I love it so much I bought one. Ok I took me 2 years of waiting on a list. The smaller size, the straight lugs, the 321 movement. The former Lemania movement is used by Patek, Breguet and even today's Vacherons Constantin chrono. You get 80k presence in a 15k watch (yes the retail prices went up twice during my 2 years waiting)

I spent a week of camping and hiking in the cascade mountains , my speedy was submerged in water so many times I lost count. Here is a movement (321) that was made over 50 years ago and I would put money on it that the movement is as strong or stronger than most high end watches.. The movement on the 321 is triple A rated, the bridges and main plate is made of Sedna gold and the bevels are polished. A column wheel and horizontal clutch makes this watch very smooth running even with only 18 jewels, almost the same exact movement on the older Peteks. That watch is assembled by the same watchmaker. Only one man touches that watch from beginning to end. If you wear that watch you're a true watch enthusiast.

@@Ge0rGi. Agreed. it's based off of Gene Cernan's watch anyway, so I don't know why it's nicknamed the "Ed White." I don't think Omega calls it the Ed White anyway. It's called the Caliber 321. Cheers!

They will. No matter how much they go on about 1 magic elf in a Swiss workshop on a mountain top making these, it is a production piece.

Great vid. Beautiful piece you have there, with a movement shared with Patek, Vacheron and Breguet. Have a 1967 321, and a 1969 861 with rare though period-incorrect No Nasa caseback. Being from the 1960s, having Speedies and watches that were "born" in the same decade and are still alive today adds a powerful dimension when wearing them. Like feeling your own childhood years right there on your wrist.

I so want this 321 model. It looks incredible. It's also apropos since I live along Florida's Space Coast. Nearest Omega AD said I needed a purchase history. So, unless I pick up by chance I'll head to grab market.

I wish I could swap out my 1861 bracelet for this one.

How is the bracelet on this watch? Does it feel cheap like other Omega bracelets? How’s the bracelet compared to the Rolex Oyster bracelet? Is it all solid links and end links etc?

I’m retiring in November. I planned to buy a Rolex as a gift to myself. Meaning I was planning on buying a USED watch at a price PREMIUM! Looking at the speedmaster has made me re-think everything. The closest dealer has the 1861 and the new 3861 in stock. Somebody help me pick before I do something rash; like buy both!

If you want to spare your bracelet, Forstner has 19 mm JB champion flat link that looks the same (but it has more size adjustments in the stamped clasp). The JB champion was the one some of the astronauts wore. Forstner also sells the Komfit NASA endorsed during the Apollo program.

The man will never wear that watch with after market parts, even if just for a day. He loves the watch because of it's history and craftsmanship. Price doesn't matter to him, what matters is that he connects with the watch.

I understand that this watch is handmade and supply is limited but is double the price of the new speedmaster professional?

Why did you get banned from your Rolex ad?

Like you I have a similar "Core" collection, a Rolex 126619LB Sub, 126715CHNR GMT, and this watch... but I hope you're wrong about them putting this movement in anything other than more Ed White watches ... 1000 a year into perpetuity ... be smart, like Rolex... and Porsche.. not like Breitling and GM... spread your self too thin with too many lines/variants.

I actually prefer the 3861 version. But as long as your happy James that's all that matters 👍

This watch received a notably poor review in Watchtime just now, receiving a composite rating of only 82. The watch was negatively critiqued for its poor operation and inaccurate (13 second deviation) timekeeping (the watch is not COSC certified). Frankly, I have a difficult time understanding how this watch is even remotely worth it’s lofty price.

It’s a great watch, but the fake patina just ruins it. I’ll never understand why Omega does this. It’s just ridiculous

Don t understand all the hype arround this watch. Too geeky IMHO. And in vintage "inspired" there is "inspired" 😑. Like tudor with its "fake" rivet: not original watch with its original history and saoul.
