do both of the full songs with a proper time to "study" and do it at your best. you are an insane musician, with an insane song. i know your time is limited, but your skillz are UNLIMITED! Imagine just playing 8 bars or bach and call it a day... bach would wake up from the dead!!! now tim is still alive tho, he deserves and we deserve it full. pretty please?

I think this is slowly becoming Ray Chen's application to feature in Polyphia's next *piece*, and I'm all for it.

THE ADDITION OF VIOLIN WOULD MAKE IT SOUND EXISTENTIALLY PHENOMENAL YESSSS
"He's already doing octaves" Its a pretty sick riff but as a guitar player I can assure this is almost certainly way harder on violin. Especially if you want to play the piece with the same energy as a guitar player. Fair play for nailing it
@IssamUAhmed
6 ай бұрын
Yeah octaves are v easy on guitar. Just like playing double stops or chords or harmonics, all stuff you'd learn pretty early on
@ultimatesoup

I play both guitar and violin... can confirm they are WAY harder on violin. If you are even the slightest bit off on violin it's super obvious whereas you just have to hit 2 frets a step away and 2 strings down for MOST octaves on guitar

@@IssamUAhmed Dude harmonics are not easy on guitar, and no beginner learns them or should practice them
@vlurpjuice8620

@@rykehuss3435 I beg to differ. Harmonics can be challenging but there is no reason a beginner shouldn't practice them. Plus, plenty of people learn them early on.

@@vlurpjuice8620 Yes there is a reason, and the reason is that theyre better off practicing more basic techniques. Plenty of people make mistakes in the way they practice

I swear 🤣
I truly hope Tim sees this. Polyphia often will sit and watch fan videos and covers. Really want to see his reaction, he's always honored and humbled to be covered by all levels of musician, but especially by those who take such care and effort into learning his music. Well done, Ray. Excellent adaptation to the violin.

Tim is such a humble and chill dude. You can tell he loves music, and musicians
the crazy thing is that in the 30minutes... Ray is talking to the camera, reacting, and explaining.... along with watching Tim's tutorial. So Ray is doing it in LESS than 30 minutes!

I feel like he already knows how to play it by just looking at it but pretending just so he could praise the author who his audiences also like. But also because he’s quite nice.
THANK YOU. it's not a song without singing.
This just reminded me that Tim Henson actually grew up playing the violin until around 15. In an interview, he talks about how his teachers sort of made him hate it growing up because they were physically abusive (I think they hit him across his hand with a bow if he made mistakes??) but that he's grateful he had the opportunity to learn because it taught him discipline. Love how this turned out, this series is so fun!

RAY, THOU SHALT PLAYITH “.40oz”! THINE LORD HATH SPOKETH.
I'll absolutely be there and cheering if/when you do a collab with Tim Henson & the whole Polyphia band! Amazing performance, thanks for sharing with us.
Isabella is the best at these sheet music, her effort must be appreciated
I feel weird writing this, but it has to be said. I love that Ray looks like a cute oppa while preparing, but when he is performing, he transforms into this .. hot focused mystery man.

That's how a lot of the greatest are. Whether it be Ray Chen, Lewis Hamilton, Tim Henson, or Larnell Lewis. They're all humble, highly approachable people that turn into absolute KILLERS when they get into the zone.
Bro is lokey the goat of violin himself.

Not low key he plays Instrumentes we regular humans aren't even alowed to hold. 😅
It still amazes me so much that he’s able to play that within 30 min. Even if he only played 1/3 of it, it sounds like it been worked on for months
Yesss more Polyphia and guitar love🥺 Awesome job as always Ray! Highly recommend So Strange and Reverie by them
Everyone: hammer on Ray: He's doing left hand pizzicato there!!!
Can you just make an entire Polyphia cover album? It’s beautiful on the violin!!
It's amazing that Ray Chen learned to play all of that in just 30 minutes.
Absolutely love this! I would also really want to watch a video of you without the time limit and just learning a whole Polyphia song. I think it'd be cool if you talked about how you would transcribe a piece's sound/vibe into your violin playing and what kind of personal flair you put into it

I dont think Ray has time to properly practice a whole Polyphia song, I mean he is still first and foremost a classical soloist
Amazing work! I LOVE IT!!
super cool vid. thanks for sharing and thanks Rode!
You really captured that dissonant, almost chaotic sound so well. The original song is obviously played so clean, but the notes give you a feeling of unease and tension and you REALLY nailed that. I love your versions so much
Amazing job Ray. Loved it.
wow that sounded really sick, actually. i love how this interpretation really showcases the dynamic range of the violin. i love the little editing touches too (this applies to all of ray's videos, but i definitely appreciated the cheekiness of imitating the music video with the typography and stuff). this one turned out even better than the Playing God one!
What an inspiration! You are amazing Ray!❤
Insane concept, keep up this style of videos.
Nothing short of AMAZING!!
Bravo! What a magnificent rendition! Thank you for sharing.
This is awesome, I can't wait to try it myself! you're the goat ray
That was sick! Full version - Lets GOOOO!!
I really wish this was longer it sounds so amazing

love these videos, please keep the "series going!
ray excitedly discovering basic guitar things is so funny🤣
I love your interpretation of this piece!
Woah, that was an amazing performance! The original is great sounding too, what a nice rec. Thanks Ray.
man some of those runs are just beautiful
Wow you did it justice and then some. You captured the emotion of the song for me.
It’s so nice to see you rocking out to Polyphia! Hoping there’ll be a collab someday. Great job as always!
Ray, you are amazing❤ oh, God, awesome 😍
It's always fun watching how you go from testing things out to the final - really cool - result 🤗
So good Ray. Ever since I found out about Polyphia earlier this year, they've been on rotation in my playlist. So great to hear your take on this!
Dang, love these violin interpretations! Both this and your Playing God rendition sounded so slick!
Oh my God! It sounds AMAZING~
OMGGG YESS. I have waited so long for this moment. Now it’s finally here, dream come true for sure!😱🔥💯
You are incredibly talented, I'm subscribing immediately.
Magnificent as always
Love so much your violin version Ray Chen 😍😍😍
Please do more I love watching it
ive been a fan if yours for a while now as i like classical and am a beginner pianist so geeked out as i also love polyphia, keep up the great work and great job nailing this!
You absolutely nailed it 👏👏👏 it sounds so cool on violin because of YOUR playing 👏👏👏
Dayummmm!! Sounds even better on the violin. it has so much texture, character and emotion. awesome cover
Yooooooo... you nailed that!! Getting that far with the vibes you pulled off in 30 mins... yup, rockstar. I'll support you by checking on your app Tonic. Keep up these fun challenges!
Very impressive! Kudos.
Love Polyphia and love Ray Chen, really enjoying these videos. You absolutely nailed it ❤
This is my favorite Polyphia song, you nailed it👏 love it!
Amazing video Ray!, Been a fan since the starting of this channel, seeing u grow feels so good alltogether, Please do more polyphia songs, like O.D and Ego Death
This is actually insane lol, the way you added the chords I didn’t think a violin could get that close! Amazingggg hope to see a full cover mastered soon! 🙏🏼
This was fantastic! LOVE Tim Henson's work and since I play violin, it's so cool to see these videos! Love it!! 😊
The way you made that violin sing…. Perfection!!!
you just know tim would find this both very humbling and amusing considering how chill he is.
Excited for this. GOAT is one of their tracks that got me hooked.
Man I absolutely adore you.
Loving these two worlds collide. And I’m curious what Ray thinks about the difficulty of learning songs like this compared to virtuosic violin pieces.
You're incredibly talented and your videos are very entertaining and funny. Once you started playing I was covered with goosebumps and it stayed with me untill the end of your amazing performance! I'm giving a sub.
As a guitarist and a classical violinist these videos brighten my day.
Loved this. Even more than guitar version. Beautiful. Tim is an amazing composer alongside virtuouso guitar player and Ray brought it to a plain
Loved watching this Ray, thanks for helping to inspire next gen of musicians! Would love to see you learn O.D. by Polyphia - I think it would sound awesome on violin!
Bravo Maestro!
Wow these shifts were so amazing
YEAHHH!! LET'S GOOOO!!! Hahaha I love it whenever Ray tries something out of the ordinary~~~ 🙈🤣🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶
Oh wow, that was such a fantastic performance, Mr. Ray Chen(even with a worn-out bow)!
Fantastic sir Ray Chen 👍
Ufff...I absolutely love his expressions while playing the piece...quite sacrilegious 🫠
I really liked this version. It sounds like it was written for violin when you play it!
i can listen to this all day
Would love to see a challenge where you take a bunch of classes and try to learn other stringed instruments in 24 hours. Guitar, cello, erhu, etc. I've been playing guitar from a really young age and when I tried my hand at violin when I was a kid, I felt like I had a step up on most of other students. The bowing was obviously completely alien, but all the left hand stuff came relatively easily. Would be awesome to see what a world class violinist can do going the other way!
This was mad. Big respect to you Mr.Ray. Although this is quite a quirk exercize to the violin world, it is no small feat.
I cried watching this and I fell inlove with you ❤.playing the violin has been my passion I got my violin 2 weeks ago and I’m yet to begin my practice because I’ll have to move back to school for that I’ve been watching and following love you man 🩷.
@RayChen you are so very amazing your violin videos and other content is awesome merry Christmas to you and your family 🎄🎄🎻🎻
I love this is phenomenal l wanna see this collaboration so much its phenomenal and i love that your trying these polyhia songs
The excitement of learning a great piece of music gigidy
For something you tried covering in 30ish minutes, that sounded stellar. Well played Ray! :D
Wow. Ray continues to surprise me with what can be done on the violin.
The fact that you are able to learn such a difficult piece on a completely different instrument in only 30 minutes is just incredible! Can’t wait to see what you continue to play in the future. Do you think you could learn Neurotica by Polyphia next? I haven’t seen many people play it on violin and it’d be a really cool piece to hear played by you! ❤️
I cannot wait for tim to watch these videos. he's going to love them.
This needs to be on their track!
That final result sounds crazy good 😮. I tried learning this on guitar a couple years ago but I couldn't get that fast run consistent enough.
Sheesh, it's really magnificent to see a professional classical violinist playing pop music. You could definitely see the mastery in theie playing technique.
You are amazing!
This deserves way more views!
That was AWESOME!
As a musical layman it is very cool to see the music broken down, translated, and appreciated by such a diverse and talented crowd. Hell yes.
great done... mission successful. I am new learner in 45 years old... you are the finest ...
Tonic helps me a lot!
Such beauty
Listening to Tim's original and Ray's interpretation makes me feel like listening to two gods! Like the amount of talent in both versions is unbelievable, the best humanity has to offer. And you're right, the most important thing is to capture the vibe, which is what you managed to do. Thank you
Hearing this song through the violin gave me the best goosebumps
Oh my gosh, that was insane🤩 I hope they see this video too!
