Religion and spirituality should be a private quest for everyone, as it’s different for all. Reason and logic should be shouted from the rooftops, for everyone. As it’s the same for all. Because without both ideologies, humanity will never flourish. ( btw- I’m a Sikh boy )

The view of religions is different - with Buddhism clearly it is said to be a Teacher faith In life one meets many Teachers, not one The goal is Enlightenment, Knowledge Hinduism gets ignored because of the dark skin of its followers but clearly the Hindu Gods are our Teachers We welcomed the Buddha as one of our Teachers In any other land, the Buddha would have been branded a heretic, an apostate and been burnt to death, same as Giordano Bruno The top two - that is the sad part - are Master/Slave religions The goal is eternal pleasures of the flesh Every time I ask theists to describe a day in Heaven, what does one DO there, they run away Master will GIVE those pleasures of the flesh, they cannot be earned Therefore, we must beg & grovel to the Master and no other Amazing how religions using cheap promises of the easy good life can turn bright educated people into their slaves blindly serving religion

I am still convinced that all religions with their gods are ridiculous. And by the way buddhism is not a religion, it is a common misunderstand. The buddha himself reject the idea of god. The core of buddhism is the teaching that lead to self-realization of truth. If you want to realize the truth, follow his teaching, there is no need to blindly worship any god.

@@infinitemonkey917 Evidence? And what do you think about this argument of mine? Apostle Paul wrote some angry or at least passionate letters to the Galatians and Corinthians mentioning miracles in them happening among those people. If miracles hadn't happen there, then he would have made himself ridiculous in their eyes - but his purpose was to make them take him seriously. So it is logical that miracles did happen with them and Paul. But if they did why could they not have happened with the other apostles and Jesus, too? And if they did, then why could not be true everything the Gospels describe? Luke, Paul's friend, an eye-wittness wrote about miracles happening with Paul. Was he right then - as real miracles did happen with Paul as we know from his letters? Did Luke tell the truth? But did he still have to lie in connection with Jesus? This would not be logical. Paul's letters are authentic and realistic. And from them a few logical steps lead to the accounts of the Gospels about Jesus being true.

Very interesting question. My religion, spiritism, does teach that all religions are right in a way, and that their different explanations exist to fullfil the need of each group of humans on Earth, like how schools teach the same subject over the course of many years but always deepening the student's understanding, appropriately for their age. Spiritism believes that we are immortal spirits, in different stages of evolution, that's why we need many explanations, to fulfill our needs in our evolutionary stages. Jesus even mentions it when questioned about marriage, where Moses said divorce their wives under certain circumstances, Jesus said they shouldn't, and told that Moses thought them that way because their hearts were too brute, and those that could marry without divorcing should do so. My spiritist branch is universalist, stimulating the study of other religions and beliefs in order to see the truth behind the dogmas and rituals, to see the universal truth through the many perspectives the world has to offer, and always thinking on what fits us best, what can be helpful on our lives, what can we take from another religion that really matters. Spiritism in general teach us to think rationally about our faith, because no one can be followed blindly, not even the spirits, as they're humans like us.

Another great episode of CCT, thank you! This really brings us some answers, as it shows that only 1 or none of the religions practiced in the world can be really true. Most likely, none of them are true, at least not literally. The last guest speaker summarized it well: it all depends what you are looking for, spiritual fulfillment or objective truth. It looks like most religious people are really looking for spiritual fulfillment, while rational people are looking for objective truth. In that sense, science and religion serve different purposes.

A lot of religious people say their religion is superior but it doesnt manifest in their everyday living. They judge, hurt, and persecute other people with different beliefs. Physical body loves division and labels. In spiritual we are all connected.

Therefore,in all good things I seek, Forgive, love, and always give glory and Thanks to my Father, the creator of everything. My beliefs also stem from experiences, I do believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, but I do not limit myself to being a CHristian-because there are many wise prophets that expand my mind and as long as I am finding peace, sharing love, being honest, and giving thanks-more shall come on my journey-such as more wisdom and enlightenment.

Just the fact that there are a multitude of religions testifies as evidence that the spirit of the source of reality indwells the minds of all humans and draws them inward, regardless of how those human minds distort and interpret that reality. This includes atheists.

In medieval times in Rome, the Pope, influenced by some conservative advisers, decided to expel all Jews from the city The Pope, not wanting to seem as forcing his decision on the Jews, allowed a debate to be held so the Jews could defend their citizenship. That night, the Jewish Rabbis gathered in the synagogue to decide who will debate against the Pope. However none of the Rabbis wanted to debate against him, so they started arguing. The synagogue janitor, who was attracted to the commotion, volunteered to oppose the Pope. "You are just a janitor, how could you possibly win in a debate against the pope?" said the chief Rabbi. But since nobody else was brave enough to volunteer, the janitor was chosen. On the day of the debate, the Pope walked onto the stage with his advisers, all dressed in white and wearing golden crosses. The janitor also walked onto the stage, surrounded by the oldest Rabbi with their long beards and black garments. The debate began. The Pope immediately pointed at the janitor and then at the sky. Without hesitation, the janitor pointed at the ground beneath his feet. The Pope then pointed at the janitor with his finger, and the janitor responded by pointing three fingers at the Pope. Next, the pope took out an apple from his pocket and held it in the air. The janitor reached into a paper bag at his waist, and took out a flatbread. The Pope looked surprised, and announced that they would not expel the Jews. Back at the cathedral, the Pope's advisers asked the Pope,"Father, the exchange during the debate was too difficult for us to follow, please explain what happened." The Pope replied: "I first pointed at the heavens and the earth, indicating God's marvelous creations. But the Jew pointed at the ground, telling me that hell exist too. I then pointed at him with one finger, telling him that only one God exists. But the Jew countered that by pointing three fingers at me, acknowledging the holy trinity. I then abandoned theology for science, and held out an apple, showing how people think the earth is round even though the scriptures state the earth to be flat. The Jew held out a flatbread, acknowledging that the earth is flat as the scriptures teach. I could not find fault with his argument so I withdrew." In the synagogue, the janitor also had to explain what happened during the debate. "So he points at me as if to tell me to get out, but I want to stay right here, so I point at the ground. He then points one finger at me to curse me to death, so I point three fingers at him to curse him three times. Then he brings out his lunch, so I bring out mine

Physics is proof that reality is inherently paradoxical. Truth in Physics only exists where you can predict the outcome of an experiment. Dropping a ball will end in it falling to the ground... True. The paradox is that even though we know the outcome of the experiment. We actually don't know if the ball falls to the ground or if it the ground rushes up to the ball. In reality it is this weird superposition state of being both and neither at the same, but what makes the most sense to our brains is simply imagining that the Earth has "Gravity" and attracts smaller objects, when really that is the simplest way to think about it and not the full story. An object in free fall from its own perspective is actually totally weightless and floating. There are so many things in physics that immediately twists your brain into knot where truth is actually impossible and if you really want to understand you have to just let it go. How long is a second of time? such a simple question that is easily answered with a watch, but if you really think about it you realize that the thing we call a second of time is actually completely intangible and impossible to represent in any way that isn't arbitrary to reality in some way there fore that second of time doesn't actually exist and sure enough Our system for measuring time is an abstraction that represents information about reality while itself being a manifestation. I think if your look to physics for Objective truth about the world you need to learn about physics more because, the key isn't fitting the lock here.

Yes. But perhaps you have read about the anthropic principle.

Why would it be necessary for all religions to be true for any to be true? Human beings in general share many natural tendencies. One of them certainly is the desire for coherence and meaning in some kind of worldview. This would give them a natural tendency to produce religions. If one, or more, of the religions happened also to be true, that wouldn't mean that people in other parts of the world who were followers of other religions had been somehow cheated of an entitlement. I am surprised someone didn't mention the parable of the five blind men describing an elephant based upon where they are able to touch and examine one: Imagine there are five blind men at different parts of an elephant. One at the ears, one at the trunk, one at the legs, one at the stomach and one at the tail. They would each describe what the think an elephant is drastically different and they would all be correct. However, each of their descriptions would be incomplete, and only by coming together would they be able to have a more complete picture.

Actually it is not that hard The top 4 religions can be divided into 2 types 1. Christianity/Islam are Master/Slave religions - God made in the image of the master of the past - the King/Dictator - "We must get down on our knees, swear loyalty & obedience(belief), praise him sky-high & hope for a reward(Heaven)" Simple primitive ideas from simple, primitive people The goal is the easy lazy life - Heaven seems to be one Vast Retirement Home Billions sitting about doing nothing, a useless existence for eternity 2. Hinduism/Buddhism are Parent/Teacher - Child/Student religions. These religions don't preach running away from REAL LIFE and hiding in some fantasy land in the sky These religions don't view God as a Sugar Daddy, the Knight in shining armor coming to save the damsels in distress Hinduism says you are a Child of God - at some point the Child must become an Adult and replace the Father/Mother Our place is here on earth - this is our home - Reincarnation

@@ramaraksha01 Well, as for Christianity, not so. Christ is present in the needy fellow man. So serving others in love is a basic Christian ideal and this continues in heaven where people love each other - which also means a mutual readiness to empathy, honour and serving the other. Jesus washed the feet of his disciples at the Last Supper - and he did this as part of the Holy Trinity. Christian God is loving and giving, not a mean and selfish dictator.

@@akostarkanyi825 lol my question was about Heaven - and you people continue to avoid that question What does one DO in Heaven? What work awaits you? How are you helping people by being in Heaven? So after you die, because you are the family's primary bread winner, your family might be kicked out of their home and be forced to live in a shelter or their car How are you helping them? There will still be poverty, discrimination, hate, racism, climate change, natural disasters, drug wars, dictators and so much more - but you escape all this and will be enjoying the easy good life in Heaven? Hinduism preaches Reincarnation - WE come back - WE will fight all the evils that the world throws at us But we don't preach hate & division using words like "We Hindus are doing this or that" - You are welcome to join us - believe in Reincarnation - you don't have to even change your religion But I am guessing that is unpalatable to you - all that cheap talk of helping people only because you are forced to be here The first chance you get to run away you do

@@ramaraksha01 You are honest and kind. Thank you. As far as I know reincarnation does not mean the continuation of one's consciousness. If I am right in this then the "WE come back" might be meant only with some symbolic meaning because literally noone knows about himself or others being reincarnated. So then I or anyone else cannot feel that "we are here from our previous lives" because we cannot know about them. As for the Christian concept of heaven... Really, there are different concepts but what seems to be mainstream to me is that it is "another world" or "another dimension" which is NOT some parallel world with ours. It is not so that "the others still exist in this world while you parallelly exist in heaven not caring about them". According to Christian faith this material world will come to an end (and most Christians think that in the historically foreseeable, not too far future). And then comes a New Creation where everyone will have a life, the seed of which was created by his or her earthly life. Evil seed - evil plant. Good seed - good plant. What that life will be we are not informed in detail - only that we will share the same glorious existence the Risen Christ has if we loved Him and lived a life in communion with Him. Compare an acorn to an oak - compare this earthly life to that one. There is a continuation and a sameness and still the afterlife of the acorn is very different and unimaginably larger compared to the earlier one. So from our earthly, historical timeline that New World comes only in the future - but God might and do allow the citizens of the New Jerusalem to help people in this world which could be seen by us here on Earth as a "past world" compared to theirs. But for them space and time do not mean the same as for us. They can be here - by God's agreement - whenever they want. And they might help us, at least through intercession (prayer to God). But perhaps by other means, too. That is why the majority of Christians (Catholic and Orthodox) often pray to saints. We believe they make a community with those who are "already there" in the future and can help us - especailly by strengthening our hope in that coming world through their intercession and some miracles which happen because of them. Can this world gradually become a future heaven by mankind becoming wiser and better - and religions helping them in this? This is one possible concept. I personally cannot tell if it will be so or there will come an End of the World instead. Who can tell the future exactly? All I know is that Chrisitanity (based on the Bible, esp. the Book of Revelations) tends to believe rather in a dramatic end of the world than in a gradual, peaceful evolution. And what about the question behind Mr. Kuhn's video? Why are so many religions and what was or is God's intention with that? All I can say is that it is a mytery even to Christians. But I do not think that the history of himanity is something random and independent from God - I think that he knew all the values in mankind's history and loves us even among our mistaken beliefs. Not a theology exam is which allows one enter heaven but simply his or her personal will to live a communal life of selfless and mutual love. And deciding so heaven begins (in some way) already here, on Earth.

I believe you have to look deeply within, clear the mind, forget anything you were taught as a child, then take a deep breath and apply logic. Logically religions contradict themselves, plus there are some strong disciplines and acts within many religions which go far beyond any moral values. Would I follow a judgemental god, the answer is 'no', would I follow a god that allows cruelty and suffering in the young and innocent, then again the answer is 'no'. Can I believe a mythical figure high up in the sky that created everything, sees everything and has a 'plan', then again the answer is no. I don't have a belief, I have logic and values and for me they keep me rooted deeply in reality.

But actually every thing is a belief. We only know what we think we know thru our senses. And who's to say. That there acurrat. We may. Not exist at all like we think just a big imagination. Or a matrix. A simulation. As that old saying goes I believe I exist therefore. I am. Beyond that. There is no real proof. Just a belief.

Hello - As long as one believes, that is the essence of all religions, which come in regular periods of every 2160 years. Each one introduces a fresh facet of human evolution, the Christian for instance - introspection/meditation (prayer). Look at the Mona Lisa. Why is she enigmatic? Because she is engaged in the interior life. She is a thinking being with a secret that she is withholding from us. All religions are as pearls on the golden thread of truth. Lord Krishna states: ``When religiosity declines, I descend Myself on all the worlds of the Universe.'' There is liberation and final ascension for all. The time this will take is known only to the highest Initiates. The figure has an astonishing number of zeros added on the end. Enough said. Blessings - RevDrD

In general, human beings are a pretty narcissistic lot. So we naturally believe that our worldview/belief system is the one that is true. It doesn't matter if you're an adherent of a religious belief system, a materialist belief system, or what have you. It's the same thing for most of us.

As an atheist myself I don't think atheism means rejection of everything taught by all the world's various religions. It also doesn't mean rejection of believers, or even thinking of myself as "better than" believers. However, if a Christian (for example) thinks I'm going to Hell, that's a problem. What I'd like believers to understand is that, in effect, they all belong to exclusive clubs. They'll say it isn't true -- that anyone can become a Christian, or a Muslim, or whatever, but I'd be an imposter in any of these religions because they all require me to believe at least one thing that I'm simply not capable of believing. If I claimed to believe I'd just be lying (and an all-seeing God would surely know that).

That's the sad thing here In the 21st century, the top religions are Communist Dictator-style religions Get down on our knees, beg, grovel and be rewarded! And these are highly educated, intelligent people! Frightening really!

Another condition must be fulfilled, that's the scriptures must contain information (that was not known to the world when it was revealed) that was confirmed later on by proven scientific FACTS. Only then we can consider that religion to be true..

I'm not sure why someone who doesn't believe seeks to determine the truth about whether there is a God. Let the believers demonstrate it, is how I feel. I understand that some people see the lovely things that some believers believe about their God and their religion and for some reason they want the same things. My feeling is that I'm completely uninterested in what any of the religions claim, no matter how beautiful and lovely they are, until there's a reason to believe any of what they're claiming is true. And because there is such a long and deep history of humans making up the most core claims of their faith, I tend to doubt any of them are true.
