Thia video was just about promoting the site. We can't answer questions about people's ideas or businesses or circumstances. Hey guys! This video is actually a last min competition entry because we realised it could also be a stand alone video for our channel too as there is a bunch of new info for people now! Can you start a business as a foreigner in Korea? There is more info out there now. However we can't give any individual advice. We can't answer questions about your own personal business ideas.

    I am actually interested in providing IT cloud services in the Korean market as I see that the technology there is rapidly increasing and also the fact that there are very competent engineers and admins in that IT field. I personally come from an IT background and I am shifting towards the cloud and eventually I want to make a business out of it to support start-up or even big sized companies proving a cloud infrastructure for them to fully function. The only thing is that I am not as familiar in how competitive the cloud tech market is over there but I want to see what kind of demand there is so that companies can be 100% productive. But yeah that's my current Idea since i got nothing holding me back.

If I had the money... I wish I could (not really invest ) provide better accommodation for all those students struggling to get into good universities, those starting up working and maybe make them feel better (I’ve seen introduction to goshiwon and I feel really bad for all those young people..)

    KZreadrs that set up business in Korea usually have other things related to making videos that they do and register business that way. If you were asking about my situation specifically, I can get dual citizenship but just have residency (partner visa) at the moment as that is easier. No need to travel even when renewing (I renew it every 3 years).

    MKH oh sure. They just have everybody on lockdown? And you’re not allowed to leave your area? If you do it’s bad. Like this one pregnant woman they tackled her at the beach with her children? Just like England they have a 10 PM curfew. That’s going crazy. But the coronavirus doesn’t come out after 10 PM at night?

    That's just Victoria though? My family in other states still have relatively normal lives as no cases in their areas. I think it's very hard decisions for state governments to make. Especially as the federal government could have done more. I understand people in Victoria are very depressed in such a long lockdown. The numbers have gone down now, but unfortunately so many deaths. In Korea we haven't had any lockdown but we all wear masks and have contact tracing. Australia messed up contact tracing, but also don't know if it would have been accepted by people. But then on the flip side.. lockdown is awful. It's one of those hard questions of what is important and what is close enough to normal life without allowing covid spread to explode. Like in the US it's horrifying, so many people have died. For us in Korea we have all the measures to deal with it without having a lockdown.... yet at least.

    I have a question! I liked that you mentioned that people can have a fantasy about how it is to live in Korea. I visited Korea last year and made the decision to move to Korea to see if it would be the right fit for me. I had planned to come this autumn with a plan to stay for a year to see/feel/experience living in Korea to then make the decision to stay longer or not. But due to covid I decided to wait a bit. What would be your tips in regard of moving and covid? Because of course you have to stay in quarantine for 2 weeks when you arrive, which for me personally, is just very very expensive. Do you think it is still worth it to come now? Or should I try to wait it out a bit? I know you also don't know when this all is over, but I love to get your opinion if paying for the quarantine is worth it, or if I should wait and see how it all is in months from now. Thank you.

  • @MyKoreanHusband

    @MyKoreanHusband

    3 жыл бұрын

    I think it would depend on how long you would want to visit for. Also at the moment I think only business related visas are being granted? I know people who planned to come on working holiday visas now can't. There are still definitely people coming to Korea and doing quarantine (though for business trips they are soon making it that people won't have to) and staying for several months at a time. Korea has not had a lockdown and while some museums and tourist attractions aren't open, there is still lots of normal life just going on. So my answer in general is if someone has a visa for Korea and can come, and were going to be able to stay for several months, it would still be worth it.

    If I were you, i'd wait a bit. at least till spring. we wanted to go to Italy this year (for good) but the virus happened, borders are closed, so on. We'll take the time to start a business in the country we're in right now (we only need to fill out the paperwork, and pay some fees), though most importantly, we need to figure out the taxes aspect ;p

    This is great to share this info! I agree the prep work for any business in any country is a lot at the beginning. I don't want to own my own business because there's so much and I don't think I want all that responsibility. However I do know a woman who immigrated here (the US) from Jamaica who after years of coming on a Seasonal Work Visa finally got her Permanent Resident card and owns her own food truck!

    Visas aren't really specific like that, and there are different ways to have a business in Korea so I can't really tell you exactly what visa. As far as starting a fashion brand in Korea, that's a huge undertaking so possibly doing a fashion course at a Korean university would be a good step. Or developing in your own country first and branching out to Korea. For any business visas there would be lots of things you need to prove. Speaking Korean would be important and making a lot of contacts in Korea would be important as well. I think it would be easier to be in Korea on a student visa or working holiday visa and lay the groundwork before attempting to get a business visa.
