The Guru Granth Sahib opens with the basic concept of the One Universal, supreme Energy called by so many different names across humanity,. Ik oankar - One absolute being (God) Satnam - Eternal truth it's name Karta Purkh - Creator Nirbau - without fear Nirvair - without hate/ enmity Akal Murat - Deathless/timeless image Ajuni - Beyound birth and death Saibang - self existant Gurprasad - known by the Guru's Grace. This is repeated numerous times and at the start of every section as a constant reminder. In the words of the tenth Sikh Guru - Guru Gobind Singh "recognise the human race as ONE"

I am a second generation American-Indian Sikh. It made me sad to hear about what you had to go through, cus the basics of sikhi is literally equality and there are racist idiots and other ignorant people who are Sikh. I've had my own share of frustration with these kinds of people, I just recognize that those kind of people were essentially *born* into the religion and don't really follow it closely beyond cultural understandings. Although no one group can be "all good", as it's impossible, but we should all be striving for good, no matter the religion.

Such problems in a community that once used to stretch from Afghanistan all the way up to Ladakh, with the 5 pyaare coming from across the Indian subscontinent, with Guru Tegh Bahadur ji going to preach as far as Assam, really show the sad, backwards affects of a community that failed to expand and got too concentrated in a small region especially after the partition. But it's so encouraging to see people such as you embracing the message and the foundation of the message and not letting the punjabi community deter you from it. I'm quite sorry this has been your experience. Those within the punjabi community can be somewhat insular in their thinking, but I do see things slowly changing. Your faith would put that of so many so called 'authentic' punjabi sikhs to issue. Waheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji ki fateth. Manas ki jaat sad EK pachanbo

We are all one, there is God in all of us, its realised through Gurbani the Word of God. As our souls become purified through our actions and meditation we become like the droplets of an ocean (God) part of the same consciousness. Our souls never die, we become one with the creator free from the cycle of life and death. Being a Sikh is a greatest gift and a blessing ❤

I remember in the early 80’s there were quite a few British Blacks who adopted the Sikh faith in the UK. They wore the full Sikh uniform in their daily life’s, but got a lot push back from the enforcement that eventually they walked away from this path.

Hello, Thank you for the information! Most of us have been learning and practicing Sikhi for nearly a decade, some of us _longer._ All of us have learned directly from mentors and other Sikhs who've been Sikh longer than we've been alive. Some of us are even Khalsa! We'll add your suggestion to our Discord's resources channel, for new Sikhs who may find it useful! Thanks so much! : )

Being followed around the Gurdwara, was probably more to do with their curiosity than anything else. Any foreign person visiting India, will naturally be followed around. The people there are just curious.

why try to gaslight us? the people admitted they thought we were there to steal. Soorma even says in one of our videos that he found out later, when they told him they thought he was there to steal. instead of believing us when we tell you what we experience, you gaslight us and try to convince us we experienced something other than what we know we experienced. it's really unkind + harmful. we welcome questions. we encourage curiosity + questions over assumptions + accusations.

*All respect to your decisions and to your belief system* On a healthy discussion my question is what was the fundamental aspect of Sikhism that made you believe that this is your way of life..?? A religion movement which only started during 1649 or so in punjab India. The very first Guru was born within a hindu family, so he was in the Hinduism belief system (which most likely total guess, it did not resonate with him). Is Sikhism divinely inspired is it from Our Lord Our Creator. Or man made innovation infusing the best of everything (mainly influenced by Islam and Hinduism)
