    The adoption argument doesn't work, especially in the context of Nigerian society. Many Nigerian families, no matter how badly they want a child, will NEVER adopt. We see children that are adopted as illegitimate, lesser than biological children. I know this to be true because my mother has a lot of friends that struggled to conceive, and for them prayer was the first option, adoption was the very last (only one of them actually adopted a baby). Not only that, but the process of adoption in Nigeria is overly complicated and those who do adopt are most likely to adopt a baby, so if the child doesn't get adopted within the first 2 years of life, they will probably never be adopted.

    That is a different argument. People that are killed in war have in the back of their mind that is either they kill their opponent or their opponent will kill tham. Either way dey know that they have two options kill or be killed. Now for Abortion the baby (zygote) which ever you want to call it. Does not have an option to say if he or she should die or not. Now this where you Argument is defeated of comparing people that die in war knowing fully well that dey will die or live to killing a Zygote whose decision to either live or die has being decided by the mother. One has the power make a decision While The other person (zygote) the decision has already being for him. People that die war is not the same has killing Zygote.

    If presidents and military generals who sanction wars and civil suits aren't jailed, if universal health care isn't given and people die, in fact in ghana our light issues are so bad that 3 children have died in incubators and all these people haven't been put in jail , then abortion is the right of every woman. Abortion is healthcare. It is not by force to have life. Being a mother shouldn't be forced, rather it should be a role women should be proud of. Forcing a woman to be a mother brings problems.

  • @Princess_Orla

    @Princess_Orla

    15 күн бұрын

    I believe abortion should be allowed in the case of rape, incest and where it threatens the mother’s life. But, when you engage in an activity knowing fully well the consequences, then you can’t just run away from this. Use protection or go for family planning. There should be education on these alternatives so that people don’t have to opt for abortion. Lastly, abstain from sex else, face what comes with it.

  • @jemimahkwakuyi7879

    @jemimahkwakuyi7879

    14 күн бұрын

    @Princess_Orla sex Ed professionals even know that telling people to abstain is not going to work. And you're here mentioning birth control and whatnot. Africa is a place where their definition of sex Ed is to scare women into not having sex. This abstaining thing is not sex education, not everyone can abstain but everyone can have sex education! Now these people are deprived from the necessary sex education they need because Africans put God God God into everything. And you forget that getting birthcontrol is uncomfortable for people. Because some health professionals still judge women who come for birth control. Women aren't properly protected, women aren't popularly educated, and you wonder why there are so many teenage and underage pregnancies! Doctors literally only recommend birth control to married women with medical conditions! Abortion is will reduce when everyone is properly educated and not given that abstainance lie. Even birth control fails! People have gotten pregnant with IUDs and condoms on and everything. A woman's body, whether society likes it or not, is not for society, its hers. The baby depends on her organs and everything to survive. She can take away its right to do so, because she also has autonomy. And say what happens to her body and who gets her nutrients. So if you want there to be less abortions, start educating women, and stop telling women what to do with their bodies.

    Abortion is needed in certain situations whether it’s rape, incest, medical conditions or if the mother of the child is a child herself. The way the pro life side is talking is extremely incriminating towards the women who aren’t mentally or physically to have a child is saddening. And as a woman myself it’s even more disappointing.

    Less than 1% of abortion come from rape. If you don't believe me go and check it out online. Tell me how it's justifiable to end life while the child is in the womb but someone suddenly wrong when it's outside the womb. Rape is a terrible thing but do we need to punish that child's life because of what the father did. Since pro choicers life to say use the rape argument do we need to only give abortion for rape victims because the pro choice people I know would say no and would argue for abortion in all cases.

    Also regarding medical condition you can go and verify by many doctors as abortion is never used to save the woman's life when she is pregnant as abortion takes time before that child is killed and when the pregnant woman is in danger its stupid to do abortion because that woman would die before abortion even kills the child. What often happens is that the pregnant woman has a c section which is quick and easy to do. People need to do their own research before saying that abortion is used when the woman is at risk of losing her life when pregnant.

    Thank you!! Abortion is a lesser evil. But If the government want to avoid abortion though they need to start from the root, the education system. Too many Schools in Nigeria dont teach about consent which is one of the reasons why women are being raped and considering abortion, Religious schools only teach about abstinence to prevent unwanted pregnancy instead of teaching about condoms and birth control, they also need to make contraceptives and condoms cheaper and more accessible for people to avoid having to go through an abortion. Too many children are hawking on the street in Nigeria or working as house help as such a young age because their parents couldn’t afford to have them and abortions arent legal🙄.

    In islam, the fetus does not become a human soul until about 4 months. Abortion is permissible under certain circumstances. However it should not be used haphazardly or as a contraception tool. God forgives all sins once the one who commits the sin repents. There are remnants of sin, however, and those need to be addressed through therapy, and fostering a closer connection with God. Human life has no value in Nigeria at all. Constant kidnappings, killings in the north with the perpetrators still at large are evidences to this fact. These are fully grown adult humans who die like chickens on a daily basis. Mr teacher should go and sleep abeg. Oreofe was right in saying that all women were not designed for motherhood and should be forced or compelled into having kids they’re not equipped to handle, thereby perpetuating the vicious cycles of pain, trauma and brokenness. Our current society is a picture of what happens when kids are brought into this world without requisite preparations on their parents part. Let’s stop being sentimental and face facts here! Morality is too parochial a reason to bring a whole human into this world you don’t want. Children know they’re not wanted even when it’s not verbally articulated to them. Feelings of abandonment, rejection, and neglect show up in adulthood as depression and sundry other mental health situations. People will not stop having sex. That’s a given. Legalize abortion so that we stop losing our ladies and girls to unnecessary deaths on the table of quacks. Oreofe is very pragmatic! Very pragmatic! We bury our heads in the sand in this Nigeria and hide under the toga of religion and culture. It’s not helping any. Men have no say in what happens to our bodies abeg. They should shatap🙄

    I believe that it’s not a black or white topic. There’s a lot of gray area. However, it should be legalized with policies to prevent individuals from abusing it. The benefits outweigh the demerit

    Chinwendu the lady with yellow hair has very little sense. You are explained what dictatorship means and she agreed it should not be that way and still, she's like "she doesn't get it" after asked if she understands "dictatorship".

    This fair lady can lie. How was an eight-month-old pregnancy aborted? No doctor will agree to do such. No sane person will agree. Wetin remain to born am? First, eight months was an exaggeration. Secondly, na the abortion she do dey torment her.

    If abortion(🤮🤮) would be legalized it has to be on strict rules… Nigeria can not obey ordinary laws what makes you think they would follow the rules

    I think there should be eduction on family planning and abstinence. Abortion should be allowed in the case of rape, incest and where it threatens the mother’s life.

    Abortion is wrong,yes.However i believe it should be regulated and guided.Before the abortion counselling and therapy should be given before the abortion to understand the situation and to make an even more informed decision.
