Hello, thank you so much, your videos are really helpful! Could you please make a video how can I break the habit of cranking my neck? Or maybe link it, if you have already made one. I didn't find it. It is very bad, I always have to do that. But the more I crank the worse it gets. Sorry for my english...

As always your guidance is spot on. I have been dealing with a very tight and painful neck, shoulder blades for several years. I have been working with a PT once a month. After my session he gives me one new exercise to work on and I have made significant progress in 6 months. My pain has decreased exponentially! My range of motion is a work in progress but much improved. One exercise he gave me was holding on to my clavicle and pulling down with my hands on the skin and looking up. The holding onto the chin and moving head to the side that you recommend seems to work on that same area and did help me move my neck better side to side. So now I have a new exercise to add to my arsenal. I must add that it seems imperative in this area (from my own experience ) that slow and steady wins the race! Thanks!

I rarely leave KZread comments but just wanted to go on record saying your video help me tremendously! Being in an uncomfortable hospital bed and then a week of poor posture while feeding my newborn led to some pretty severe neck pain. I could not move to the left at all and the muscles were spasming very painfully at random times. Ride your stretching exercises, very gently and slowly, plus that really cool and at the end that challenges the muscles themselves. After one day I saw 50% improvement, the next day was even better! My range of motion will be close to 100% very soon and I'm so glad to have these exercises to rely on should it happen again. Thank you, sir, well done!!

Oh! Also I found that your advice to fire the muscles helps WAY more than stretching. I am pretty flexible, so stretching doesn't do much. Gently firing the neck muscles helps a LOT! THANK YOU for that!

I'm definitely going to try these methods. I've had stiffness in my neck for decades; I remember noticing it even as a teenager. I'm signed up for your Upright Health kyphosis exercises, but I just can't seem to get past the basic introductory stage, and if I miss even these for a few days, I'm starting from square one again.

One day when I was around 14 (I'm 55 now) I woke up and found I couldn't turn my head to one side. I figured I must have slept in a bad position or something and got a crick in it. I still did my some of my normal activities such as bike riding. It lasted the whole day. When I woke up the next day it was gone.

Your thumbnails are the best. LOL I had a rotated vertebrae in my neck that had me in serious pain and drastically decreased mobility. It was so bad. I went to a chiropractor and his neck adjustment gave me a nosebleed. I have yet to find a person on earth who can explain why I had nosebleeds after the neck adjustment. That aside, I am sure my neck issue came from a combination of holding the phone between my ear and shoulder (it was a landline, so not a cell phone) as well as looking up for too long at once. MY child was at the top of the Chick-Fil-A jungle gym and I was trying to talk her down. I finally went up to get her. After that I had severe neck pain. Hence, the chiropractor.

Your ATM theory has been helping me a lot...and now I have hope that I could correct it myself without being dependent on a PT or chiropractor or neurologist, etc etc Thanks a ton

I woke up with terrible pain and an immobile head last year. I went to work anyway thinking the movement would work things out, but didn't. I went to a massage therapist and that was the most painful massage I have ever had. Tears were rolling down my cheeks, but after an hour and ten minutes the pain was suddenly gone. Relief from that pain was worth the torture. I am a fit, flexible, mobile, strong person and have never had that before or since and hope to never experience it again. Thank you for these alternatives to massage if it does show up again. I also learned not to ignore neck pain!

I've been rear-ended 5 times over the course of 20 years. So I have extensive whiplash damage that I never sought treatment for. I have chronic neck and shoulder pain as a result and frequently wake in the morning with limited range of motion. Acupuncture and heat has helped a lot but I'm going to give these exercises a try. I've gone to physical therapy for other injuries and never had a good experience. They always just give me a stack of generic exercises that I follow to the letter but never see improvement. When I tell the PT this they just add more exercises. Wish I could find a PT like you!!

I’ll try your exercises next time, but wondering if there are other suggestions based description of pain.

Your videos are absolutely hilarious, not sure if it’s only me but every time you say something in the means of neck cracking, that sound effect plays and it’s so funny. Also thanks for the advice of techniques to use. My neck hurts so much when I try to turn my neck. I couldn’t turn all the way to the left but I could all the way to the right. Sucks right? Yeah anyway how it happened for me was, me laying down the bed and leaning towards the right and when I got up I couldn’t turn all the way and it started to hurt too so I’m glad I found this video. I’m definitely going to try all your techniques to help me out because this feeling is not fun.

I woke up with an issue like there, where my chin was essentially stuck touching my chest. I managed to get an appointment that day with a chiropractor who worked through the soft tissue and had me moving my head while they held down various points on the muscles. By the end of the appointment, I had recovered full range of motion.

My PT guy dug his elbow in the opposite side of my pain, on the first visit. Painful, but I'm not a wimp. It really helped, immediately. Then he tried to kill me with exercises and if I do them every day, I'm okay. This neck pain has flare ups if I don't do some of these movements every single day.

I slipped on wet grass while running and fell flat on my back, got the air knocked out of me for about 30sec. To get out of bed i reach back and lift my head with my hands, it seems like the muscles used to go up and down with the head are the most damaged. I made an idiotic mistake though, I continued my gym routine to see if I can do it. After doing 2 sets of benchpress I quit cause of the pain, but it's too late my condition got seriously worse. I think it's simply because I was flexing those torn muscles hard. Now it takes me about 2minutes and a ton of pain to somehow get out of bed while not using my neck muscles. I look like a crippled fish. It's so bad. Will wait a few days before going to get some scans

Breastfeeding causes all kinds of havoc on the body for night feeds then add an intense cough & bam! I pulled my neck muscle ! 😞 I’ll try this. I’m doing cold/heat therapy, possibly throw in an epsom soak but it’s hard to reach that area in a bath tub

I was drying my head with towel, like I was cleaning a bowling ball 😂 I have hair not bald so idk why I do that lol I always done it as a kid, I think I pulled the muscles or something. But I noticed I took a hot hot shower, so the heat must of loosened me too much and I was to rug afterwards.

My son's neck can't move up, right, or left . He can barely bend it down. He has Down Syndrome. If I try anything, I'm afraid of paralyzing him.

I wake up with a stick neck and for me the only thing that helps is time. I tried everything under the sun. For years I couldn't tell what it was that was helping -- it always got better, but I wasn't very scientific about what worked because I did everything. I finally got to the bottom of it: nothing was helping. Time.

Exposure to mold or chemicals can cause neck rigidity due to a nervous system response to the threat. Trust me, I know. Your son may be sensitive like me, and he may have been exposed in the hotel room.

Usually I'M the canary in the coal mine with super sensitivity. Luckily he's been fine every other time we've returned to that hotel on family visits. He loves the hot tub. 😜
