@@twodollarstwenty I think the Metro Should start at the Airport, than run elevated near the Cruise ship Terminal to the EXPO, at an elevated station, go through to an Underground Station in the Downtown, then Re-emerge Elevated and cross the Highway into the Suburbs, where it would run at grade.

This is great timing, I've been on a huge World Expo kick as well. In Canada, the Vancouver and Montreal ones were considered two of the most successful 20th Century expos. The Montreal one in particular was incredibly successful, and the new and expanded islands are now host to huge parks, an F1 track, casinos, and a ton of other attractions (Habitat 67 is an architectural feat, was just covered in a great B1M video). It was a hugely successful event for the city and country.

The metro line of Montreal was even created to be ready for expo '67 ! :)

I love the idea of representing the other creator cities! Biffa's New Tealand should naturally have a tea themed exposition (maybe a tea shop?), City Planner Play's Verde Beach could have a tropical arboretum or vertical garden, Oceania could demonstrate how their mining technology could be used for asteroid mining and so forth. Excited for this P.S. I was one of the original people who were calling for the creation of FabArena, so I'm really glad its back and has a bit more history to it!

at 4:10 , the city i live in in Norway has a not so old industrial area, wich at this very moment is undergoing a very big renovation (they have come around half way aleready i think!) that started 2 years ago i think? If you want to take a look at it, look up Moss (the city), and the area im talking about is Verket. Even in 2012 those factories were still active, but then they demolished everything, except a chimney!

Expo 86… If it weren’t for ‘86, the city I live in would still be a small town. Expo basically built vancouver. It brought us skytrain, and that I’d argue is the best thing it did. It’s pretty cool to see someone from the other side of the world inspired by my very own hometown.

Another suggestion about what to use the old train tracks for is turn them into light rail tracks, which is something that can be found on for example, parts of the ”Tvärbanan” Light Rail in Stockholm.

i think that, now that you've included cities of other people into the "canon" of sunset cities, that you could also do that with other cities. maybe you could make a company of sunset city become really big and also have shops in other cities of yours. i think it would be cool to see a fab soda sign in oceania for example

Love that you added other KZreadr flags. I bounce between yours and CityPlannerPlays all the time. One of his biggest themes he uses a lot in his videos is “Mulligans” and “The Height of Realism”. He also has a company named “Johnson Aggregates”. Be fun to see any of those in the expo. Love the content.

We’ve had a world expo in my home town before. Most of our great downtown infrastructure and event centers and stuff still stand and are functional for the most part. This is awesome to see in game!

Love connecting other Cites Skylines series! I always envision CS in an alternate universe curving out a similar, but yet it's own geographical footprint.

I was so happy to see Scylla Republic's flag and you mentioning this gem of a series by JeremyThunder. Too bad it was abandoned. I love the new expo area, your style is something else man..!

I really like how you use the countryside for some small but cool details. So I had an idea that you should add a serial killer to the storyline, the "Swamp monster" or something like that. You should decide if he still roams the streets or rather that there was a serial killer a long time ago and he was never found. You could add like old abandoned cars of his victims near roads in the middle of nowhere or an abandoned shack where he takes/took his victims and so on. He would be a cool legend and a part of the history of the city.

as some one that went to Expo 86 in Vancouver, this looks amazing ! this would be a good dlc package for Skylines 2. another thing you could add is the concert area, be nice if you could add more than one. maybe have a cruise ship port near the expo site as well (edit: use the nightlife content and then have it as entertainment either in the expo or close by to draw more people)

I feel that this should be the 1984 World Expo just to split the difference between ‘82 and ‘86 and the expo probably wouldn’t go up in less than a year. I really enjoy the concept and look forward to seeing how much remains permanent. (Love the flags!)

A entertainment company could come in and buy the land of the expo after it finishes. They could transform the area into a theme park like Disney. The basic infrastructure is there and it would make sense if they noticed the city after the expo

Not sure if you're aware, but the rocket stella that you've used for your expo sits on top of museum of cosmonautics which is located at the Moscow's World Expo Center, which makes it double appropriate for this build.

The valdez showroom should hold car shows, showing off new and also classic cars from around the world.

Jeremy's portion of the expo would probably focus on graffiti (or street art to widen the options) and CPP would definitely focus on city planning and urbanism. It's so cool that you include pieces of other creators into your city, the story is totally coming alive!

Calgary Tower being there looks odd as a Calgarian just because of how iconic it is to Calgary. But I'm guessing it works for everyone else so I'm not complaining!

I loved the monorail in Sydney. I would take my grandson to the Powerhouse museum on it.

Please use something related to fluxtrance for the flags. His city skyline series were by far the best I have ever watched, and genuinely inspired me to write and be creative while watching his videos when I was young. Something referencing Avalon or RhineStone island would be so cool.

I just love how you rework your city too give it such a deep lore & how you make every video interesting with different inspo pictures etc! 😊🙌 I also love the addition of other creators flags for their regions ❤️🥹

This is one of the coolest episdoes I've seen of you! Your builds never fail to inspire me to get into C:S and start playing! I gotta say, I was absolutely SHOCKED in the best way when I saw my comment featued in the video! I'm so thankful you took one of my ideas into account! Also, I saw you placing those commercial buildings around the soon-to-be FAB Arena and it gave me yet another idea: perhaps you could do something where you essentially have a small area of dense development around a stadium that's almost like an enclosed town area around the stadium! I know many places have this but one of the ones I know the best (seeing as I live close to there) would be the BATtery in Atlanta, Georgia! It's a very interesting thing and I encourage you to check it out!

Loved the episode, and thank you for taking inspiration from Knoxville! Also at 6:20 I can confirm that World's Fair Park still stands in great condition with the Sunsphere being recently renovated a few years ago. However there's an ongoing fear that one of the open plots may be bought up by the next-door Univ of Tennessee for more apartment/dorm towers. As of right now the university's area is having 2 large towers being built at the moment.

Idea: Because you've featured other KZreadrs with the flags you can also feature some of their custom companies or buildings if any in the expo

You should host the Eurovision Song Contest in Sunset City or Oceania.

Maybe another project would be Sunset City hosting a Formula 1 or other Motorsport event. Could be a custom racetrack or build a temporary city circuit.

The tower is from Calgary where I live (it is called the Calgary tower)

Pretty much made the Skytrain. Then the Olympics expanded it. As much as it feels sketchy these days I can't deny how efficient it is being automated meaning trains come every 2-3 minutes.

It's been dead for a while. But from CWCW, can WOK Industries have a booth? If you want a sphere/dome it would be the perfect sponsor for it.

I like to think that the industry that was there before was for mining phosphate for fertilizer, because thats the only ore I can think of that would be in florida.

Love the use of the Calgary Tower! It's from my hometown!

Awww yeah! Vancouver Expo 86. They built our skytrain for this. I actually work in one of the old Expo 86 buildings. They were moved to a neighboring town after the expo.

Great to hear that you have plans for a Space Port area like Cape Canaveral... This was also one of my comments in the early episodes. When I think of Florida, the first things I have in mind are Miami, Everglades and rocket launches. ;)

The "Old Arena" is the Videotron Center, it is a huge arena in Québec City, Quebec, Canada. Many events are hosted there, with most often being hockey matches.

as a brisbaner, I enjoyed the mention of stefan's needle - surely Sunset City also has an eccentric hairdresser tycoon that buys a prominent landmark from the expo?

@@twodollarstwenty In real life, once Expo 88 was over in Brisbane, the exhibition was slowly deconstructed. To stop the sky needle from being moved to Tokyo Disneyland, an eccentric Lebanese hairdressing tycoon named Stefan bought the tower and moved it on top of his company headquarters where it now is in South Bank. Maybe one of the main Sunset City characters (or an entirely new one) will buy the observation tower and move it to prevent it being destroyed once the Expo is over. I think it would be pretty funny if it is eventually placed on top of a suburban home so it looks really out of place (but would give a lot of character!)

SkyTrain from Expo 86 in Vancouver!! It was neat to see them in the first few seconds to start the video. It's amazing that those mk. i trains are still being run today, although they are being phased out. I'm excited for the new mk. v rolling stock to come into service in 2024.

Nice. I live near Miami now and lived near Knoxville in 1982 when I was 10. Actually got to go to the Knoxville Fair. I can still remember a lot of it and it was really fascinating to see.

I love the idea of this. Stuff like World Expo and Olympics are a great idea for a city to add more infrastructure and art while boosting tourism in the short and long term. But they always come with challenges on how to recoup cost and making it work around the current infrastructure. Its something that, coincidentally Brisbane is going through at the moment with the Olympics.

The big thing left behind from Vancouver Expo is the SkyTrain. That first line is called the Expo Line for a reason, as it was built to serve the Expo and demonstrated new technology. Since then, SkyTrain has expanded throughout Vancouver and that new technology from the Expo is found worldwide now.

Since you are basing it off of a space expo, you could definitely take some inspiration from the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Specifically, the Davidson Center building with the Saturn V Rocket inside. And a bunch of the other rockets from the Space Race on display. That area that you set up for the rocketry could possibly be turned into a rocket museum (along the lines of Florida's rocket museum taking inspiration from Huntsville as well). That way, post-Expo, people of your city will always have an opportunity to learn and become engrossed by the Space Race and Sunset City's possible role in it!

Glad you got a Skyneedle. Most important part of any 80s expo.

I love this build for the inspiration and imaginative use of assets, both visible and functional ones. I do like the concept of a narrative goal or at least a less "out of the box" concept build. I'm not really into detailing to the extent of using decals and props much, let alone Procedural Objects. But excellent to see. 18:16 I'd guess the Event Generators were made before the P & P DLC came out and had no knowledge of the pedestrian roads. Do standard stadiums connect to pedestrian roads now? I don't have P & P yet to test.

The chimney stack should be repurposed to a tower with restaurant on top. They do that in Expo98 in Lisbon

Buying a monorail ticket to the expo station includes the Expo ticket price, but includes unlimited rides around expo stations. Thats how it would work in reality, I think!
