chassis that communicates back to you exactly what it is doing. If you want a pure, raw feeling of driving, an old Honda is a great way to experience that. And by far, the best front drive car I have ever had the chance to be in, is, the Integra Type R. While yes, there are faster cars in every respect these days, they still do not give the feeling of an old Honda. Driving excitement comes from more than just how fast a car goes, it also comes from how said car feels when you push it, and modern cars lack a lot of what makes driving fun.

    I had a 1992 Acura Integra GS, had a short ram intake and an exhaust (both installed when I bought the car). Thankfully, the exhaust was not rice, the car was mechanically pretty decent, and surprised the hell out of a friend that was shit talking Honda. I showed him there is more to life than just straight line speed. A good friend of mine has a 1993 integra GS, we are about to put a 2000 Integra GS-R head on his B18A1, complete with B16B pistons which will give it a compression ratio of 12.5:1, and then I will be tuning it once we have it back together. Has a Skunk2 70mm throttle body, Skunk2 Pro intake manifold, hand ported the intake and exhaust ports, 4 into 1 header, and 2.5 inch exhaust from the collector back to a nice sounding muffler. The car was already pretty nuts with the original non-VTEC head, 70mm throttle body, the B18A1/B1 Skunk2 Pro intake manifold and the same header/exhaust combo, with me tuning on the ECU.

    Carstuff111 throw a B18C in there! I love Hondas too. I have a 95 CX with a B16B block, B18C crank and B18C head. Full build, sleeved, rods pistons, valves, etc with a GT35r. Shit is crazy, but I drove it with the NA JDM B18C for 5 years before going turbo. High 13's @4500ft elev with only 156 whp was still a hell of a lot of fun. I had an 88 CRX Si before the Hatch and that car handled like a dream. Kinda wish I kept it and invested the money into motor mods in that chassis. Looked sportier too. Hondas are great cars. Plenty of options and they're fun to drive.

    *I understand how that feels. So many people hate on Ford because of it's bad rep in the past. The Fiesta ST is probably one of the best modern fwd cars but it's a shame most JDM enthusiasts have never driven it nor even heard of it's existence, cause it doesn't have a JDM badge on it.*

  • @Carstuff111

    @Carstuff111

    6 жыл бұрын

    A good friend of mine enjoyed his drive in a Fiesta ST, it is the only Ford he has ever driven that he actually enjoyed. However, modern cars all suffer from the same issues these days: Too much technology, not enough on making the car actually serviceable. Just because something is nice to drive, does not mean it is a good car. Ford and everyone else these days have made it a bad habit to just cram so much technology into cars, they don't care about anything else. And while you say that Ford has had a bad rep in the past.... it still has that rep because it still holds true. I have yet to drive a Ford product, new or old, that impresses me enough to consider it something I would own. And every, single, Ford product that I have driven, has had something wrong with it, or something goes wrong with it. Well, that is just American cars in general these days. I think the turbo in my roommates' 2011 Chevy Cruze is already starting to fail, and this is a common thing for Cruzes it seems. I am not impressed with much of anything these days. Yeah, cars have gotten faster, and mostly safer..... but I rather own a car that, when something goes wrong, I can fix it without needing a degree in engineering and a pound of weed to keep me calm to work through the nightmare that has become modern cars.

    I had a 96' LS coupe 5spd. Besides lacking vtec it was my favorite car ever, the connection between the driver and car was so strong, the steering, the brakes, the gearbox, everything felt like it wanted you to push the tires to their limit in every corner! Plus Honda reliablity, i went though a dizzy and a clutch in the 3 years i abused my teggy. Sold it for a boring automatic 06' TL. Miss it every day.

    I agree with Waffeey's comments completely. I owned two 1989 Integra RS's and a 1999 LS. Every generation of the Integra was a joy to drive because you could use 100% of the car's capabilities every day. The driving position, steering feel, clutch/shifter action were among the greatest I've ever driven. I also had the base engines (D16A1, and B18B) and both were very reliable with one of my 89's reaching 268,000 miles. Of the two generations I owned, the 89's were better cars. They were 2400 pounds versus the 99, which was almost 2700. The 99 just didn't feel as raw and responsive as the 89's due to the weight. The B18 also frequently felt "lazy" and unwilling to rev quickly. (In comparison to B18C's, B16A's and H22's I've driven). However, the B18 would accelerate in 5th, while the 89's needed to drop into 4th for any real rolling acceleration. The B18 was best to about 4000-4500 rpm, while the D16 liked to live above 3000 and had no problem going to 7000 on a regular basis. The B18 felt tortured near its redline. I too ended up selling my 1999 after 15 years of ownership when the Takata airbag disaster was revealed. I now own a boring 2004 Volvo S80 2.5T. Yeah, I miss my Integra too.

    Me too Greg Mc I got my first car last summer that happens to be the same age as me a 1998 gsr people said the same thing about my car but people seemed to be mis informed for what it is. But I never care knowing that I'm one of the fewer people that owns a dc2 while others have the model ls and claim to have a dc2 and I laugh and tell them it's a dc4 lol.

    What you’re saying is very very true the tuner seen now wasn’t anything like it was 20 years ago, I grew up in the 90s where I developed love and loyalty for Honda’s, I was in high school in the start of the 2000s when Honda’s were about the most popular scene in America at the time and of course we had awesome events to go to like tuner bash or nopi nationals featuring a lot of Vtec’s and this is when everybody was fixing up their rides and the scene was richer, especially where I came up in the panhandle of Florida which was heavy with tourism. Now it’s a distant memory pretty much of what it used to be back when people praised the B series Honda motor or the h and f series and even the D series, I remember back in 2005 a buddy of mine had the only championship white 1998 Integra type R in town and he had a B and M short shifter. A lighter flywheel and a Gretty VTEC controller. Like many people were doing taking the Acura badges off and putting the Honda badges on, he wanted that car to remain what it was on the outside and the body he didn’t put a bigger spoiler or wheels, he wanted the body to remain the same because he wanted to keep it all original except for performance. At the time that car was so much more fun then my other friends 2002 Mustang GT which by the way had 70 more horses. I love the K-series but that right there was the very beginning of a major time shift when the B series retired and the H series also, I’ll never forget riding in my buddies Integra for the first time, it was a Championship white 98 spec Acura Integra type R number 400 and something out of 1500 made, but never thought that car would get up to 80 as quick as it did, on a little side street where you think you wouldn’t be able to get up to 45, even the rpm redline governer was 88 or 8700, this car went up to 9100 out of 10,000. Man the bad ass noise that little Honda motor made and when he shifted out of first gear, those tires lit up at the gear change up to 50 and before I know it that speed dial was at 78 he was at the top of second, that was the most beautiful thing I’d ever felt was pure VTEC, and dammit I miss those days, these new kids on the block will never understand they are constantly ranting on supras and GTR‘s and the other cars with naturally twice or three times more power than the 90s Hondas but it’s the pride the Honda’s had they’ll never understand and that I’ll never forget. Those V-8 guys or turbo V6 guys know they’re in a different class than these Hondas were and of course they love to make fun of the smaller motor, I’ll argue with anybody that when the VTEC engine was introduced it was one of the biggest successes in vehicle history kind of like the rotary of Mazda or the hemi to Plymouth or even the flat boxer motor to Subaru. Japan got it right on the VTEC motor. I’ll always have Honda blood running through me and it will never die.😬👍🏻

    My mom used to own a blue 3rd gen Acura Integra Type R. My dad sold his old Honda, his first car for it. My mom would drive me to a lot of places with her Acura. She would drive me to school, the park, the store and it just felt so cool to be in a JDM car. Sadly, my mom got into a car accident with it thankfully she was fine but its sad we had to scrap it. I had so many childhood memories of it. The Acura is what got me into cars. I’m also an imported type of car guy I’m definitely looking forward to getting my first JDM car soon.

    Had a 91 LS as a first car, that thing was a blast to drive! That's the car I'd go back to if I could. Not the fastest thing in the straights but MAN did it hug the curves. Left many cars behind in them bends...

    TBH, the Prelude was too heavy for Honda performance standards, lol. There was one model that had a pretty damn good engine but that weight was never gonna allow it to handle like the other Honda cars.

    SI0AX still had insanely good handling. Better than probably 95% of cars with the same price tag or even 5K (even without inflation) at the time
